Realisation

It took Elizabeth two weeks to recover. The atmosphere of the mansion become more tense. People gossiped whenever they saw Elizabeth. After that day,Annie shut herself in her room. She didn't talk with anyone anymore. The marquis and the count acted like invisible in each other eyes.

-Mortan take me to Elizabeth's room.

-Pardon now?

-Yes.

Just as Annie was about to stand up,Aiden,the marquis opened the door without knocking.

-What are you doing brother. Did you forget manners now?

-I don't want to hear that from you.

-Where is the diary?

-What diary? What are you talking about?

-Annie don't make me angry anymore.

-So you also knew about father's affair?

-Give it to me.

-No,i will give it to Elizabeth. She needs to know what a whore her mother was.

-Don't cross the line Annie.

-Brother did you...did you also fell in love with that whore's daughter? The one who killed our mother. How can you....

Annie couldn't finish her sentence since tears keep flowing out of her eyes.

-I don't love her. Let's just forget about it. They are both dead now.

-I...i will never forget about it. Did you forget about mother's death? How she suffered untill the end.

-I didn't. But there is nothing we can do.

-You are the same brother. Actually for me,you died when you decided my marriage without consulting me.

-Annie!!!

-Don't yell at me your jerk!

The yelling of both brother and sister grew louder and louder.

-My lord looks like the marquis is angry.

-Hm....

-Can you stop reading that newspaper. Don't you think we should just leave? The countess will not come back. She will definitely divorce you.

-Leo you say such nonsense.

-Then why don't you clear up the misunderstanding?

With a angry face Leo looked at her master. But ignoring Leo's rage,William focused on the yelling sound coming from the other side of the house.

-Annie i don't know what happened between you and the count. But you are going back to the Thesley mansion tomorrow.

-What!!! Now you are kicking me out?

-I told you not to cross the line.

Annie couldn't talk anymore. Aiden stormed out of the room without looking back.

-My lady?

-Mor-tan get out.

-Lizzy why do you think the marquis and the lady fought yesterday?

-I don't know. Probably about going back.

-The lady will definitely divorce the count.

-Yeah i guess so.

-Lizzy.

-Ms.Mortan?

-Come here for a second.

Lizzy went near Mortan to hear what she wanted to say. But to her surprise,Mortan gave her a notebook without anything. It is so old that a bad smell is coming from it.

-Huh...what is this?

-Just read it. Don't tell anyone about it.

Lizzy couldn't keep her curiosity. At night,she opened the notebook to see what is written in it.

-This look like the late marquis's diary. His name is written in it. Why would the head maid give it to me.

First few pages is about his personal affairs. Then suddenly Lizzy saw her mother's name. The more she read it,the more her face become darker.

-Mother...

A soft bell rang from a church far away from the mansion. The night become darker and cold.

-Yawn.....Lizzy are you not sleeping? We have to get up early you know.

-Mary...

Lizzy looked at Mary with a crying face. Mary unable to understand what is happening hugged Lizzy.

With a sad smiling face Mary said,Why are you crying?

-I was wrong.

-Wrong?

-My mother....my mother...

Lizzy couldn't finish her sentence due to excessive chocking from crying.

-Lizzy calm down.

-My mother had an affair.

-What!! What are you talking about?

-I thought it was my father but.....

-Lizzy stop talking. Let's calm down first.

-Look at this Diary.

-Let me see.

Finishing the dairy,Mary understood what a big secret has been unrevealed untill now.

-How am i supposed to face the lady now!

-It's not your fault. Let me put you to sleep.

Mary started humming a lullaby to calm Lizzy down. Though she fell asleep,Mary knew something is gonna happen sooner or later between them.

For the past few days,Lizzy didn't talk with anyone. She was still trying get over the fact that her mother is a cheater and had an affair with a married man with children. Then one day,she gathered her courage to met Annie who was still fighting over the fact.

-My lady.

-Why did you come here?

-Were you the one who sent me that diary?

-That wasn't me. Mortan did it. She couldn't see me hurt anymore. So,she took action on her own.

-I...i don't know how to comfort you.

-I thought about it long and hard and realised it isn't your fault that your mother cheated. My father also did the same. You are at the same position as me.
