The three Mages slowly walked into the abandoned church. Foot after foot, they climbed the steps that led to the large broken doors at the entrance of the church.

The first thing that welcomed them was the horrible scent of corrupted smoke, it smelled more like strange chemicals, vapor and Essence refuse mixed with the petrifying odor of death.

The pews of the church were now all broken and burnt, jagged splinters with darkened tips were scattered on the ground. Summoner Zadoc shifted his gaze from them to the altar which was now in ruins, overtaken by sickly green flames that pulsed through the stone like veins.

Walls were scorched black like the rest of the damned town, and they sagged inward as if the building was on the verge of collapse.

Their steps echoed hollowly as they drew nearer. Merisset felt her heart beat inside her chest. That rarely ever happened and so she became extremely aware of how terrified she was.
