The Soul System in the Apocalypse

Henry was just a simple boy but life was never simple to him. During his early years, he had actually encountered the legendary human trafficking. As such, he was sold to a place where he was forced to workday and night. During one of the nights that he was resting after a long day of working, something astonishing happened. He was taken to a black space where time was supposedly nonexistent. After wondering aimlessly for a long time in the darkness, something finally happened. A screen suddenly appeared in front of him. The screen had a title written on it in bloody red bold, 'THE SOUL SYSTEM'. Then, a bulky amount of information was poured into his mind at that moment. The planet that he was in was going to experience an apocalypse. Magic and other things that could only be seen in fantasy were going to appear. And during that time, it would be the period of the reign of the strongest. As someone who hadn't seen the world, how was he supposed to survive in such a world where not just strength, but even knowledge mattered? Thankfully, he had managed to get THE SOUL SYSTEM that was going to guide him. If he was going to rise in power, was he going to look for the family that he had lost many years ago? Or was he simply going to focus on finding out the cause of the sudden apocalypse, as well as to find the mysteries behind THE SOUL SYSTEM?

The Apocalypse Descends (edited)

After everything turned dark, Henry suddenly opened his eyes back in the reality. At this moment, his head had already started aching. It was as if there was a person that had taken a hammer and smashed it on his head.

Making sure that he didn't make any sound, Henry looked around and was surprised to find that everything seemed the same just as he had closed his eyes. If he remembered correctly, he had stayed in the dark space for so many minutes.

But surprisingly, according to the way that things seemed, the way that the dorm's lights were still on, that meant that it was yet to reach early in the morning.

As he endured the pain that came with the lots of memories that he had received, Henry began thinking about what he had encountered. Furthermore, he was also thinking about the information that had been fed into his mind.

The apocalypse!

That was the information that he had received from the place that he had been before. The apocalypse was coming soon!

As for what the apocalypse was, that was the worst nightmare that the humankind could encounter. This was the time that the humans dropped in the food chain. From the top of the food chain, to the very bottom of the food chain.

Furthermore, that was not going to be all, as there would be more than just the appearance of the legendary zombies and so on. There would be the appearance of the mythical creatures that had only been seen in the fantasy films or read about in fantasy novels.

Goblins, mutant creatures, dragons, elves and so on. All of these were going to make an appearance during the time that the apocalypse was going to descend on the world. All of these creatures being supernatural, containing the strength that humans could only imagine.

Furthermore., the abilities that they were going to possess was something that the current human technology wasn't going to easily cope up with. The humans were supposed to start over again by starting to develop from the very bottom of the food chain.

As the concept about the apocalypse appeared in his mind, Henry couldn't help but feel his heart racing. He wasn't looking forward to the appearance of the apocalypse at all as that was no different from a living hell.

Although he was young, he had always liked to watch films when he was back at home. As a result, he had occasionally watched several horror films as they demonstrated the changes that would happen during the apocalypse.

He had seen in the films about how the life of humans continued getting harder and harder as the apocalyptic period moved on. Furthermore, moral values of the humans would all disappear at that moment as at that time, all that mattered was the survival of the fittest or the smartest.

Although it was true that Henry really didn't wish to see the apocalypse descending, although this might as well be a chance that he could use to get out of the facility that had been holding him for over a decade now, he knew that the dangers that came with the chance were so big that he wasn't willing to let that happen if he had the choice to select.

But there was something that made Henry almost cry. That was the fact that, the following day was actually when the apocalypse was supposed to descend. And, he had not made any preparations about what he was going to do next.

Although he really wished to take the information that he had received as a prank, he knew that he had to take it seriously. After all, since when was there a possibility for him to be fed with such a huge amount of information when in truth, he had been in the dorm all along?

He gulped as he realized that the headache that had been disturbing him all this while had mysteriously disappeared even before he could notice that.

He sat up on the bed as he wondered what he was supposed to do next. Furthermore, he wasn't sure about the time that the apocalypse was going to descend the following day as the information listed nothing about that. It might be midnight, or during the very last minute of that day.

He kicked the upper bed as he tried to get the attention of Adam. And not long after he had kicked, Adam's head descended as it looked at him questioningly.

Henry whispered, "I have got a feeling that there are going to be changes that are going to happen tomorrow. So, it's better if you sleep early and wake up the moment that the clock hits the 00:00 mark. You have to be careful and expect anything."

Adam's mind was blank at that moment. He looked incredulously at Henry as he wondered if there was something wrong with him, or it was just a prank that he was currently playing on him.

"Are you serious or are you joking?" Adam questioned after a while.

Henry frowned as he looked at him with a displeased expression on his face. Then, he asked, "What part of my face indicates that I'm joking around?"

When Adam saw that there was a serious expression on Henry's face, he chuckled. "Hehe, look at how good you are at joking. If I remember well, the last time that we trusted your intuition, we ended up being beaten up by our fathers."

Black veins almost appeared on Henry's face when he heard that. This was an incident that he could still remember and was something that Adam had always used against him.

"That's completely different from what I'm saying. It's already thirteen years since that incident, but you can still remember it?" Henry retorted.

Adam simply laughed at that and didn't say anything else concerning that matter. After that, he looked at Henry and stated, "I guess that I'll have to trust your intuition one last time today then." Immediately after he said that, he got back to the bed and began sleeping, indicating that he had taken Henry seriously.

Henry heaved a sigh of relief. If not for the fact that the two of them had been friends for a very long time, he would not have bothered to inform him about what was going to happen the following day. But even then, he didn't dare to talk about the soul system that he was still clueless about and neither did he talk about the black space that he had been inside not long ago.

That was something that still needed even more information. After all, in the information that he had received, there was nothing about that black space and neither was there any information about the soul system. All the information that he had received was all about the apocalypse.

Although Henry was supposed to use this time to make preparations on what he was supposed to do during the apocalypse, what preparations was he supposed to make here when he was just a prisoner? If it was looking for a weapon, he already had an iron rod that was just below his bed.

The only preparation that he could perhaps make at the moment was to simply drift off to sleep. He had to make sure that he was not tired as he was at the moment when the apocalypse descends. Although he could not recover fully in the few hours that he was supposed to sleep, it was better than staying up all night.

With that, Henry closed his eyes as he completely shut out the distracting thoughts that could prevent him from sleeping.

WAAW! WAAW! WAAAW!

Not sure how long it had been ever since he fell asleep, Henry was jolted awake by the loud alarm sounds of the facility. This was something that occasionally happened when there was someone that dared to try escaping. The security system here was modernized and there was no need for the security patrol to see the person that was trying to run away.

As he frowned, Henry turned his gaze and looked at the clock that was on the wall. On it, it showed that it was already midnight, and only a single minute had gone by ever since that happened.

The sleepiness in his eyes immediately disappeared. It seemed that he had underestimated the fatigue that came with the work that he was doing. He had actually overslept! Well, he couldn't be blamed as he didn't have anything that would alarm him the moment that the time was on the spot.

Henry currently had a feeling that the alarm wasn't related to anything like a person that was trying to run away. Instead, this was all related to the fact that the apocalypse had descended. And during this one minute, it had already caused something that alarmed the security of the institution that he was in.

BANG! BANG! TATATATA!

As if to prove that what he had thought about was true, there was a sound that came from outside the dorm. It was as if there was something that was colliding with the gate of the facility. And immediately after that, there was a rapid sound that came from the rapid gunfire.

This was enough to indicate that the apocalypse was here. Furthermore, with the information that he had received about the apocalypse, he could tell that this was something that was related to a horde of monsters.

"Henry, I never thought that your intuition would be right this time!" Adam exclaimed as he jumped from the top of the bed onto the ground. He immediately began changing into the clothes that were a little presentable.

Henry did the very same thing as the other youths that were present in the dorm. They all knew that the alarm was something that would always require them to gather at the meeting point.

After changing, the two of them joined the others as they immediately rushed out of the dormitory. Outside, all the lights were on as they illuminated the surroundings, making it seem like it was day-time.

Outside, Henry and the others could see that the security personnel were running around hurriedly. They were all panicked as they rushed towards the entrance of the facility, fully armed.
