The Rooh of Greed

Cultivation is a path of rebellion — rebellion against the world, rebellion against Heaven and Earth. Rebellion against oneself! The journey to the apex is fraught with bloodshed. It's a path of no return that only the bravest of men can tread. However, courage alone is not enough to reach the end of this arduous road. Only those who can embrace the loneliness of this journey, all while enduring the unimaginable pain and suffering constantly hurled at them along this infinitely long path of cultivation, stand a chance to reach the peak. Yet, even then, it remains a one-in-a-billion chance. Does this mean there have never been individuals at the top? No, there have been those who reached the pinnacle, but they are a mere handful compared to the countless beings who have aspired to ascend since the beginning of time. So, what sets these supreme beings apart from the multitude of people who have walked the path of cultivation? Is it luck? Perhaps. Wisdom? Well, one cannot afford to be a fool and still be a king right. Wealth? Certainly, but it is not everything. Perseverance? Well, that goes without saying. But something is still missing, something important... What about fate and destiny? It could very well be a factor! However, isn't cultivation all about defying one's fate and forging their destiny? Then what is that one quality which separates the masses from being a supreme individual?? *** Wei Wushang slowly closed the book he was reading, leaning back in his chair. Closing his eyes which were filled with fatigue, he muttered softly. "It's the willingness to sacrifice. To achieve something great one must be ruthless towards both the world and oneself, treating everything equally. Only then can one achieve true greatness. Something that can be gained easily is not worthy of greatness, and that which seems impossible to achieve is the truth of the soul." Wei Wushang's shamelessness(1/2)

"What's happening at this hour? Can't even catch a breath." One of the guards muttered with displeasure.

Another guard replied with a frown, "Quit your yapping. I'm pretty sure I heard a woman and a man screaming just a few minutes ago. And that voice seemed to come from around the chief's place. I wonder if he's okay?"

"Agreed. Now that six of us are here, let's hurry and investigate." The earlier commotion from the guard station had alerted them. They quickly formed a small group and hurried towards the chief guard's residence.

Upon arrival, all of them were left stunned.

"Heavens, such a strong stench of blood. Something seems off here."

"Chief! Chief! Chief—! No response at all."

"Shit, what could have happened?"

"Hmph, quit panicking. The entrance is open. What's holding us back from going in? Grab your balls and move forward."

The guards exchanged glances before steeling their resolve and moving forward.

At the same time.

"Just in case..." Wei Wushang gently stabbed his saber into the little boy's heart, completely eradicating any potential threats.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps and yelling could be heard from outside the room.

'Took them long enough,' Wei Wushang swiftly grabbed the nine spirit stones lying on the floor and tucked them into his robes. Since the moment Wei Wushang had struck the chief guard with the wine jar until now, only 6 minutes had gone by.

Following that, he calmly proceeded toward the living room.

As soon as Wei Wushang entered the living room, he noticed six men gathered around an unconscious Zhang Wei.

"Who's there?" One of the guards noticed Wei Wushang's presence and swiftly turned around, unsheathing his sword.

Without delay, the rest of the guards followed suit, but their expressions abruptly shifted upon locking eyes with the cold-faced teenager.

Everyone was shocked, not expecting Wei Wushang to be present here. However, their shock rapidly transformed into anxiety when they noticed the blood-drenched saber in his hand.

Beads of sweat started trickling down their foreheads.

The unconscious Zhang Wei, along with the absence of Feng Tian and his family, was perplexing. The chaotic state of the room, the shattered wine jar mixed with blood, and finally, the sight of this fifteen-year-old boy with a bloodied saber - their thoughts ran wild, drawing various conclusions.

Furthermore, Wei Wushang appeared to be greatly infuriated as he glared at them with a fierce look.

𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵?

All the guards shared this thought.

Seconds continued to tick, yet Wei Wushang maintained his fierce glare, instilling a strange sense of oppression in them.

Finally, one of the guards couldn't hold it in any longer. He controlled his fear, deeply bowing towards Wei Wushang, and politely asked, "Young lord, what are you doing here? Did something happen?"

Who would have known that right after he finished speaking, Wei Wushang would beckon him to come forward.

The guard who was beckoned felt a bad feeling welling up within him, but he lacked both authority and courage to refuse Wei Wushang's command.

Already regretting his earlier words, he forced a flattering smile and walked forward.

Wei Wushang tossed the saber aside and raised his hand in a flash.

Slap!

With a resounding smack, he landed a solid slap on the guard's face.

The guard immediately covered his right cheek, stumbling two steps backward, his face displaying utter shock. The flattering smile on his face was wiped out of existence.

"Useless bastard, did I tell you to speak?" Wei Wushang seethed in anger as he growled in a low voice.

The guard opened his mouth as if to say something, but then quickly closed it and shook his head.

However, Wei Wushang was unwilling to let go.

Slap!

Another clear slap echoed through the room.

The guard covered both of his swollen cheeks with his hands. He was stricken dumb.

Wei Wushang pointed at him and angrily rebuked, "I asked you a question and you dare not answer. You sure have guts!"

The guard stammered, "Y-Young Lord, I..."

"Enough, go back," Wei Wushang waved his hand impatiently, but then his body suddenly started to shake.

𝘖𝘩, 𝘯𝘰....

The guards were truly terrified now.

One could possibly reason with an angry person, but with a lunatic, what can be done? And this person in front of them was clearly not sane.

Wei Wushang's eyes were bloodshot, the rage in them turning to madness. He glared angrily at the guards before bellowing in fury, "Incompetent fools! Useless dogs, every one of you. My life was in danger, and none of you came to protect me. You deserve death for such incompetence! What's the point of being academy guards if you can't fulfill your duty? Ahh, I want to eat your heart!"

And then, without saying another word...

Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!

In his extreme rage, Wei Wushang began slapping the guards one after another. Each guard received a few tight slaps, and not one of them dared to complain due to fear.

Challenging this madman? No thanks!

They could only clench their fists in anger and endure silently. The veins in their foreheads bulged, and the sound of teeth grinding emitted cracking noises. They were all filled with anger, with no outlet to vent it on.

Only when the guards were on the brink of fainting from pain did Wei Wushang finally stop his slapping spree.

'This is simply outrageous!'

'Too much, not even my wife beats me like this.'

'My handsome face, it hurts!'

This group of guards were broken both mentally and physically; they either ended up with bloody noses and swollen faces, or gasping for cold air.

Wei Wushang glared at all of them in disgust before coldly spitting out a wad of saliva. He pointed at the unconscious Zhang Wei and said in righteous indignation, "You useless bunch, take a lesson from him. If not for him, I'd have been dead by now. When your treacherous chief ambushed me, this mortal risked his life to shield me. Sigh, it's a shame he took such a sinister blow to the skull. It would be good if he can even remember his name when he wakes up."

Instantly, all of the guards glared at Zhang Wei with intense hatred. But then it suddenly hit them;

Traitorous chief?

But Wei Wushang didn't allow them much time to think, quickly giving out orders. "You there, carry this mortal hero back to my residence. I'll personally take care of him until he recovers. As for the rest of you, clean up the mess over there."

Wei Wushang looked furious on the surface, but his heart was calmly analyzing the situation.
