Snake In The Church Premises

She woke up feeling strong and energized. She smiled and greeted everybody she came across until her jaw began to hurt.

She walked inside the church premises. She saw Mary, their cleaner. They discussed casually, Mary looked past her shoulder.

"Good day, Pappa," Mary greeted, her gaze fixed on the person behind Isla.

Isla turned around, she saw her father approaching. Mary took his hand and kissed it when he neared.

"How are you, Mary?" He asked with a smile.

"I am fine, Pappa," she replied, bowing. He nodded and she left.

"Papa," Isla called and kissed his hand.

"My child, how are you?" He asked.

"I am okay papa.. papa I didn't expect to see you outside by this time," she creased her face.

"I decided to take a walk and stretch these old bones of mine," he explained jokingly.

Isla saw a couple of men coming over and she was sure that they would stop by to say their greetings and discuss with her father. She excused herself quietly before they got close.

"Then I'll excuse you, Papa" she bowed, she walked away when he nodded. She heard their voices as they greeted one another.

"Watch out," she was about to take the last step on the staircase when she heard a deep voice. The next thing she knew, she was being held by the arm and rolled to her left.

Something hissed behind her. She turned around only to see a hand strangling a snake, squeezing the life out of the snake.

The snake was venomous but that was not the reason why she frowned in deep thoughts instead of saying thank you. They had never been a snake before in the church premises.

The man stood straight and glanced down at her, he eyed her as If searching for something.

"Isla," a voice called, she turned and witnessed her father rushing down the stairs with a serious face.

"Papa" she called worriedly, her father stopped in front of her. He scanned her again with a few people watching.

Her father finished inspecting her, he looked at the man who apparently saved his daughter.

"Thank you for saving my daughter," her father sounded grateful.

"Oh no Pappa do not mention. It is but an obligation to save a life no matter whom it may be." The stranger spoke, bowing his head slightly.

"Hmm see me in my office," her father said. Everyone was surprised. He hardly invited just anyone to his office, but then the man just saved his daughter.

The stranger replied before her father called her to walk with him, she didn't quite get everything nor did she observe the stranger. She was astonished about how a snake came to be in the church premises.

She got into the house, she was no longer feeling like the way she felt this morning. She was now wondering what her father and the strange man were discussing.

Isla woke up the next morning, she stretched on the bed. She walked to the bathroom to prepare for the day.

Isla walked into the kitchen to make breakfast but breakfast had already been prepared.

"Lady Fiona, I thought you would be going back today," she said with furrowed eyebrows.

Isla heard a sound and almost jumped in fright, her head turned to different directions while her eyes did the search. Her eyes soon landed on a man, he had his back facing her but his hair looked familiar.

He stood up and turned her way. Isla's jaw almost touched the ground.
