Chapter 19 Hurt Self-Esteem

After dinner, Jiang Lily just happened to want to be with her grandmother. They enjoyed their time together in the living room. It felt so long since they had been together like that.

"Does Grandma not love me anymore?" A beautiful young woman asked her grandmother.

"How can you think that Lily?" replied Mrs. Jiang to her granddaughter.

The young woman waited to answer and glanced at a man who still needed to enter her room. Coincidentally, Aaron Liu was busy with some assignments Mrs. Jiang had given him some time ago.

It wasn't comforting for Jiang Lily. She even thought her grandmother cared more about other people than her.

"I feel like Grandma cares too much about that strange man. Isn't it too much?" protested Jiang Lily at her grandmother's decision to give a foreign man so much responsibility.

"Grandma will make Aaron your assistant. It would help if you treated him well, Lily. Starting tomorrow, the two of you will travel together. He will help you manage the company and protect you." Mrs. Jiang explained without caring about her granddaughter's shock.

"How can it be like that, Grandma? Why didn't you talk to me about it first?" Again, Jiang Lily could only utter a tone of protest. She couldn't believe her grandmother would entrust her to someone else.

With a heavy and suffocating sigh, Mrs. Jiang had to sigh. She still couldn't understand why her granddaughter hated Aaron Liu so much, even though they had only met a few hours ago.

Jiang Lily's hatred for Aaron was considered very excessive and unusual. Mrs. Jiang thought something nonsense about the relationship between the two of them. A naughty thought and, of course, elicited a tone of protest from her granddaughter.

"There's no point in talking to you, Lily. You'll reject him this time. Aaron is a very kind and responsible young man. I hope you can be nice to him." Mrs. Jiang coaxed the beautiful woman who hadn't been with her in a while.

"Can I refuse him?" Jiang Lily didn't need to ask a question whose answer she already knew. However, the woman still had a bit of hope.

"You could refuse anything before, Lily. Unfortunately, we can't refuse Aaron this time." Mrs. Jiang warned her granddaughter.

Jiang Lily smiled wryly at the threat. She had never imagined the person she had been with would trust someone else. Over and over again, she thought, the woman didn't find any particular reason for Aaron at all.

Everything was too suspicious and made Jiang Lily think nothing of a man living in her house. It was only natural that she couldn't trust strangers. Moreover, her grandmother had just met a few days ago.

"Has Aaron been instigating and poisoning minds, Grandma?" accused Jiang Lily at a man who had heard all their conversation.

"Don't talk nonsense, Lily! Aaron is not that kind of man." Mrs. Jiang snapped at her stubborn granddaughter.

"That's okay, Grandma. Miss Jiang can judge anything according to her judgment." Suddenly Aaron Liu walked up to the two women of different generations.

The handsome man threw a meaningful smile without taking his eyes off the two women. Aaron Liu didn't want to worsen the relationship between grandmother and granddaughter. He could do anything for the good of the Jiang Family.

That made Jiang Lily smile triumphantly as she glanced at the handsome man her grandmother trusted so much. Seeing Aaron Liu pretending to be good in front of her felt very uncomfortable.

"You can't do that, Aaron! Starting tomorrow morning, you two will be working together. I hope there won't be any disputes in the future." Mrs. Jiang said that with firmness and conviction.

"But, Grandma!" whined Jiang Lily to the old woman who had cared for and raised her.

"There's no refusal, Lily!" The older woman immediately got up from her seat and left. Mrs. Jiang deliberately allowed the two of them to talk to each other.

At once, Jiang Lily showed an annoyed face with a frown. She still hadn't accepted all of her grandmother's decisions. It felt unwilling if she had to work with a foreign man she didn't know at all.

Meanwhile, Aaron Liu was still standing not far from her. He didn't want to make things worse by being there. The man finally turned around and thought about returning to the room. However, suddenly.

"Stop, Stranger! Why are you so good at acting in front of my grandmother? What are you planning to do? If you want money, I'll give you whatever you want!" Jiang Lily looked down at the man. She thought that Aaron Liu just wanted to take advantage of her grandmother.

"You've misunderstood, Miss." Aaron Liu snapped at the unwarranted accusations and the harsh words thrown by a beautiful woman in the house.

It hurt Aaron Liu's pride. However, he couldn't make any defence at all. The man was well aware of his position in the Jiang Family home.
