The Adams family was a century-old famous family in Austin, one of the three major families ranked along with the Noble family and the Hail family. But in this generation, few talents were from the Adams family, so it was little left behind by the Noble family and the Hail family.
It was quiet all the way, and no one in the car spoke.
Louis secretly looked the girl beside him up and down from the reflection in the car window. She had dense eyelashes, a straight nose, and a pair of clear eyes. But her skin was so pale that it made her look sickly.
He could even clearly see the blue blood vessels on her slender neck as if it could be broken with one hand.
He didn't understand what the old men were thinking. Why did they want him to be engaged to such a young girl?
While he was quietly looking her up and down, Maggie suddenly turned her head.
There was no time to withdraw his gaze, and their eyes met at once.
Louis was frank and directly stared into her eyes. He raised his eyebrows slightly and said coldly, "What's the matter?"
Maggie's eyes were deep, and her eyelashes were long. She shook her head and raised her phone. "You've been watching me."
Louis was taken aback for a moment, feeling that it was a little interesting. This was the first time someone talked to him like this.
"Yeah."
He admitted it directly, waiting for her to continue to say something.
Maggie stared at him for a few seconds. She blinked, and her face was indifferent and expressionless. She put down her phone and continued to keep her movement just now. There was no more response.
Even though Louis had seen all kinds of people in these years, it was the first time he had met someone like Maggie... who was a little too calm.
It was as if nothing in this world could arouse her interest.
How interesting.
He rarely curled his lips and stroked the bracelet on his wrist with his thumb. He didn't speak anymore.
The car drove smoothly and arrived at the destination quickly.
The Adams Villa was located in the city center and was built a long years ago. It was on the land which cost a lot.
The driver opened the car door, and the heat wave came oncoming again.
Maggie didn't get out of the car. She couldn't stand the heat.
"Get out of the car."
Louis whispered in her ear.
Maggie frowned and got out of the car.
As soon as she got out of the car, she saw a row of people standing at the gate of the villa. They seemed to have been waiting for her for a long time.
Louis led her over there. And he spoke while walking.
"Do you know them?"
Maggie shook her head.
The people from the Adams family probably feared that someone with bad intentions would fish in troubled waters, so the information they gave was all false.
At least until now, the Olson family really thought she would return to a poor place.
Even if she had known the details of everyone from the Adams family, she still had to pretend that she knew nothing.
"Maggie."
As soon as she walked close, an old man in a black suit, who took the lead, stepped forward with a cane.
"Good girl, good girl." The old man's eyes turned red before he could say a few words.
Maggie looked at him quietly with her eyes. Her expression was calm and indifferent.
When Carson found out the news, he knew that Maggie couldn't speak, so he just grabbed her hand excitedly and patted her comfortingly.
"I'm sorry, Maggie. You have been through a lot."
Then, he said to Louis next to them, "Louis, thank you for picking up Maggie."
Louis looked indifferent. "Mr. Adams, it is my pleasure."
"Dad, don't get too excited. Take care of your health."
A middle-aged man in a suit stepped forward to support Carson.
"Maggie, I am your oldest uncle, Braxton Adams."
The man looked very gentle. He was dressed in a silver-gray suit, looking elegant and generous.
Maggie looked at him and pursed the corners of her lips.
Braxton Adams knew that Maggie couldn't speak, so he smiled generously. "Maggie, don't worry. I have already contacted the doctors in Losta about your problem. It can be healed. Some experts from Losta will come soon."
Maggie blinked and took out her phone to type.
"No need, but thank you, Braxton."
She knew that her aphasia couldn't be cured.
And she didn't come back to the Adams family for treatment.
She wanted to find out how her parents died, and back then... why they deliberately abandoned her.
