The wedding ring

Jordan rose to his feet and hid under the bed. He was sweating profusely. I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. I then heard the door flung open, but I did not move and opened my eyes. I then heard someone walking away from my room. A minute later, Jordan came out of bed.

“Hey, are you up?” Jordan asked with a trembling voice. I opened my eyes and gave him a grumpy look.

“Go to your room."

I then closed my eyes. Jordan shook my hand to get my attention. I jerked Jordan’s hand. I was furious. I was not talking because my throat hurt.

“I know you are hiding your true self because when you saw me in the kitchen doorway, you were shocked. Your eyes were trying to find Jessica, who replaced me.” Jordan said while sitting next to me.

I sat up and pressed my lips together. “What do you want?” I whispered. I then started coughing. Jordan took hold of my hand and looked into my eyes. Danny, tell me you have an escape plan. You will take me with you,” Jordan said with a sad face.
