Amyra's Secret

How is that even possible? August was shocked.

He was extremely cautious of whoever was around him and had Rhea observe the body movements of anyone that was within a two-meter range from him. Hence, he was always battle-ready and could respond to any danger.

But Amyra, someone that everyone thought was a weak, apprentice sorcerer, was actually an elite sorcerer, and was unknown to everyone all this while?

'What other secrets could she possibly be hiding? Why would she kiss me, an intermediate sorcerer? Was she making fun of me or simply playing around?' August was confused but at the same time, he remembered the scene that happened just now and when they looked into their eyes.

He could sense her affection, and genuine feelings for him during that moment. "Hmmm. Perhaps she has her reason for it." August surmised. He decided to put the issue to rest and ask her about it tomorrow.

The next morning August entered the office and saw Amyra standing beside his desk waiting for his arrival. If there was one thing that she was good at, it was her seriousness when it came to handling administrative tasks.

She was able to keep track of the various happenings within Toledo fort and she was really good at managing the welfare of the apprentices. Due to the revelations from Rhea yesterday, august had a clear indication as to why she was capable of all this.

She was an elite sorcerer, not far away from making her advancement to first-rank sorcerer! Her Spirit thus was extremely powerful and handling such tasks was not an issue for her. This is also why an elite rank 0 sorcerer like Sorcerer Diana back at Great Sorcerer Phelan's Tower was in charge of administration.

Good morning, Senior August, hope you had a good night. Amyra asked in concern.

August looked at her with a complicated expression. An elite sorcerer calls him 'senior'. That had to be the joke of the century!

"Honestly not so good. I want to ask you a question," August immediately cut to the chase.

"What is it Senior August?" Amyra still did not have any reaction to what he said and responded softly.

"From now on I want you to stop calling me senior. It is weird and underserving of me, especially coming from you." August did not mince words and called her out.

Amyra's eyes widened and she was inwardly shocked. "Could he have found out? There is no way. Just stay calm," She assured herself. But she couldn't hide her surprise any longer after hearing what he said next.

"I don't want to know why you are concealing your abilities and your true power. I just want to know if you were serious about what you said yesterday. If you were just playing around with me, then let us pretend that it never happened," August said seriously.

"I don't.....understand. How were you able to find out? I did not want anyone to know, especially you!" When she heard what he said, Amyra sighed while bowing her head in frustration and clenching her fists and a slight tone of anguish could be sensed in her tone.

Suddenly waves of spirit power that could be felt from her increased explosively to the levels of an elite sorcerer and engulfed the entire room. She lifted her head now and stared at August. Her usual green eyes were different this time.

It was vertically shaped, like a venomous snake that was patiently staring at its prey constantly, not diverting its gaze for a second and even August could not look at them directly without feeling his spirit losing its strength.

August couldn't help but take three steps back when he felt those powerful fluctuations and even blood seeped out of his nose due to the heavy suppression of his spirit. So this was the power of an elite sorcerer! He had been in front of Apprentice Leader Diana before but he didn't feel this kind of power from her and as a result, he did not think too much of elite sorcerers.

But today, he felt in person, the tyrannical power of a sorcerer that was on the verge of completing her ascension!

The office desk in the room began to shake as cracks appeared on it and creaking sounds could be heard from the rest of the furniture around them, on the verge of splintering. Even the glass windows had faint cracks on them!

Suddenly just like how it came, the spirit fluctuations immediately dwindled and disappeared instantly as if nothing happened.

Amyra's eyes also returned to normal her previous tyrannical aura returned to her usual peaceful state. The only thing that was different from previously was the blood on August's clothes due to the streak of blood coming from his nose.

She immediately came to her senses and realized what she had done and quickly approached August and cupped her hands on his face, wiping the blood away but couldn't wipe it off entirely, leaving a red smear on his cheek.

"I'm sorry. I lost my composure a bit. I did not mean to harm you."

Amyra did not shift her gaze from August all this while and she immediately apologized. August also smiled wryly and said, "You could have killed me just now. Amyra. I even felt your killing intent for a moment. Why didn't you do it? Hold on, is your name even Amyra?"

"It is not. My name is Mayra. For a moment a thought crossed my mind that you were sent by them but that was not possible. It is true that I could have killed you but that is not what I want. I'm not your enemy, August."

"I did not lie about my feelings for you. I am truly attracted to you. You are different from many men I have met and despite you being weaker than me, I know how much potential you possess. You are someone I truly admire. I was not playing around yesterday."

"I deliberately hid my power for a purpose. I do not want to say since it will just get you into trouble. Also, I did not tell you because I did not want you to feel inferior and treat me differently," 'Amyra', no Mayra said with a tone of guilt in her voice.

"As much as I have come to develop feelings for you, my background is complicated and it might be dangerous for you. This means that I may have to give up on you. I was wrong to have kissed you yesterday. I shouldn't have given in to my emotions," Mayra's eyes became wet when she said that and she sounded desolate and sad.

August pulled her closer and hugged her gently. He did not pull away this time. It was true that he was afraid of getting hurt. But didn't want to give up on himself. He did not want to abandon this person in front of him who had always cheered him on and genuinely cared for him! He could not let her down. That is not the kind of person he wanted to be.

"You don't have to feel sad. I accept your feelings towards me. I know that I don't have the strength to protect you right now but I can promise you that I would do my best for you. One day we will smash away the so-called 'danger'!" He looked straight into her eyes and said with conviction.

Mayra's wet eyes even became wetter as soon as she heard him say that and sobbed on August's chest. No one had ever treated her this way. Ever since she had left that place, she had always been on the run and had to hide her identity and power to escape their detection. She was always on her guard and had to unleash her special bloodline trait to charm others sometimes to remain anonymous.

That was until she met August. With his blond hair and golden eyes coupled with his dashing appearance, he gave her a feeling of hope and confidence, he had a clean and bright soul, and he was not influenced by her natural charm. For once, apart from her mother, she felt like there was another person she could trust, someone she could open her heart to.

Her instincts told her that he was not someone who was only interested in having sex with her, using her power as a tool or trying to kill her. Instead, someone who truly cared about how she felt and showed no greed when he looked at her. She was truly touched and felt warm in his arms and held him tightly.

After calming herself down she said. "I'm sorry for not trusting you earlier. I was afraid you would distance yourself from me if you knew of my background. But I will not hide it from you anymore."

"I am a member of the Ancient Medusa Clan which is one of the five ruling families of the Kemono Empire."
