Chapter 7 Memories of the Past

As The Enlightened returned to their headquarters, Jake's mind couldn't help but wander to his own past. He had always known that he was different, but it wasn't until his parents' death that he truly understood just how different he was.

Jake's parents had been killed in a car accident when he was just a child, and he had been sent to live with his grandparents. It was there that he had discovered his unique ability to copy the skills of others.

At first, Jake had thought that he was just imagining things. But as he grew older and began to experiment with his ability, he realized that he was truly different from everyone else.

As he sat in his room, lost in thought, he was suddenly brought back to reality by a knock on the door. It was Mia, who had come to check on him.

Hey, Jake. Is everything okay?" Mia asked, a concerned look on her face.

Jake forced a smile and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about some stuff."

Mia sat down next to him on the bed. "Anything you want to talk about?"

Jake hesitated for a moment before deciding to open up to Mia. "It's just that...I've been thinking about my parents a lot lately. I never really knew them, and I can't help but wonder what they would think of me now."

Mia placed a comforting hand on Jake's shoulder. "I'm sure they would be proud of you. You're doing something good with your abilities, Jake. You're making a difference in the world."

Jake nodded, grateful for Mia's words of encouragement. But deep down, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to his parents' death. He had a vague memory of a man in a suit, standing at the scene of the accident, watching him with a cold, calculating gaze.

As the night wore on, Jake's mind was filled with memories of his past, and he couldn't help but wonder if there was a connection between his parents' death and his unique ability. He knew that he had to find out the truth, no matter what it took.
