Stay low!

....

They were going home after a short family trip and Little Fan Wushuang were strapped to the backseat. She had fallen asleep and only woke up when she heard loud banging sounds.

"ARGGH!!! Daddy?!" Little Fan Wushuang yelled when she was woken up so suddenly. The shot earlier hit the back of the car and it woke her up.

She rubbed her eyes as she glanced around nervously. Everywhere she looked was trees on one side and barren slope on the other, but when she pushed herself up and turned to look through the back window, her father snapped, "WUSHUANG! STAY LOW!"

Little Fan Wushuang froze. Her father had never raised his voice at her before, so she was terrified by his voice and did as she was told.

As if he knew that he did something wrong, her father, Fan Lei, said in a much lower tone, "Wushuang, be good! Sit down now and stay low!"

BANG!

The car swiveled slightly but Fan Lei managed to get it under control. Sweats were forming on his forehead. He took two guns that he kept hidden under the seat and rolled down the window.

The man then handed one of the guns to his wife before he said, "Qingting! Take the wheel!"

When his wife reached over to take control of the wheel, Fan Lei leaned out of the window and quickly shot a series of shots at the car behind them.

The car that was directly behind them swerved to the side and crashed into a tree. However, there was still another car directly behind them and it was catching up quickly.

BANG!

Fan Lei did not manage to pull himself back before he got hit in the arm.

"F*ck!" Fan Lei cursed as he cradled his right arm.

"Daddy!" Little Fan Wushuang gasped with her eyes wide open. She was starting to be afraid now.

"Nothing, honey. I'm fine!" Fan Lei gritted. He took back the control of the car and pressed on the pedal.

"Mummy? What's happening?"

Her mother was more transparent. Little Fan Wushuang could see through the side mirror and she saw her mother's panicked expression. Her mother was sitting tensely as she stared at her husband.

Little Fan Wushuang heard the sound of cars coming from behind and she looked through the back mirror. There was a car coming close behind them.

"F*ck! Why didn't I bring guards?!" Fan Lei scolded himself loudly.

"Lei, we don't have time for that!" Chen Qingting said as she looked at her husband. This was not supposed to happen.

They just wanted a short getaway for a few days, without anyone else. That was why Fan Lei had dismissed the guards and kept their locations a secret.

They did not even use a credit card, and mostly survived on cash to avoid being tracked by people who might do them harm. However, bad things still happened!

The place they were staying at was pretty remote, and there were a few stretches of long roads that connected the holiday villa to the main road.

Fan Lei had wanted to drive leisurely and thus took the quieter, less-traveled road. He also wanted to show their daughter the beautiful scenery here.

Fan Lei glanced at the car that was slowly closing in. "Wushuang, listen to me!"

"Yes, Daddy?"

"No matter what, you must stay alive, alright?"

"What?" Little Fan Wushuang wiped her tears away. She had never been in this kind of situation before. Heck! She had never even been injured much before!

Chen Qingting knew that her husband had the same feeling as her, that there was little chance for them to get out of this. All she could do was to look away and pray that nothing would happen to her daughter.

"Wushuang, you're always my little princess, alright?" Fan Lei said. He smiled as he looked up at the rearview mirror.

The little girl nodded.

"If we survive, Daddy will take you to Disneyland. The one in the States. You want to go again, right?"

"Yeah!"

"Hold tight then!"

Chen Qingting and Fan Lei took turns to fire shots into the air and at their pursuer. They hoped that someone could hear the shots and come to rescue them.

It was not that late, and they were almost near the main road. At the very least, they hoped that someone could come to save their daughter.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

CRASH!

The back window broke.

"ARGH!" Little Fan Wushuang cried out when shards from the window fell on her.

"Wushuang! Are you alright?!" Chen Qingting yelled.

The little girl nodded. "Yeah! But I'm scared!"

BANG!

The last shot hit one of the tires. The car swerved sharply. It hit the small slope, flew up, and flipped a few rounds before it landed upside down and the momentum of the impact continued to move the car to the other side of the narrow road.

After spinning a few rounds, the car then finally stopped after hitting a tree.

"Urgh…"

Everyone in the car groaned. They were still conscious.

Fan Lei and Chen Qingting were badly injured. Chen Qingting and Fan Lei's legs were trapped by the dashboard that had collapsed from the impact when the car flipped over and landed on the road. Blood was flowing out from their injuries profusely.

"Wushuang… Qingting… " Fan Lei called out softly. His breath was shallow, and the pain from his chest told him that he had broken a few ribs.

His neck was stiff and he could not move it, but he could hear his wife's weak voice calling out, "W-Wushuang…"

Their first thought was their dearest daughter. The apple of their eyes, the one they loved above everything else. They would not be able to live on if anything happened to their daughter.

Little Fan Wushuang was injured from the impact, but her injuries were minor compared to what her parents suffered.

She cried while she rubbed her chest which ached from being pulled back by the seatbelt. She had a couple of cuts on her face and arms, but otherwise unharmed.

"Wushuang?!"

Fan Lei coughed and blood came out from him.

An ominous feeling overcame them when they saw two pairs of legs walking toward them from the other car that had stopped near them.

"Wushuang! Pretend that you're unconscious!" Fan Lei gathered his strength and quickly told his daughter.

Little Fan Wushuang looked at the broken rearview mirror. She saw her handsome father and beautiful mother whose faces were covered with blood, and it scared her.

However, she still did what she was told.

Even though she was in pain, she closed her eyes and pretended to be unconscious. However, she did not close her eyes fully. Instead, she kept them at half-opened state so that she could see what was going on.

Two pairs of legs that walked toward them stopped right outside the door at Fan Lei's side.

One of them bent down, showing a man's face with three moles that formed a small triangle at the left side of his temple. He smiled at her father and waved.

"W-Who sent you?" Fan Lei glared at the man as he stuttered. It was hard to talk with blood flowing down into his mouth.

The man smiled but did not say anything. He merely wagged his finger at Fan Lei.

Little Fan Wushuang noticed that one of the man's fingers were crooked. She tried to remember every detail of the man's face. She watched on TV before. Every detail was important.

The man who was standing behind the man with moles asked, "Are they dead?"

"Well, almost."

"The gunshots earlier might bring people over."

"L-Leave my family alone, you b*stard!" Fan Lei said. He wanted to shout at them but the burning pain in his chest stopped him from doing so.
