Chapter 130: New Proposition

Carter cleared his throat and got ready to leave out to dinner. He jumped when Ariana showed up in the doorway of his closet, watching him tie his royal purple silk tie around his neck. He tightened the knot, dragging it up to touch his neck. His fingers trembled as he put his collar down around the double windsor knot.

"Are we going to talk about what happened earlier?" Carter swallowed hard and opened a drawer to grab a black belt from a drawer. "Or are we going to pretend like everything is fine?"

"Why are you seeing her?" Ariana's voice came out small as she peered down at her bare feet. "Why won't you let me go with you? I just want to meet her." She worried her bottom lip with her hands in front of her hips, intertwining her fingers together.

"Honey, I know you do, but-" Carter walked towards her after grabbing a pair of shoes.

"Don't but me, Carter. I feel like you're hiding something from me." Ariana swallowed hard and felt two hands clasp her shoulders.
