Damien stared at Nova as she narrated what she had gone through. He was infuriated but he also felt sympathy for her, even though it did not show on his face which still looked as straight and indifferent as it always did. While narrating, a couple of teardrops would occasionally drop from Nova's eyes but she would hurriedly wipe them away with the back of her palm, she refused to look weak now. Whenever she thought of that night and the events that followed, it was always like old wounds were opened, giving this excruciating but not foreign heartache.
Noir was her senior from school, the most notorious student in his class, and a gang leader to many others. He had been hitting on Nova for a while which she did not take lightly with him, she had even slapped him once and she still wondered the reason why he didn't do anything to her that day.
On this day, he tried hitting on her again but Nova's twin brother, Alan wasn't going to have any of it and he and Noir got into a fight. Noir was strictly forbidden from showing p side in public, especially in school during broad daylight. Alan was taller than most of his classmates and seniors, making Noir look a bit smaller and inferior to him.
The depressing fact about Noir is that he only learned how to use his claws and scare people with his attitude and werewolf looks. This made Alan have a superior hand when it was to combat and she won, it was a fair fight.
Losing to Alan made enraged Noir and he wanted to get payback for his humiliation. Turned out that Noir's father, Alpha Ian of Crescent pack also had some scores to settle with her parents, issues that are unknown right now. Noir was a spoiled brat, that always got all things he wanted and was always granted all the dangerous wishes he had. Both father and son decided to execute their plan and get their respective dose of revenge.
Nova's parents were the type that didn't like the public attention on them as they always preferred a low-key life, one of the reasons why they had their house (more like an estate) away from most onlookers' views. Most people didn't even know their address and they didn't have maids, only a housekeeper that wasn't living with them and guards stationed in various places. This was an advantage to Noir and Ian as there weren't any neighbors and the guards weren't hard for them to handle, they were werewolves after all.
Nova was surprised when she woke up to realize that she didn't die, she could still remember that she thought the hospital ward was a particular place in the "afterlife". When she was found around six hours later, along with the rest of her family was already dead, there were no injuries on her body but the housekeeper who had come over the following morning to find dried blood and dead bodies in the kitchen along with a breathing unconscious one decided to make sure that the ambulance took her as well.
Nova surviving the "animal attack" unscathed as their house was close to the woods raised suspicions, even by the police. Her status was akin to that of a prime suspect. She tried he best to inform them that it was no animal but a werewolf but she was deemed crazy. Her father's relatives were not helping her matters either, they even seemed desperate to get her out of the way... Especially her uncle.
Ian and Noir knowing that they had made a mistake unknowingly sparing Nova knew that they had to try to kill her again before the rumors got to Damien.
Nova had gone to another of her father's houses that same day and her father's relatives made life hell for her by making fake ghosts appear, saying things to her, and many other things within two days. This was to make it seem like she had lost her mind and they could even try to make her remain insane. Her parents hadn't written any will but since she was the only descendant alive, the money was automatically hers, which her relatives didn't want.
She had run out of the house the second night to get rid of the "ghosts" whispering in her ears, this walked and she decided to walk around rather than go back inside. Turned out that she didn't know that Ian and Noir were out for her. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her after Ian and Noir came out of the shadows to try and kill her for the second time, not knowing that it was her night of transformation and how she would meet Isaac.
She had stumbled and almost fallen in Isaac's hands while she was running and he recognized Ian and Noir immediately. Even though he owned a bar and mostly stayed on the low, Isaac was actually a strong werewolf, and a lot of alphas never tried to fight him or get into duels with him. He could see Ian and Noir in their wolf form which meant he couldn't just let it slide, fighting Noir was a piece of cake, his father proved difficult to handle but he later put him in his place as well. By the time he was done, he couldn't find Nova around but then he heard a loud howl and he followed it.
He found Nova was the one howling but controlling her on her first time as a werewolf was not an easy task... Luckily, he had experience in that aspect too. He took her away from there and she explained all that had happened to him. He advised her that it was best that she accepted that she was now a werewolf and she had to leave her normal life for a while. There were two privileged werewolves after her life but she would be safer on the Sun Peak's territory and it was also obvious that her father's relatives were hell-bent on getting rid of her as well.
