Chapter Three

Caiden stood in front of his house, and watched how quiet everywhere is. His mom would definitely be asleep now and he wouldn't like to interrupt her sleep by knocking.

"I just hope I'm with my keys else there's gonna be trouble" Caiden muttered to himself while looking into his pocket for his keys.

"Ahhh there you are" he exclaimed and let out a sigh of relief as he found his keys.

He slowly and gently opened the door, trying not to make any sound. He closed the door after him, picked up his shoes in his hands and is about tiptoeing to his room when all of a sudden he is struck hard on the head with frying pan by someone who kept on hitting him.

"Damn, mom it's me stop" Caiden cursed as he rambled for the light switch which he successfully found and turned on.

"Ouch mom, I know you are angry but do you have to hit so damn hard" Caiden complained to the lady who has stop hitting as he rubbed the affected areas to soothe the pain.

"I'm sorry, I thought it was a burglar or something. Besides it's your fault, that's what you get for coming home at this time" the woman holding a frying pan answered, she is Mrs Sonia Jerome, Caiden's mom.

Sonia is an average size woman with a good shape and physic. She is about 5 feet tall with a light brown hair that stops just above her shoulders. She has emerald green eyes, pointed nose and small pink lips. In all, she is a beauty even in her Early forties.

Caiden took after his mother is everything except for his hair colour and body structure. While his mother has light brown hair, his is raven black which he got from his father and he always kept them high but neat.

He has emerald green eyes, pointed nose and pink lips like his mom with a long slim jaw, his body structure is like that of a wrestler with muscles at the right places and in the right size, not too large and not too small.

"I'm sorry, I was working so I didn't realize how late it is" Caiden apologized and sank into one of the couch in the living room.

"Look at the time, it's past one o'clock in the morning and you say you didn't realize how late it is, do you know how worried I was? I was this close to calling the police" Sonia said as she brought her thumb and index finger close to demonstrate what she said. She went ahead to scolded him like a six year old.

"Mom, I'm sorry for making you worry, please forgive annoying your son and it won't happen again" Caiden apologized as he held both of her hands and kissed her knuckles.

Caiden's mom sighed and sat down beside him on the couch with him still holding her hands. He knows exactly how to pacify her.

"I couldn't even get a good night sleep because I was freaking out. I think it's high time you left that bar attendant job" she said as she looked him directly in the eyes.

"What? hell no, mom do you know how hard it is to find a job with a good pay like that one here in los Angeles" Caiden exclaimed also letting go of his mom's hands.

"Don't worry about working, I'll provide everything, I also think it's time you went to college" she argued further still sitting close to him.

"Mom we already talked about this, I'll go to college when the time is right, but now I have to work and earn money for our up keep, besides you know your store is trying but it will crumble if we put all our expenses on it" Caiden calmly explained to his mom.

"I know dear, I know but I just don't want to compromise your safety, and this job of yours is doing just that" she said in a pleading tone.

"Alright from now on, I will be home early okay? and don't worry about me I can take care of myself" Caiden reassured her to make her happy.

"Okay darling, there are some hamburgers and cheese in the fridge, eat and head up to bed. I'm going to bed" Caiden's mom said and stood up.

"I'm also going to bed, I'm not feeling hungry" Caiden said and stood up as well.

"In that case, let's go upstairs and get some sleep" Caiden's mom said and started climbing the stairs to the upper part of the house where both of their rooms are located.

"Man, what a day!" Caiden exclaimed as he got into his room, took off his clothes and shoes and flung his tired body on his bed.

"I just hope tomorrow will be better than today" Caiden said and after sometime he dozed off.

"Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" came the annoying noise of Caiden's bedside alarm clock.

"I thought I just fell asleep, why is this damn thing screaming now" Caiden mumbled in a sleepy voice and sluggishly hit the snooze button.

He got up and looked at the clock only to find out that the time is six o'clock in the morning.

"That went fast" he said while standing up and walked into the bathroom.

He brushed his teeth and came back into his room where he got himself prepared for his morning runs.

"Good morning mom" Caiden greeted his mom whom he met as he stepped out of his room.

"Morning honey, how was your night? hope you slept well" Sonia replied to her son's greetings as they both made their way down the stairs.

"I slept pretty well and how was your night?" Caiden asked in return.

"Mine was good, where are you going to dressed up in a track suit this morning?" Caiden's mom asked.

"I'm going for my usual morning jogs mom, I mean where else do I go every morning dressed like this?" Caiden asked slightly confused at his mother's question. She knew he always go for jogging every morning so why is she asking.

"I know, I mean you did not come home early last night, and you didn't sleep early and here you are about to go jogging" Caiden's mom said in a worried tone.

"I'll be fine mom, I won't go far today, just around the street and I'm back alright?" Caiden replied.

"Alright I don't think you will find me at home when you get back so go get your spare key. Your breakfast will be on the dinning table when you get back" she said and headed towards the kitchen.

"Alright mom, I always have my keys anyway so I think I'll be off, but not without your blessings" he said and walked towards his mom who grabbed his cheeks and kissed him on his forehead.

"I love sweetie" she said and Caiden smiled. "Love you too mom, bye" Caiden replied and dashed out of the house.
