Day 10

Three days passed without me having a chance to talk to Keitaro. He always avoided me, and I had given up hope of ever reconciling with him. Even our friends noticed how distant we became, and they planned something to make us talk. The storm I had caused also disrupted some activities around camp, so we had nothing to do for a few days. One morning, Hannah and I talked before realizing it was time for lunch.

C: I'm hungry. Do you want to come and get some food?

H: Not right now. Maybe later.

C: OK then.

I hoped she would come with me. I didn't want to eat. I don't even need food! I just hoped if she came with me, the band would... Nevermind. It was hopeless anyway. After lunch, I went back to the cabin. Hannah was waiting for me.

H: Hey, Conri, the Scoutmasters were looking for you.

C: For me? Why?

H: They didn't tell.

C: Oh, I see.

H: Just go to the shed, they are waiting for you there.

C: The shed? Whatever. Let's see what they want.

I was confused as to why they would want to see me, and in the shed of all places. But I went anyway, thinking they might need some help. When I got there, the door was closed.

C: Strange. Scoutmaster, I heard from Hannah you were looking for me.

Nothing. No answer.

C: Is anyone he...

Before I could finish my sentence, Rayn and Alex showed up from nowhere. They grabbed my arm, and they put me in the shed. They locked the door. I was surprised. Why would they do this?

K: Wha-what are you doing here?

C: Hannah told me the Scoutmasters wanted to see me at the shed. But only Alex and Rayn showed up, and they shoved me in here.

I tried to open the door, but they closed it behind us. I started bagging the door.

C: Rayn Alex, this isn't funny. Let us out!

H: You're not going anywhere until you guys talk to each other.

C: Hannah?

H: We will camp back here in an hour. So you better start talking or you will spend the whole day in there.

I heard their footsteps slowly fade away.

C: That Bitch...

Silence filled the room. I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to break the door open with magic. I don't want to scare him even more. For a while, we just looked at each other in the dark. The only light source we had, was a faint light from the shed window.

C: Are you alright?

K: Yes. I just hate the dark.

C:...

K:...

C: Wadal lajam...

A ball of light appeared in my hand, filling the room with more light. I went to the other corner of the room and sat down, waiting.

K:...

C:...

K: What are you?

C: Huh?

K: If we are going to spend the rest of the day here, I want to know more about you. What are you?

Maybe this is my chance to explain everything to him. The truth of what I am. He already saw what I could do. There is no point hiding it.

C: I'm a Lunari.

K: A what?

C: A Lunari. This is a long story...

K: We got time.

C: My people, the Lunari, were magical beings living on the moon. There were thousands of us. We were the protectors of the earth. We had lots of enemies. Gods, Demons, and Monsters. They tried to destroy us. My people knew they would lose, so they made a plan. They made me. The Queen and the High Priestess used a demon's prince blood and combined their power in the hope of making the most powerful Lunari. The last hope of our people. That was 1027 years ago.

K: So that makes you?

C.1027 years old? Yes.

K: That thing in the forest. Who or what was it?

C: A demon. Trying to corrupt and destroy the forest.

K: How do I know you are telling me the truth?

C: You don't. But think for a second. If I was lying, why would I keep you alive? It would be easier to kill you and proceed with my evil plans, right?

K:...

C: You do read the news, right?

K: Yes. Why?

C: Local police find the 17 missing girls. They don't remember what happened in the past days.

K:...!

C: Bank robbery failed thanks to a mysterious person who saved 27 civil lives.

K: Wait, was that all?...

C: Meteorologists can't explain the mysterious volcano that didn't erupt, saving thousands.

C: Yes, it was all me.

K: Then, what are doing here?

C: In the past 1027 years, the only thing I did was fight. I just wanted to relax for at least this summer and not do anything. But that demon showed up.

K: I understand. And I'm sorry for running away. It was just...

C: Too much to handle? Frear of the unknown? I understand.

K: Yeah.

C: So, are we good now?

K: No more secrets. I can even accept this magic stuff but don't do it too often in front of me.

C: Only when I have to.

K: Good. Glad we talked about this. Now we wait until the others open the door.

C: Do you want me to open it?

K: Wait, you can open it? Why didn't you do it before?

C: I didn't want you to freak out even more.

K: Then please open it. I'm tired of this place.

After a simple hand gesture, and with the snap of my fingers the door opened.

C: Come on, Let's get out of here.

We left the cabin. On our way back to the great hall, Keitaro asked a ton of questions, and I had all the answers.

K: How strong are you?

C: Umh. I can't answer that. Just blowing stuff up is easy. Healing magic or summoning takes more magic. But to summarize, I could probably make a tsunami right here before us.

K: Do you really like coding?

C: Yes. I've learned it on my own in my free time. I'm not good at it, but I'm trying.

As I said, he had a lot of questions. When we arrived, our friends were surprised at how we got out. But they were happy that we were talking again. After dinner, we head back to our cabin.

H: Glad my plan worked after all.

C: So it was your idea to lock us up?

H: Yeah, sorry. It was the best plan I got.

C: Thank you. But don't do that ever again.

H: OK, ok. How did you get out anyway?

C: Magic.

H: Fine, keep your secrets. I'm just glad you guys are talking to each other again.

C: Me too.

H: Anyway, it's been a long day. Time to get some sleep. Goodnight.

C: Goodnight.

I'm glad I have great friends like them. And hey, everything turned out great in the end. I'm just happy Keitaro accepted who I am. Maybe there is a chance between us. Even if it's a small one.
