It had been days since I last saw Lenna since Gabe’s incident. But there was never a day that I didn’t call, whether in the morning when I got to the office or, at times,, in the evening before going to sleep. Most days, I called both times.
The morning felt like a drag until Luke slapped an envelope on my chest. I staggered slightly and glared grimly at him. Then, I beat him to it when he hadn’t said anything.
“What is this?”
“Paperwork for Montana. And the lawyer called,” he stated briefly before returning to his desk.
“Thanks.”
After settling down on my desk, I pulled out the envelope's contents. Reading through the statement, I felt my stomach turn at the details. It was a copy of the police report for Stephen’s case. Since Lenna and Gabe were involved in the case, I asked a team of lawyers to represent them. As the financer behind the scenes, I took the responsibility of seeing it through.
