President/Owner of the School of Elites POV
I sat silently still on my swivel chair and watched my telephone ringing for the 3rd time. Sighing, I picked it up and waited for the man to speak up.
"You knew too well that I can buy your school, right?" It's him again. How many times have he kept on saying that?
"All of this is just because of a student?"
He's been constantly bugging me, asking me to expel a certain student from my school and threatening me by taking everything from me. I wasn't even threatened because I have a lot of connections. My school stood proud and has a lot of big time stockholders. One of my stockholders is the great Sandejas Inc. My school is untouchable.
"What do you want with him?" I asked again when he didn't say anything.
"It's none of your business. I want him out," he ordered in a demanding voice. I'm not someone who obeys orders because I also make one. He's not the only one powerful in this twisted world.
"It is my business. He's one of my students and he legally entered into my school," I heard the other line became silent waiting for me to say something again. "He's staying."
"Not for long. He doesn't belong in there. I guess I'll do it my way." And he ended the call.
I can only save that boy from him by letting the boy stay in my school but I don't know what else he can do. He'll have other means to get him.
Jaden's POV
I was walking on my way to the school. Unfortunately, I don't have a car on my own and the only car that me and my uncle had is that old beat up pick-up truck he had. I didn't mind walking though. It's just a 15 minute walk away from my house. My uncle offered me a ride but I refused. He's just gonna pester me in the entire travel and probably ruin my day.
When I arrived at the school, a lot of students' cars were parked and most of them are brand new sports cars. Okay, that's why they have this big parking area. I walked trying to find my classroom since I was not able to find it yesterday. The students were busy chitchatting on the hallway and some of them stopped when I walked pass by.
"He's so good looking."
"What class is he in?"
"I wish he's my classmate!"
Damn, this school is big. I looked around to ask someone but most of them were looking at me. The girls looked at me with dreamy eyes and most of them giggled when I looked back at them. Okay, this is not what I expect my day would be. I just want to have a normal day at school.
Unbothered, I walked again not caring about the stares until someone stole the paper I was holding which was my class schedule and classroom. I looked at that person with a bored face.
"Hey newbie, lost are we?"
Why do these rich kids keep on bothering me? I tried to get my schedule back but he hid it behind him making it hard for me to snatch it away from him. I looked at him and gestured him to give it back to me. He looked at my paper and smirked. He's the same height as I am and I think, just one punch is enough but I can't get detention on the second day of school right? I already visited the clinic yesterday and my uncle would really kill me if I stop by at the principal's office.
"What? Can't speak?" He mocked and I could feel that the other students gathered at our direction to witness this bullying part of my life. I clenched my fist making my knuckles turn white. I can't lose control just because of this mongrel. My good records could be ruined if I punch him this instant, although it could satisfy my anger and could set boundaries to others to not mess up with me.
"Just give it back while I'm still asking nicely." I tried to smile to him but the mongrel smirked making my so perfectly trained smile to disappear.
"Ow! Should I be scared?" I was about to lift my clenched fist and punch that smirk on his face when someone stood in front of me and grabbed my schedule out of that mongrel's hand. This mongrel should be trained.
"Stop this, Lucas." So the mongrel has a name.
"Tsk! Next time, when I see you," that Lucas walked towards the guy who's also about in my height and stopped me from punching him and whispered on his ears loud enough that I could also hear him. He looked towards my direction and whispered to that guy. "I'll make your life a living hell too." He walked away and smirked again at me before leaving the hallway.
"Here, I'm sorry about what happened." The guy gave me back my schedule and I just thanked him. He just saved that mongrel from me and not the other way around. He smiled at me and I was about to head to my missing classroom when he talked again. "What class are you in?" When I looked back at him, he was also walking beside me.
"A," I sparingly answered and he smiled again at me looking so happy.
Brand new shoes, expensive Rolex watch, hair properly fixed with gel and smells Gucci. He's another rich kid. I think I'm the only one with the scholarship in here.
"Cool! We're on the same class!" He patted my shoulders and motioned for me to follow him. "By the way, I'm Daniel Astero." He held his hand for me to shake and I took it.
"Jaden, Jaden Samaniego." By the mention of my name, he stopped and looked at me with wide eyes.
"You're the Top 1?" I just nodded and I walked again to our classroom leaving him still shocked but later on, he ran towards me and again walked beside me.
"I was absent yesterday but I bet it was cool to give a speech, right?" I just shrugged my shoulders. He sure likes to talk so much.
"I was also not around yesterday." When I said that, he looked at me with shock again like he couldn't believe that I ditched that speech yesterday. It's just a speech.
When we reached the classroom, everyone stopped what they're doing and looked at me and Daniel guy in the doorway. The homeroom teacher also looked at our direction and smiled at us. She gestured for me and Daniel to come closer to her and we did. Now, we are standing in front of our classmates to introduce ourselves.
"Class, these two boys in here are your classmates. They were not present yesterday because of acceptable reasons, I guess." When she said that, she looked at me, eyeing me that she knew what happened yesterday. She also looked at Daniel and gave the guy with reassuring smile.
Maybe my absence was not that acceptable for her to give me with that smooth expression like what she gave to Daniel. I looked around to see where could I sit but to my surprise, I saw her familiar glaring eyes and knotted forehead. Well, this is interesting.
"Now, everyone introduced themselves yesterday except you two." She motioned for Daniel to introduce himself and Daniel stood close to everyone and smiled.
"Hey everyone, I'm Daniel Astero. It's nice to meet you all." Daniel smiled and it was mostly the girls who clapped for him.
"What rank are you at the top list?" Some of our classmates asked Daniel and Daniel smiled while rubbing his neck, appealing shy.
"Uhm, 3." So he's in the top 3? Not bad.
This Class is full of intelligent students and was labeled in Class A. Not maintaining the desired grade and you'll be automatically removed from Class A and be transferred to Class B.
Daniel steps aside and it was my turn to introduce myself now. I sighed and looked at my classmates and when her eyes met mine, I smirked.
"Jaden Sky Samaniego. Let's have a good year together." Everyone was silent for a moment until they started to murmur and somewhat looked at me with amusement and curiosity. They're not gonna ask me about what my rank is right? Obviously by now, every one of them knew who I am because I'm the guy who ditched the yearly speech on the first day of school. It seems like a big deal for them to give a speech.
"Okay class, we're gonna start the lesson for today." The teacher looked around for a vacant seat. "Daniel and Jaden, why don't you two, sit on the vacant seats. Okay?" I just nodded and didn't wait to be instructed where to sit.
I walked and felt the stares of my classmates. I stopped on the spot next to her. I could hear the murmurs again and whispers as I sat beside her. Our classmates were almost shocked of what's happening. Daniel just smiled and seemed to find the whole situation funny. He sat on the vacant seat in front of me.
"You reserved the seat just for me?" I asked her with the hint of playfulness in my voice. I know she didn't reserve it for me. Maybe everyone was just scared to sit beside her. Who wouldn't? I mean, she almost cracked up my skull.
"Stop being delusional." She glared at me and I just smirked. Should I make her day a living hell for smacking me yesterday?
"Now I know why they're not sitting beside you." She gaped and clutched her fist.
"If I just have a thick book right now, I'll still gonna smack it in your head again until you will clearly see how pissed off I am," she threatened at me with those dagger eyes.
"Should I be honored? The great Emerald Sandejas is threatening me." I tried to stop smiling from watching her angry face. Her cheeks turning red from anger and her eyes were glaring at me but I just find her like a little angry puppy.
From the moment I saw her on the library, I already knew who she was. She's the only daughter of the Sandejas and her brother is a college student of the same school. She appeared multiple times on TVs so how could I not know about her? I just didn't know her to be this ferocious puppy.
"So you knew me now?" She raised her eyebrows as if telling me to be scared since I knew who she is.
"Yeah," I shrugged my shoulders. "Nice name by the way." She gasped as if she did not expect I will say that. The way I said it was so casual and I just treated her like nobody. She was trying her best not to smack me again in front of our teacher who was already teaching Physics, something about Newton's Law which I already knew.
"Excuse me?" I hear the teacher suddenly said but I was still looking at Emerald while she, on the other hand, tried to control her anger at me. "Jaden, could you please explain the 1st law of Newton?" The teacher caught our attention and some of our classmates looked at us.
Emerald immediately pretended to write something on her paper acting as if she was listening the whole time. I scoffed and shook my head at her. She gave me a side glance and glared at me. I stood up, not even opening my book which I don't know if I had bought it with me.
"Newton's 1st law of motion, an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion at constant velocity, unless acted upon by an unbalance force." I paused letting them process what I said. "It is called Law of Inertia." The teacher nodded and gestured me to continue.
"Example, if a thick Human Anatomy book is laid on top of the table," I looked at my side to see her reaction and she widened her eyes from shock of what I'm saying. She looked at me with hatred and then looked away because I know I pissed her off again by letting her remember about our encounter on the library yesterday. "the object will stay at rest unless acted by an outside force like Emerald picking it up and smacking it so someone else applying force to the book." My classmates laughed at my example and some of them clapped at how I delivered it with causality. They all knew about what happened yesterday. The teacher smiled at me and let me sit down.
"Way to use me as your example huh?" She whispered and if glares could kill, I would be dead by now.
"It's effective though." I shrugged my shoulders and smiled at her.
"Your twisted ways of embarrassing me is highly appreciated," she said with a hint of sarcasm and hatred. She then looked away and focused her attention on the discussion. I just sighed and looked at the board with a bored expression.
*..*
Lunch came and before the bell rings, Emerald walked out of the class and I just looked at her retreating figure. I must have pissed her off so hard. I just couldn't stop ruining her day when I always remember how he smacked the damn book in my head.
"Dude, want to grab some lunch?" Daniel looked at me and gave me hopeful eyes telling me to have lunch with him. Why does he keeps on bothering me? It doesn't mean that our absence yesterday immediately qualifies us to being so called friends.
"I'm tired. I'm not going to have a lun—" before I could even finish my made up lie. He stood up and grabbed my arm that made me stood up too. I just gave him a bored look.
"Come on! I'm starving!"
He dragged me out of my seat and into the busy place of the cafeteria. They were a lot of foods and all of those were free given the fact that of course you paid the half million tuition fee. In my case, I'm a scholar student and I'm basically having anything without payment.
He made me line up and gave me a tray. He slightly pushed me to move when the line moved. Groaning, I just obeyed him and waited for the culinary people to give me some food. After having a tray full of food, I looked for a seat and noticed again the stares of other students.
"He's the Jaden Samaniego?"
"I think he could be in the top 5 of the boys in here!"
"He's so good looking! So he's way smarter than Emerald?"
Can they just stop talking about me? I can practically hear them talking about me. I looked around and sure the cafeteria is full and most of the students are looking at my direction. Some have that angry look on their faces which are all boys and most are the giggling and lustful stares of the girls. Daniel nudged me to sit on a vacant seat and I just obeyed without saying anything. He then sat in front of me. This person just can't do anything without another person to drag with him. Can't he eat alone?
"Wow, everyone's talking about you." I just shrugged my shoulders and tried to have a taste on my food. Okay, this is way better than what my uncle's cooking every day. He's not really a good cook and it's the first time I actually tasted a delicious and edible food. I'm financially struggling right? I just can't eat any delicious foods without paying so much.
"You don't seem to talk too much. You know it's not a crime to talk, bro." I looked at Daniel who was also eating a burger. This is why I don't socialize much. The need to have a conversation is a requirement. I'm more on a listener than a talker.
"You weren't asking anything so I don't have any reason to answer or talk." He looked at me with excitement. How is he having fun with my rudeness? I just don't like to interact that much unless of course if you're my Uncle John and then I'm supposed to talk to you or else he'll not let me attend this school anymore. I don't see the need to interact with people I barely knew. Besides, uncle gave me a specific advice not to trust anybody and he even glared at me to emphasize his point.
"You are a one funny guy! We're gonna be good friends."
How can he be so casual with me? Still, I can't trust him but I can play nicely with him if he's up to something. His persistent need of wanting me talk to him is giving me suspicions. Normally, if someone is rude to you or showing no hint of interest, you would rather walk away but this guy is the exact opposite. He's annoying and the way he said it was like a command for me to be his friend. Rich kids.
"Don't you have anyone else to bother?" I asked him back. Well I expect him to stand up and walk away from me or smack me just like Emerald did but he just looked up like he's thinking and shrugged his shoulders.
"Well everyone is kind of boring, you know. They only show you the side of them they wanted you to see."
"Alright," I simply said and ate another type of food on my plate which I don't know the name. "You can assert how I acted to you now. It's basically saying I don't give a damn about you, rich kids." He looked taken aback but then tilted his head and leaned on the table like I was a very interesting new discovered species.
"Wait, aren't you one of us who you refer as rich kids?" After what I've said, that's what he just heard from me? Is it me or is this school is freaking weird?
"That's none of your business—"
"Bro, how can you be so suspicious of me? Does everyone around you treat you like they'll stab you in your sleep?" Now I look taken aback. Was I too obvious of not trusting anybody? I looked at him and he furrowed his eye brows and crossed his arms like he's my father and I'm his son scolding me for being like a rebel and emo kid.
"I'm poor," He looked confused now of what I said. "Are you sure you want me to be your friend?" He was about to say something but I stopped him. "I might rob you off with your money." He looked at me like I'm talking stupid things.
"Seriously? No robbers would admit that they will steal to the person they're gonna steal." We kept silent for a minute, testing the waters and later on he burst out laughing and I did the same. We may look ridiculous now that we're laughing our asses out. No wonder he's in the top students of this school.
"I'm sorry. I just don't feel like trusting anybody. Besides, it's a school for rich kids," I admitted in defeat and we continued eating our food. I just kept eating but my plate is still somewhat full.
"No worries, I'm not gonna stab you or rob you," he playfully said and laughed at his own joke. I just shake my head in his stupid remark and smiled.
"I'm poor, how can you rob me?" And we laughed again. It was somehow good to have a friend.
