The Secrets Between The Prince And I

They say the night holds many secrets, and secrets did Dean surely have. One night, Melissa was drawn to Dean, by a force much greater then she could ever comprehend. And of course, alcohol had a little something to do with it, and maybe lust as well. The morning Melissa woke up in Dean’s arms, everything changed for her. The way Dean made Melissa feel was in stark contrast to her ex-husband. She now knew what it was like to be completely desired, to be adored and she was not easily willing to give that up. When the King of Moldavia found out that his son was ready to marry a woman who was not only a few years older than his son was, had already been married, and to top it off also had two young children, he had enough. The King had granted his son freedom to study in Europe, but he would not stand for this disgrace. The King announced a matchmaking event, and plotted to make his son see that there were other, much more suitable brides, for Dean. Unwillingly, and without telling Melissa his identity, he went back to his home country that summer, as he was ordered by his father. He had made a deal, that if he did not fall for one of the participants, he was free to go. And that was all he wanted, going back to Melissa. Melissa was devastated when Dean was gone, without any proper explanation. She thought their love was forever gone... To chear Melissa up, her best friends thought it would be a great idea to participate in a matchmaking contest, she had read about on the internet. It would surely brighten Melissa's mood, wouldn't it? A free vacation for Melissa and maybe a prince for her. It sounded like musisc to Melissa's bestfriend's ears. Would their love survive the trial?

What are you doing here?

'Well… to help ease your mind… I don't why I got picked either," I said and held up my shoulders thinking of Dean. I did not have anything to offer him. Then I felt something build inside of me, anger or… I don't know…

As if she read my mind, she said; "Wonder what Dean will think of you competing for someone else's love."

Obviously I was not going though with it, but I did not need to give her any explanation what so ever. "And what do you mean; I drove him away?" My mind was full of questions and it kept me from exploding. "Did you really think it was going to be this easy," said Christal and she burst into flames, before I could erupt.

This was just really too much for me. I threw my hands up in the air, "what the heck is your problem," I asked incredulous. "Whatever," grumbled Christal and she walked away.

"Sorry," Lauren mumbled. I blew out sharply. "What have I ever done to her?" I thought out loud.

"Chrystal and Dean are childhood friends, you know," Lauren offered. No, I did not know. I shook my head. "Really?" I questioned. "Yep," she said. "Come sit with us," Lauren smiled. I was unsure if I should do that or not.

"I was actually coming to see Dani," I announced. "She is with Jason now, isn't she?" Lauren asked me. "Mhh… I don't think it is really that serious though," I told her. She was running off this summer to find her prince, so how serious could it be? "And you and Dean?" Lauren asked.

I felt heat pulsing to my cheeks. "I uhm.." I started to say. "Wow you've got it good sister," Lauren barked a laugh. "He is wonderful," I managed to get through my lips. "I know Christal meant it as a low blow, but seriously; how are you going to tell him that you will have to compete for the affection of someone else this summer?"

I felt a knot in my stomach. "Of course I am not going through with that," I told her feeling very irritated. "I believe that you can not withdraw from the contest," Lauren went on. My eyes were going to pop out of their sockets.

"You aren't kidding, are you?" Lauren shook her head. "Right.." I murmured. There must be a way, there always is.

Lauren invited me to hang out with her friends for most of the day. I did not want to see Dani anymore, so I took the offer.

Around supper I went back to my mom's new house and the boys asked if they could spend one more night at their grandma's. I knew that my mom told them to ask this. She probably did not want to be alone. I stayed until the boys went to sleep.

Instead of going home, I went back to Lauren. "Do you actually live here?" I asked her, eyeing the surroundings. Lauren giggled. "You would almost think that right," her boyfriend smirked and rolled his eyes. We were in his bedroom, watching a movie.

"I live at my mom's place," Lauren said after a while. "Technically you do." Jake joked. Lauren punched him playfully. "You guys are such a sweet couple," I told them. They had something deep, you could sense that from miles away.

When I felt the room getting a little steamier, I knew it was my cue to go. I wandered the hall of the incredibly large mansion and then decided I was going to see Pete.

I knocked on his door and Pete opened it bare-chested. Since he was a jock, his body was well-trained. "You have been working out," I joked. Of course he had. Pete flashed me a huge grin.

"What are you doing here?" he asked me. "I wondered if you want to hang for a while," I asked him. Pete cocked his head to the side, studying me and put a string of my hair behind my ear.

"Come on in," he said. Unlike Jake, Pete did not have a sofa, so he gestured for me to sit on his bed.

His room was just like I imagined it to be. It basically looked like a mini gym.

"I was just about to watch a movie… Will you join me?" Pete smiled. I nodded my head 'yes'. Pete gave me something to drink and put on the movie.

"I am not going to compete in that contest you know," I suddenly stated, thinking of the conversation I had with Lauren and Christal.

Pete eyed me questioningly. "I heard about that," he said and sighed. ""Yeah… I mean… Dean asked me to spend the summer with him.. so I am really.. really not going to enter that contest," I said, shaking my head. How did I get in this situation in the first place?

Dani, that was how.

"You and Dean huh…" Pete frowned, shifting uncomfortably. "He is coming back for the summer?" Pete asked me full of doubt.

"Nah.. he asked me if I want to spend the summer at his parents' house, wherever that is though."

"That is…. Fantastic," Pete shrugged. "Do you know where he is actually from?" I asked him. Pete lived with him for two years now, he probably should know.

"You don't know where your boyfriend is from?" Pete barked a dark laugh. "Well… no.. I guess not and Dean is definitely not my boyfriend," I said when the door of Pete's bedroom suddenly flew open.

It was Dean and he had probably heard all of it. Dean's jaws were clenched tight and his hands were balled into fists. His pale blue eyes held mine, making me unable to speak. My heart pumped so fast that I could hear my heartbeat in my ears.

The whole room was quiet, as Dean and I held some sort of staring contest. I was suddenly aware that Pete and I were sitting extremely close on his bed. Our arms were touching and it now felt like I was on fire.

"I'm sorry," Dean began to say. "I thought I might find my future wife here," he said coolly. "Wasn't that what you meant by me not being your boyfriend, my darling?" A small smile lingered on the edge of Dean's lips, but it did not reach his eyes. My heart almost stopped.

Dean wore a grey suit and a white blouse. He looked regal somehow

"What are you doing here?" I croaked.

"I missed you," Dean all but whispered, as if he did not know if that was the right thing to say. "But the real question is… what are you doing here?"
