THE RESCUE BLUES (The Rescue Blues #1)

It always starts as a "girl meets boy, boy meets girl" story when unbelieving Ray Carter meets Lily "The Stiff" McQueen, but after a drunken night of partying and an unexpected result in the school's "The List" popularity poll, it becomes an unexpected spark, a shot in the dark, in the good old, small town of Fram Hill. One is a rebel who wants to run away from the troubles of the past and his family name, and the other is an outsider, who wants to fit in. He is enchanted by her. She likes his best friend instead. She hates his guts but he is crazy about her. He resists. She insists. A tragedy will bring them closer together as they deal with high school, friends, family, and dreams. Their attraction is a start. Doubts creeping in, the cause of alarm. The past haunts them, a call to action. Will they come to each other's rescue? *Weekly Update: Mondays / Tuesdays **Book cover created using Canva SOCIALS TikTok: @themerrytroll YouTube: @themerrytroll Twitter: @TheMerryTroll Discord: Bones#7882 (themerrytroll on Webnovel) ***For inquiries/collaboration, please email mssuncheese@gmail.com.

FUEL TO THE FIRE

Ray and Lily were sitting on the swings at the town park, a good distance away from the busy people and prying eyes at the fair.

Neither had any idea where they were going and what they were doing, but they found themselves watching kids building castles in the playground's sandbox. All they knew was that both of them received stares and whispers from people, especially from the teenage girls who knew that they were Fram Hill High's cutest couple.

All those side-eyes and hushed voices caused Lily to become her usual awkward self when being scrutinized and Ray to brush the unwanted attention aside, as he was used to it.

Those same teenage girls giggled when Ray glanced and winked at them.

For Ray, his infamy was nothing. He knew it was because he was a Carter who happened to commit a dreadful mistake years ago when he should be as dignified and respectable as the family's patriarch, Old Mason.
