Battle goes on Part 3

Artirian would clasped his hands while ROmmel would call all the group leaders except for 7,9,10 all the group leaders would give a salute before entering the tent. Artirian would let them sit while he would be standing pointing out the position of each group leader on the map that is placed on the table.

While he starts discussing the plans for the operation for tomorrow the officers would look tired but Artirian must consider the position they are in right now. The force for the 12th Shock infantry will be around in a strength of 250 soldiers 150 of those would be the strike force tomorrow and it must be at night to get the enemy caught off guard.

"Right group 2,4,5 assume your positions are on the left side of the forest. This place is thick with trees and leaves so better camouflage yourselves until the given signal don't attack the enemy. Next is group 1,3,6 expect that it will be a gruesome battle so I expect your mens to be able to fight a long run. I expect group 6 to handle the main rear of the charge. While the 3 and 1 will be focusing on the vanguard of the attack.

Once the clash commences I will give the signal to group 2 and 4 to reinforce the vanguard and let 5 annihilate the Republican forces who are running. Now I will be placing Rommel for the vanguard and Arthur for reinforcement and I will be at the rear to protect for any flanking maneuvers that the enemy will be ordering."

Artirian would look at his officers and He noticed that they were low on morale. Artirian would then give them a simple quote to remember "Gents we hold our destiny so we shall prevail" that quote gave an inspiration struck on the group leaders thoughts that gave them a will to fight for tomorrow.

Morning came the birds were chirping and the sun was hot the trenches would look like simple sand bags and dirt. There are still lingering smells of blood but because they have been there for much longer they have gotten used to its smell.

One of the conscripts who were patrolling one of the towers noticed movements and as he cleared his eyes he saw 3 battalions of cavalry that were trotting towards the wall. He then runs towards the bell and is able to alarm it.

Then he also shouted that there are 3 incoming battalions of cavalry that are heading on the broken wall. The conscripts below would be ordered to fix tier bayonet on to their edge of the barrel to make spears.

Then once it happened the cavalry would then charge inside the wall but before they charged in they were continuously being shot by muskets and arrows. Artirian would imbue his sword and charge into the battle to help his fellow brother at the fight.

One of the knights that Artirian clashed with is a knight that has a silver medal on his armor. Artirian has the disadvantage because he is not riding a horse and the knight has the upper ground. As Artirian would start slashing his sword left and right the knight would only block it but Artirian is too wise he then cut the horse's feet to make it neigh making the knight fall on the ground.

Artirian would smirk and kick the knight face as the knight receives Artirian kick he would fell unconscious and drop on the ground soon after Artirian would cut through knight by knight his face would be full of blood and the Bokken sword is much sharper and even cut through the armor of the knight. Some conscripts would be amazed on how their officer is able to kill almost 10 knights consecutively.

Without gasping for air after he struck a few more Artirian would be kneeling on the ground. His surrounding was still an ongoing clash between his men and around 400 more knights to fight on; luckily the reinforcement had come from the other cities. They have successfully come at the right time while Artirian uniform was unrecognisable; because it has cuts from some parts and some of the ribbons are missing, his face full of blood stains and dirt his men are also the same. The reifornforment came with the battle in passageway was dwindling. Then they turned back the tide and re-routed the Republican forces.

The leading officer that came for the reinforcement is the second son of the thornwind family patriarch Oswald Geronimo thornwind. He then looks at the state of the passageway fortification. It was a mess, it was dirty and messy. He then ask who is the commanding officer and Artirian rose from kneeling and stands up looking at the Oswald and said "I am sir, I am the commanding officer of this fortification" Oswald look at Artirian state it was amazing that he withstand that attack that the Republican forces has to offer. Artirian would sheath his Bokken sword and head to his men. He then checked them group by group and assessed the casualties and fatalities.

Of all the 150 strong and the addition of the 300 with the casualties was 70 and the fatalities were 80. Artirian would be then resting as the reinforcement came. Then a carriage would enter the fortification; it was the carriage of the Garrison Commander.

The carriage was guarded by 5 silver knights. It stopped in the middle of the fortification and then the door opened. The Garrison Commander is a 6 ft tall muscular man with silver knight armor and a bald head with wrinkles on his face. He has brown hair. His sword was a claymore so it is sheathed on his back. As soon as he stepped on the ground he clapped at everyone. And soon walked towards Artirian and said "Well done boy you prove something that any young officers can't do and that is to defend a simple fortification. The city lord has given you a sponsor to enter the Divine Military Academy at Xethova."

Artirian would be amazed and looked at his fellow brothers and he would ask "Can I also let my two staff sergeant to come along with me and can I ask what will happen to the conscripts that joined the fight" The garrison commander would reply "The conscripts would be dismissed and they will be given their salary as for the other part of the shock infantry unit they will be a regular force until you came back here and take them. Oh yeah forgot to tell my name I am Colonel. Blitzkrieg" Artirian nodded and as he felt the sense of comfortability with the Colonel.
