Nightmare V

The horrors of that stormy night didn't end...

'I want to live. I want to live. I want to live! Please! Let me live!' Over and over, a wounded young girl repeatedly reiterated those words in her thoughts as she dashed through the darkness for her life on that same stormy night.

The sad little girl was yet another victim of the killer mage, and she was still in danger as she had barely escaped from the crazed murderer.

She ran with all her might, stumbling along a narrow alleyway. She proceeded to run through ran through the dark alleyways of the Goldman Estate, her body staggered from weakness due to the horrific bleeding from a long gash across her left arm. Her legs gradually lost the strength to continue her sprint and her eyelids began to waver from the blood loss.

"I'm losing strength...but...but I can't just...stop here. If I stop here...he'll find me. He'll find me and he'll do to me what he did to Daddy and Mommy," she told herself.

*Slap* She slapped herself harshly to keep her mind and body awake before continuing forward, running with all her might.

"I...won't die here! I have to keep going!" declared the girl. To minimize the bleeding, with her little right arm, she held closed the long bleeding gash on her left arm. The bleeding trickled and flowed down her hand onto the road like water in the rain.

As the blood flowed, it left a long trail of blood as she ran along the path and beyond that trail emerged the mage with the purple glowing eyes, the killer mage. A cold shiver went through her spine as the little girl caught a glimpse of those glowing purple eyes in the distance behind her.

Their eyes met, his face was still hidden behind his dark robe hood but the little girl could notice that the killer was indeed closing on her thanks to the trail of blood.

However, he didn't give chase. He simply walked towards her as she struggled forward with what little strength she could muster.

After all, she was... 'I'm losing too much strength. This is very bad, it seems I've lost just about too much blood, it feels that way...' concluded the girl.

The killer mage followed her slowly behind, still walking casually. Until...

"Ah!!" She stumbled and fell to the hard floor, just a few inches from the intersection. She couldn't close the wound anymore, she was too weak to even hold her arm as she had lost too much blood.

'I'm going to die...' sobbed the girl.

The sound of heavy steps encroach from behind her, the killer mage was coming for her albeit slowly. 'I'm so...sleepy... If I sleep, maybe I'll wake up from this nightmare.' Her eyelids started to waver and her mind began to drift into the unconscious.

But then, a light suddenly appeared from the other side of the road. At this point, she was already half unconscious and had lost the will to live but something primal in her small body refused to let her die, call it an instinct but before the girl could collect her thoughts her body began to crawl...

She crawled in such a way that one could have mistaken her for a zombie, she struggled forward, not hesitating or stopping even for a second until she reached her destination; the intersection of the road from where the light emerged.

It was gradual, but little by little, with her right arm and left bloodied arm, she crawled towards the intersection.

"Hmm?" The killer mage from behind tilted his head in surprise and increased his speed of pursuit as the girl was about to reach her goal.

The little girl was just an inch away from the opening to the main road when the killer mage summoned a floating blade completely out of thin air. The purplish hue of the blade made of air shimmered with its sharp edge as the killer mage ruthlessly launched it towards the girl's head.

However, in just a second before the blade made of aura and thin air could pierce the girl's skull, another blade suddenly appeared and destroyed the purple blade in its path. The mysterious long blade that saved the girl was a katana percolated in some magic and beyond that katana's hilt was a tall, lean man clad in a black and blue striped uniform.

The rain seemed to simmer at his presence, and the moonlight illuminated his glossy cropped strawberry-blonde hair. More enticing than his build and his hair were his luminous eyes.

With her eyelids drooped from exhaustion, the little girl took a glance at the man who stood above her head as he shielded her body with his katana.

She sluggishly muttered, "Your...eyes, are they purple? No, they're...not purple, they're... Violet..." and lost consciousness.

The man sheathed his sword as the killer mage retreated into the darkness, disappearing into the night.

He analyzed the poor girl with his aura eyes,  carried the little girl into his big yet gentle arms and then with a twirl of his sword in its sheath, disappeared into the night leaving nothing behind but a lotus flower on the floor from which he faded away.
