The Survivor Halflings

Chapter 64 The Survivor Halflings

'COUGH! COUGH!'

Vaeral was awake with a lot of coughing and nose-filled water.

He immediately stood leaning on the wall; even everything he sees still blurred.

"Rez…van?"

Vaeral rubbed his eyes rapidly until he could see clearly that I was standing in front of him.

"You alright?"

I asked.

"Y-yeah… somehow…. But… ughhh…."

Vaeral forced himself to be steady but turned back to leaning on the wall.

All his muscles, bones, and breath feels crumbled because of that deadly strike of the Mystical Beast.

"Curses… it will take a lot of time to recover if my body becomes crumbled like this…."

Vaeral cursed the severe injury on his body.

As he realized he stood on the water's surface, he looked at me and gasped when I saw the Iron Spear of Yinleth's Talisman in my hand.

"Rezvan…! Y-you managed to defeat that Halflings?"

Vaeral looked at me with amazement.

"Of course, it is my Daredevil win over any trial and dangerous enemy, Vaeral! Don't you dare doubt my Daredevil! Thanks to my Daredevil, since that's the only reason you're still alive without being crippled to death! Be grateful for it!"

Amdarais throw all his cockiness as if he is the one who defeats The Giant Gorilla.

Well, whatever.

Vaeral and I are not caring about that when Amdarais start getting annoying.

"That Mystical Gorilla already sulked into the water tornado in the deep sea. So, don't worry about it anymore."

I said it casually.

"So that's why the ice on this tunnel had ended and turned back into the sea from our water magic spell."

Vaeral nodded.

"The Honour of Conquest's miracle also diminished when I broke this Iron Spear. Why this happened?"

"I had passed out in the middle of our battle, Rezvan. We reached the Honour of Conquest's Miracle together, so if I passed out, the Soul's Spirit resonation would weaken as well."

"It means Vaeral's the one who troubles you."

Amdarais intervene while chuckling.

"Close your mouth, skull Clown. Let me finish my explanation first."

Vaeral quickly ordered Amdarais to silence.

"The moment I kill two halflings that hide under the body of Mystical Beast, I thought it could disturb their Soul's resonation to Yinleth's Iron Spear, but I was wrong. They use the Yinleth's Miracle only to block our Great Water Magic Spell imbued by Venharice's Miracle. They separated all their resonations into the Yinleth's Iron Spear and their Mystical Beast."

I think for a moment when I hear Vaeral's explanation.

"In simple words, you had succeeded in disconnecting their resonation simultaneously, Rezvan. You make those cursed Halflings drowned, and at the same time, you forcefully repeal the Iron Spear's Miracle! What a Genius! You're the greatest apprentice I ever had, Rezvan! Be thankful as I had a good teacher for you!"

Amdarais tries to make Vaeral's explanation more concise while adding his annoying proudness.

"Okay, okay, I get it. Now-"

'SPLASH'

I stopped my words and turned back my body simultaneously as I heard 'something' just arise from the deep sea.

My palm goes aim automatically as my Soul's Spirit senses lead to someone with a ripped magician coat and face full of blood standing weakly at the water's surface.

It would be easy for me to finish this dying person.

However, I hold my attempt to execute it since it's the one Halflings that I know he's the one among five halflings who try to impel Vaeral and me with its Mystical Beast.

"Are you still breathing?"

I asked loud since the distance between the Halflings and me was far enough.

"You heretic! Infidel! Stop disturbing the Venharice and Yinleth Family, dirty Joker!"

The Halfling raved since he stared intensely at Amdarais behind me.

"Heheheheh… looks like someone just breath well after that mess, eh?! What's wrong, midget?! You dare to mock me?! The Supreme Magician among Monsters?! Hahahahahah!"

Amdarais laughed satisfyingly to brag about his victory.

"Let go of that Holy Spear from your vile hand, lousy magician! It's disgusting and insulting! Only someone who is chosen by Yinleth's Family can grasp it!"

The Halflings pointed out the Iron Spear in my hand.

"What did you say, midget?! Are you out of your mind?! Have you gone nuts?! Look at you, breathing heavily with a crumbled body, and ask us to return the thing you had stolen with your manipulation?! What an idiot!"

Amdarais laughed menacingly.

Even though it's annoying to hear, I agree with Amdarais.

This midget is spewing its cursing nonstop like crazy.

Regardless, I have my curiosity over these Halflings.

But first, I should shut him up.

I clenched my right palm with concentrating on my Soul's Spirit.

Seconds after that, the water surfaces the midget standing, forming a water ball that incarcerates the Halflings.

The constant insult from that Halflings stopped entirely.

I walked through the water's surface until I stopped at the water ball to look at the midget suffocating.

"Just answer my questions, then I will reconsider your fate, Halflings."

I said in a threatening tone.

The Halflings try to swim to get out of the water ball, but it easily gets tossed up by the flow of water inside the water ball.

A few minutes passed, and the Halflings' faces turned blue because of the lack of air.

I can see the bubble from his nose and mouth since his remaining air almost diminishes.

Looking at his panicked face, I hope it's a sign of his redemption.

I snapped my finger, then the water ball suddenly dispersed.

The Halflings fell into the water's surface and coughed heavily, trying hard to collect the air.

In the middle of his panting, I brandished Yinleth's spear right in front of Halfling's face, making him freeze in fear.

"I don't want to hear your babbling anymore. If I hear that again, even only one word, your life is done."

I underline my menace clearly, successfully making the Halflings stop his mumbling.

"How do you know our plan?"

I asked it after the Halflings' breathing was gradually normal.

"We know…. because someone had foreseen it…."

The Halflings answered with trembling voices and bodies.

"Who is it?"

"It's the demon…."

I stare at the Halflings more intensely.

If someone can see through Amdarais and my plan is The Demon, then I most likely believe it since my last meeting with him was the bizarre one.

"The Demon, huh… So he works with you and the Derberos Families?"

"Impossible! We're the holiest among the Monsters! So why do we ask the Demon to join us! Infidel!"

"But you're here because of his information. What a damn hypocrite."

"W-we… we just…. We just acting preventive over any threatening act from you, heathen!"

"Rezvan, just kill him already. Hearing him is irritating as hell."

Amdarais intervene with menacing tones.

Although this midget is pretentious, I do not see any murderous intent from him.

I just let it slide and focused on my main objective: saving Raenisa.

As I pointed out the Iron Spear of Yinleth toward the Halflings, he quickly stopped mumbling again.

"Your plan failed, and we will bring back Raenisa from the Forbidden Ice Magic Spell. Tell me what you know about the temple on top there so we can access it safely."

I asked in a serious tone.

"H-heathen…! Y-you bastard! I swear Princess Raenisa will-"

The Halflings stopped since I slapped his face vigorously, which made him stumble.

Once again, I am pointing the spear's blade toward the midget.

"I said just answer my damn question, midget. If I hear other than that, then this spear will impale your eyes slowly. Get it?"

The Halflings trembled, with his face becoming pale.

"I-I don't know…."

I slapped him again, then stomped his head, so his face sulked into the sea.

A few minutes passed, and I pulled my feet so the midget could breathe again after long coughing.

"Answer. The. Damn. Question."

I repeated it word by word, so The Halflings tremble more than ever.

"I-I don't know! I swear! No one at the temple could survive besides Princess Raenisa! Even Venhrice and Yinleth could not reach Princess Raenisa in that frozen temple! The Forbidden Ice Magic Spell had already created a prison that no one could penetrate! Not even you, heathens!"

I paused for a while since I didn't sense any lies or babbling from these Halflings.

There are many questions, but when I see this Halfling trembling like he's going faint, I do not see any reason for digging for any information from him.

"You're not going kill him? Too dull and naïve, Daredevil… I just warned you… "

Amdarais mumbled over my decision.

I shrugged it off and turned back before seeing the Halflings peed because of his fear.

I guess I need to discuss this with Vaeral; strangely enough, I see him still leaning on the tunnel's wall with heavy breath.

What's wrong with him?

Hopefully, his injury is not that severe, so we can continue to focus on saving the Princess of Raenisa.

The moment I left the halflings, suddenly, I heard a faint male voice near the Halflings.

"It's done already. But no worries, your corpse is useful for further war."

As soon as I look back, the midget blood spilled brutally.

The horned tall man with its black aura covering his bottom barely impales the Halfling's back with his hand crushingly.

The Halflings vomit blood with eyes wide open, losing any hope to survive when the Horned Man throws him until he sulks into the sea.

Amdarais and I are not expecting that the killer of that halflings is the Demon itself.
