Chapter Twenty Three: The Resistance

Cassie had informed Gabriel that she had a pretty good suspicion as to where the Vampires where gathering and that she would be able to lead him there. It would be a few days before they could get there and so they ran. As they ran, Cassie noticed Gabriel's wolf form. It was so strong, so powerful, he was everything she had heard about him. He was far beyond impressive, a Lycan perfection to Cassie. She tried to snap out of her glances away from him but she found it increasingly more difficult as they ran. She wanted to talk to him but she didn't know what to say to him. He had so much on his mind, and he was just trying to focus. She didn't want to bother him. But keeping quiet was becoming increasingly harder to do.

" Gabriel...I just want you to know. I never had any intention of getting with you. I had a lot of other things on my mind, way before I found out I was going to be offered to you " Cassie answered. " But I also knew I didn't have much of a chance. You were built a lot more for Victoria. You two were a lot closer" Cassie remembered Victoria staying glued by Gabriel's side before he first went to this world. She would have never had a chance with him at the time. And even then, it wouldn't make much of a difference. She was hardly ever around to begin with. But so much has changed since when they were kids. They were both grown now and she had to admit, she found him attractive. Even if Gabriel didn't seem to be interested in her.

" And I know that you are still feeling things for Kara even if you are mad. But, you deserve to be happy " Cassie says as Gabriel begins to slow his run. " What's wrong? Was it something I said?" Cassie inquired as she trotted up next to him.

" You know. A lot of people have said that exact same thing to me. And every single time they say that, something bad happens. So I don't know what you have got going on in your head, about you and me, but it is not going to happen. You would be better off that way" Gabriel said as he sat down, resting his body. Cassie tilted her head to the side and walked down beside him, keeping her head lower than his, out of respect. " I know that. But I'm not sitting here saying I'm in love with you. Because I'm not. I'm also not saying I want to be with you, because I don't. I just want you to know that there are some people in your life that aren't out to hurt you or confuse you. Some of us just care about you because we just care" Cassie explained as Gabriel looked down at her. " Are you saying you are one of those people...? " Gabriel asked, looking down at Cassie who now layed down in her wolf form, in front of him, keeping her eyes focused behind him to keep a lookout for anything trying to sneak up on them. Gabriel then looked forward to watch their front. " I am just saying this. I am one of the last of our kind along with you. And us getting along isn't a horrible thing. We have to watch each other's backs. And me watching your back, includes me warning you about threats like Kara. Someone who would mess with your emotions and leave you hurt" Cassie says, her tail flicking around every so often playfully. " I don't need your protection" Gabriel kept his head forward, debating what Cassie's true motives are. He knows she wants to breed so she could be saying all of this simply for that reason. But she made good points. They were some of the last Lycan's alive. And he knew resisting her was becoming harder and harder to do. Her scent was driving him crazy. He needed to find a way out of this. " Hmph " Gabriel scoffs as he lowers his head, rubbing his nose in the dirt, trying to deflect her scent.

" Is..it really that bad? " Cassie asked, concerned at the sight of what he was doing. She knew he was trying to block her scent and she felt slightly bad about it. " Its fine..don't worry about it" Gabriel tried to to focus on blocking the scent even though it was becoming increasingly more difficult.

" I wish I could do something about it but its..well..you know " Cassie apologized even though she knew she couldn't control it. They were both in a pedicament and there was nothing they could do about it. " I...we need to keep moving " Gabriel growled, noticing Cassie standing up. She also looked very attractive to him, he had been trying to not notice it but she was beautiful to him. " Let's go" Gabriel takes off running as Cassie follows behind.

Cassie could tell he was having a hard time resisting her and on some level. She did like the idea of him wanting her that badly. But she also knew he would resist her with everything he had. But she did hope he gave in. She wanted him very badly but would respect his wishes and would not make a move other than the things that she could not control.
