POV: Alpha of pack Mooncall, Robert Mooncall.
Claire is still looking at me. Her ocean blue eyes shining in the moonlight that peaks through the window. I must tell her. I must tell her now before I lose the courage.
"Your worrying me, what's wrong Robert?"
"My love, the moon goddess spoke with me. She said a great war is coming, that our pack will need to save the world, and then she said one other thing that I'm not sure how to tell you.."
"Are you sure you spoke with the goddess? I mean it's been over 200 years since she last spoke to one of our pack."
"Yes my love I'm sure, for I can smell the truth."
"Your not making any sense Robert, are you sure your okay?"
"Yes Claire, I promise I'm telling the truth. I need you to know that I will always love you and protect you, before I tell you the last part of what the goddess told me."
"Okay, let's say you did speak with her. Just tell me. You know we are in this together."
"Claire Mooncall, my mate. The moon goddess told me that I must protect both of my mates and that they will one day have the power to save the world."
"WHAT THE HELL!! YOUR MINE!"
"Yes Claire, I am yours. But you know the cost of our powers. If I deny my second mate all of us could die."
"WELL I THINK YOUR CRAZY! NO WAY THE MOON GODDESS GAVE YOU TWO MATES!"
"But, I can smell my unclaimed mate my love. And these tears are not from me or you, I can feel her sadness. I know the moon goddess spoke the truth. Please calm down my love, we have no choice but to go and welcome her into our home. This has never happened before.. maybe you will be her mate as well."
"BULLSHIT! leave me alone to think Robert I can't even look at you!"
" As you wish my Luna, please know I love you.."
As I walk out from our home, the smell gets stronger. I think to myself. "I'm sorry Claire, my mate needs me." I quickly shift into my wolf form. My once pure white coat, now has a blue sheen. But I'm running too fast to notice. I must find my mate. The scent of my mate is making my instincts go crazy, suddenly I notice I'm back at the battlefield. I look a bit further and see her. She's crying, holding Jack. I've discovered that my second mate is none other than the widowed Patricia, who was Jacks mate...
POV: Patrica of pack Mooncall, the Alphas second mate.
I'm crying so much. My eyes burn from the sadness. My chest hurts. I feel a hallowing pain. It's like my soul was ripped from my body and I'm an empty shell.
"Patricia, it's Robert. I'm so sorry I couldn't protect Jack. He left us too soon."
I didn't even hear him approach. I was too lost in the sadness. But when he speaks I suddenly can feel his guilt.. why. That's weird. I shrug it of, but when I try to look at Robert it's suddenly like many moons ago. He smells like my unclaimed mate... what is happening. My eyes must have expressed my confusion or maybe he felt it.
"Patricia I'm confused myself. When I fell asleep after overworking my powers. The moon goddess spoke to me and said a great war is coming and that I must protect both of my mates. She said one day they will have the power to save us all..."
"Robert this is crazy! I want to call you a liar, but I can feel the truth in your words. What will Claire say."
Rob scratched his head and said hesitantly,
"Well I told her and she thinks I'm crazy. I can only hope that you are her mate as well. I know you are very upset right now, but for me and your Luna can you try to focus on the scents in the air. Can you smell another unclaimed mate in the West? That's where Claire is right now."
I take a few deep breaths, my eyes close. I can feel her. I can feel her sadness and anger. I must go to her!
"You are right Rob, The Luna is my mate as well and I can feel her sadness and anger. She must have realized that you left to find me. Let me go to her first, that way she can realize the truth in your words. It will be okay. She will feel our bond."
"I will trust in your decisions, but I will not be far behind. I need to be sure you are both safe. I need to be sure that Claire won't harm you."
"I understand Rob, just don't get too close. She needs to focus on my scent to see through her anger."
I rush to our mate Claire and sprint through the tall grass. I can only hope the moon goddess accounted for Claire's anger. I look to the moon and say,
"Goddess please protect us from eachother."
