Chapter 5 Becoming An Assistant

Mrs. Jiang certainly knew their disappointment. Moreover, the order seemed sudden and without prior negotiation. Not wanting the two men to think anything of Aaron Liu, she thought of a way to keep them from prolonging the matter.

"Shouldn't you be happy? I will raise the salary and bonuses for both of you." That was the only way Mrs. Jiang could shut them up. To her, no argument and no rejection were much better.

"Thank you, Mrs. Jiang. We'll do whatever you say." The two men seemed very eager to get to work at the company. There was no difference between working at home or at the company.

One by one, they went out, leaving Mrs. Jiang alone. She realized that she had done a lot for Aaron Liu. But it was worth the sacrifice of the young man who had helped her.

"Call Aaron to meet me in my office," Mrs. Jiang ordered a servant standing nearby. It seemed best to break the news to someone who had been his helper.

Aaron Liu was still on the verge of consciousness. He was shocked when a servant came and tried to wake him up. With some force, the man opened his eyes and exited his bed.

"Can I help you?" A question that sounded very polite for a servant working in that house.

"Mrs Jiang has called for you, Sir. She's waiting in her office," the maid replied kindly.

The servant finally escorted Aaron Liu to meet the owner of the luxurious mansion he lived. Once at the door, he invited the hostess's guest inside.

"Please come in, Sir." A polite greeting came from the mouth of a servant entrusted to care for Aaron Liu's needs while living in the mansion.

After sighing a few times, Aaron Liu entered the room before him. He turned the door handle and pushed it in.

"Come in, Aaron!" Just as the door opened, Mrs. Jiang immediately asked him to come in. "Sorry for disturbing your rest, Young man," said the house owner.

"No problem, Grandma. I've been awake for a while." Aaron Liu deliberately lied to Mrs. Jiang. He didn't want to make the old lady feel bad for waking him up. He was still lost in a dream when a servant came to his room.

Mrs. Jiang could see that the young man was lying to her. Moreover, Aaron Liu's face strongly suggested that he had just woken up. With slow steps, she pulled a man's hand, helping him, inviting him to sit on a chair.

"Starting tomorrow, you will be my assistant. I hope you don't mind, Aaron." Without any preamble, Mrs. Jiang chose to express her wishes directly. She didn't want to get bogged down talking about unimportant things.

"But, Grandma... Isn't this too much? Especially since Grandma only got to know me yesterday," Aaron Liu said hesitantly. He didn't want to be a parasite in Grandma Jiang's family.

From the start, Mrs. Jiang didn't understand Aaron Liu's thinking at all. His ego was either too high or showed an arrogance that forced him not to accept any kindness for him.

At first glance, it is evident that Aaron Liu was not an ordinary young man with nothing. But it was as if he was covering up his family identity.

"Are you from such a wealthy family that you don't want to work as my assistant?" This time Mrs. Jiang deliberately asked the question. She wanted to dig up something that the handsome young man next to her seemed to have hidden.

"Of course not, Grandma. My family is just a small farmer on Chyou Island. Grandma already overthinks of me," Aaron Liu deflected at a question that could reveal his identity as a member of the Liu Family.

Unwilling to take the trouble, Mrs. Jiang was forced to believe everything Aaron Liu said. She would find out who the young man who had helped her was.

"If I may know, what kind of business does Grandma do?" Aaron Liu was afraid he couldn't do anything for Mrs. Jiang. After all, he had been treated so well by her.

"Fashion." That was all Mrs. Jiang said. She should have explained in detail what kind of company she worked for. "Tomorrow morning, you'll know too. Now get some rest!" Mrs. Jiang opened the door for Aaron Liu as if she was sending him away subtly.

Aaron Liu gradually left the room. Before returning to his room, a servant came and approached him.

"Would you like to have dinner in your room or the dining room, Sir? Tonight Mrs Jiang is unable to accompany you to dinner. She told us to serve you well," the servant said politely and amicably.

"I'll have dinner in my room," the handsome man replied before entering his room. He could see that Mrs. Jiang was very busy with much work. Her desk looked very cluttered with files and designs.

Not long after entering her room, there was a knock on the door. A waiter came in and placed a complete dinner set on the table.

"Please enjoy your dinner, Sir," the servant said and walked towards the door to exit.

"Wait!" Aaron Liu deliberately stopped the servant before he passed through the door.

Instantly, the young woman in the maid's uniform stopped her steps. She turned around and looked at the figure of her hostess's special guest.

"Does Mrs. Jiang live alone in this house? I mean, isn't there any of her tall family here?" In a hurry and with great curiosity, Aaron Liu asked the servant. He couldn't wait to hear from Mrs. Jiang.

"No, Sir. A granddaughter is living here. And just miss is on a business trip overseas. It looks like she'll be back next week," the waitress explained to him.

As Aaron Liu asked the waiter to leave, he was grateful that all the servers were treating him well. He didn't expect to find someone so kind and cared about him when everyone abandoned him.

After finishing his dinner, Aaron Liu left the room to the kitchen. He didn't need to. Just press a button a server will come and be ready to help him.

"Why don't you call us, Sir?" A servant suddenly arrived and found Aaron Liu carrying dirty dishes. "Mrs Jiang would be furious if she saw you in the kitchen," the servant continued.
