Chapter 137: New Position Offer

Carter groaned as he minimized his browser and pushed himself up out of the office chair using the arms of it. He cleared his throat and fixed his tie as he unlocked his office door, finding Adalee there.

"Yes, Adalee? Did you need something?" Carter peered down at her.

"I wanted to speak with you about your schedule. You have two meetings scheduled at the same time. A clerical error. Should I push one back?" Adalee looked over the tablet.

"You came here to ask me if you should-" Carter reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose in thought. "Actually, can you do me a huge favor and postpone those meetings to tomorrow?"

"Are you sure, Sir?" Adalee was taken aback by his words and she nearly dropped her stylus.

"Yes, and I'd like you to take the rest of the day off." Carter searched her confused expression. "You deserve it for working so damn hard with Ms. Adams."
