The Scarlet Planet

"Ugh. Wh-What happened?" I moaned, standing from the red, dusty ground on the planet Mars.

It's the year 2028, and around 7 months ago, a company called Eternity sent a group of 4 individuals to Mars in order to expand Earth's knowledge about the planet. I, Jay Spencer, was selected to be one of those 4 individuals

Oh that's right... I ejected from the space shuttle after hearing the landing begin to fail.

"Wait, what happened to the other crewmates?!" I squealed dashing off in the first direction I could think of.

After sprinting for about 30 seconds I came to a quick halt at the realization that I wasn't on Earth, but was on Mars where the oxygen is limited. I took a peak at my oxygen level out of pure fear for my life, only to see that my oxygen tank was nearly empty. At the sight of this, my faint hope of surviving with my crewmates began to rapidly fade.

Is this how I die? No, I refuse to let it end like this. There has to be something I can do. Rather than sitting there and accepting my fate, I would rather wander around in hopes of finding the space shuttle along with my crewmates.

Feeling the oxygen rapidly deplete from the tank with every second that past made me question if there was actually any hope of surviving this situation.

It felt as if I had been exploring for years on end. My lungs seemed to finally be giving out, as I could no longer breathe even a slight breath of air. Out of pure desperation to survive, I took off in a flash, sprinting forward like there was no tomorrow.

After around a second or two of running faster than ever before, I came to a halt after seeing a faint rectangular silhouette emerge from the red dust which covered the entire planet. Out of curiosity, I began dashing towards the figure, knowing fully well that I would die in a few seconds due to lack of oxygen.

Getting closer to the rectangular figure made me realize what kind of thing it actually was. It stood on what seemed to be cracked, mossy stone with broken stone pillars on both sides. It seemed to be ruins of some sort, but I had no time to be entranced by such things.

In the middle of the rectangle a bright looking wall appeared. On the other side looked to be a grass plain with its bright green color wonderfully contrasting with vibrant yellow tone of the dandelions attached to it. In the background however, was a peach colored sunset which seemed to have wrapped up the whole sky.

It's beautiful...

The words refused to come out of my mouth due to the lack of oxygen.

I'm running out of time. Should I try and walk through that thing? Well I guess it's not like I have anything else I can do.

As I reluctantly stepped through that portal like ruin, I felt an incredibly sharp pain course throughout my body. I could feel every bone in my body being broken one after another. It felt like my body was taking on the shape of a pretzel while being stuffed into a blender.

After what felt like an eternity, the pain came to a sudden stop.

As I slowly opened my eyes I could here the unfamiliar voices of a man and woman.

"Awww, you're so cute aren't you~?" The woman cooed with her creamy white arm wrapped tightly around the toned man behind her.

"Guu?" Trying to ask about the current situation, a voice that wasn't my own spilled out of my mouth.

Astonished, I took a peek downwards only to see the pasty white hands of a toddler.

Are these my hands? How? Was this the doing of that mysterious portal I went through just now? Had I been taken over the body of a newborn baby like I've seen in some of those novels I've read? But I know one thing for sure, this whole event has got my curiosity running wild. I'll get to the bottom of what happened, without fail.

"Now, what should we name him dear?" The woman with shiny blond hair questioned eagerly as she glanced in the direction of the well built man with her eyes, shaded with a mix of blue and green.

"Let's see... what about Ash... Ash Moonstar" The deep voice of the dark haired man rang like a gong.
