Two days passed after Janet's call, and Sue did not make up her mind whether to meet her mother or not.
Receiving this unexpected call from Janet was surprising to Sue, but Janet's requesting Sue to visit her in the Alzheimer's treatment center was way too shocking.
Sue felt sorry knowing that Janet was sick, and at the same time, she felt that she was not ready to meet Janet.
It was Sue's last working day with Harris. After the farewell party, she went out to celebrate with Judy, Mary and her husband, and Judy's ex-husband, who Sue considered family now.
"Why did not you ask Ian to join, dear?" Judy asked
"I wanted to spend this special occasion with family. Ian is my partner, and that is all." Sue answered
Judy hoped that Sue would accept having new friends around her after their last lunch, but it seemed that Sue enjoyed her new lifestyle. She enjoyed being away from people.
