In the evening, after dinner, I went up to my room earlier with the excuse that I was tired and that I wanted to prepare a little more for the Wednesday interview and I excused myself from the table and went to my room not without first asking that one of the servants told my maids to come to my room.
I then changed into a black silk nightgown and a hobbie and sat by the window to wait for them so I could put my plan in action, and while I waited I picked up one of my favorite collections of Edgar Allan Poe short stories and read some of them.
I was focused on a paragraph when there was a knock on the door and I gave the person permission to enter, then I saw Eylisha and Adela come in and greet me, I then motioned for them to close the door behind them and got up leaving the book and my glasses in the bench and asked them to sit down in my bed.
“You asked for us miss, what happened?" Adela asked as she straightened a lock of blond hair that had escaped the braid I'd done on it earlier and I sighed and decided to start explaining soon.
“How do you two know Nick has traveled and I need another trusted person to help me escape this craziness, don't you?” I say and they both nod and I then start pacing around trying to organize my thoughts so they understand where I want to go before I get back to talking “But we don't know where we can look for someone, and the only person we had in mind didn't have their identity revealed to us and Nick didn't get in touch again, but with recent events I need to take a walk and get some fresh air, you know?” I say and they continue to nod understanding what I'm getting at and I smile a little more confidently.
“So what can we help you with, miss?" Eylisha asks and I turn to both of them and fold my hands behind my back looking at her.
“I need you guys to back me up and in the worst case, if anything goes bad, look for General Scott,” I said and they nodded and I sighed in relief, now I needed to explain my plan to them and tell them a newfound secret about the castle “Now comes the technical part and I need your help Adela!” I say pointing to her who smiles and settles in bed to hear better.
"I'm available, miss!" She says excitedly and I smile as I walk towards my closet and motion for the two of them to follow me, both with confused looks on their faces.
As soon as we enter I close the door that connects this room to my room and walk towards the rack of party dresses and pull the dresses to the side leaving the pink painted wall behind them very visible, the two approach and they wait for me to say something and I point to a crack in the wall and they frown in confusion.
“You guys must be pretty confused but I'll explain,” I say and walk over to the wall feeling the cool white marble floor in contact with my bare feet and stop in front of the wall and press hard on a spot near the crack and a small click is heard and soon the wall opens inwards revealing a dark corridor of stones, I turn to the two who are gaping and hold back a giggle before going back to saying “well that's what it looks like, a secret passage and it it doesn't just exist here, it leads to various places and rooms in this palace and in recent summers I've been exploring these corridors and mapping each path despite getting lost in the process and tonight I'm bringing you both up to date, almost no one knows about their existence because only my grandparents and my great-grandparents used it, I found out because grandma told me and I'm entrusting this secret to you both!” I said seriously and they nodded.
“We've never seen anything like that in this closet, miss,” Eylisha said and I smiled at her as I twisted my hair into a bun and pointed to the opening in the wall.
“Tonight Adela goes with me to the guard's dorm so I can look in Nick's room and see if I can find anything about his friend so then I can go to my dad's office and check the records, and Eylisha I need you to stay in here locked up and make noise to let them know I'm here,” I said and she nodded as she signaled that she understood, and I turn to Adela to continue explaining “Excellent! And when I'm done in the dorm, Adela is going to go back up the path closest to the kitchen and get me a late night snack and bring me here and you two can't leave until I get back, okay?” I said and they nodded and I signaled that everything was fine until I remembered one last detail "Adela, so nothing gets weird you two will go down to the kitchens and wait for me to give the signal and then you will magically disappear from the cameras." I said and they nodded in understanding.
“We got it your highness, where should we wait for you?" Adela asked and I thought of the best spot so the cameras wouldn't catch the two of them disappearing so suddenly and I smiled as I remembered the perfect spot.
"Go to the kitchens and wait for me by the pantry, the cameras won't catch you if you're in there, and when I give the signal Adela will come with me and Eylisha will go back to my room, go in and close the door, right?" I said and they nodded and then I smiled and asked for a minute to put on a sneaker before we started the plan.
And I hope this plan works because if it didn’t, I don’t know what to do next, so now it’s better get going.
So I wave goodbye to the girls and smirked while I walked to the closet ready to start my plan.
