CHAPTER 34 PAINFULL GOODBYE

TWENTY-TWO YEARS AGO IN THE MAGICAL REALM.

"Did she agree?" Lady Ruby asks lord lungu as she sits opposite him. Her eyes are filled with concern.

"Who?" Lord lungu asks.

"Did Princess Rose agree to be your second mate?" Lady Ruby asks him in a low voice. She asks him the burning question that has been on her mind since yesterday when he did not come back to their quarters.

Lord Lungu pauses for a moment, his expression unreadable. He is about to respond when a knock at the door interrupts them. Lady Ruby quickly gets up to answer it, revealing General Chanda standing on the other side.

"Hey, Lady Ruby, is Lord Lungu inside?" General Chanda asked, his voice urgent.

"Yes, you can come in," Lady Ruby replies, stepping aside to let him enter.

General Chanda wastes no time in getting straight to the point. "Davon, did you know?" he asks, his eyes searching his friend's face for a reaction.

Lord Lungu furrows his brow in confusion. "Know what Peter?" he asks, unsure of what his friend is referring to.

"Princess Rose is leaving for the Oval Kingdom," General Chanda announces, his tone grave.

Lord Lungu's heart skips a beat as he processes the news. Princess Rose, his true mate, is leaving without a word to him. He had thought that she had agreed to be his second mate after they had shared a passionate night. How could she leave him like this?

The room falls silent as Lord Lungu tries to make sense of the situation. Lady Ruby and General Chanda exchange worried glances, unsure of how lord lungu will react to this unexpected turn of events.

"What time is she leaving?" Lord lungu asks after some time.

"She will be leaving in an hour. She is just waiting for King Magnus to finish his council meeting." General Chanda says.

As the reality of Princess Rose's departure Sinks in, Lord Lungu's heart aches with a mixture of sadness and betrayal. He had thought that they had a future together, but now it seemed like that dream was slipping away. She looked happy when they made love yesterday so why is she leaving today? A lot of questions keep on popping into his head.

Lord lungu gets up from his seat, his mind made up, he is going to find Princess Rose and confront her about her decision.

"Davon, where are you going?" General lungu asks.

"I am going to see Princess Rose, I want to ask her why she is leaving without telling me." Lord lungu says as he leaves his quarters and goes to Princess Rose's quarters.

Princess Rose Is sitting by the mirror in her chambers, her gaze fixed on the love marks that adorn her body. The marks are a reminder of the passionate night she had shared with her mate, a night filled with intense love and desire.

As she traces her fingers over the marks, a soft sigh escapes her lips. The memory of their lovemaking yesterday still lingers in her mind, the sensation of his touch sending shivers down her spine. It had been a night of pure ecstasy, a night where their bodies had become one in a dance of passion and desire.

The tone of the room is still charged with the lingering energy of their lovemaking, the air thick with the scent of their passion. Princess Rose knows that her love for lord lungu is strong but not as strong as her self-respect.

Closing her eyes, Princess Rose begins to chant softly, the words flowing from her lips like a gentle melody. As she does this, a warm glow envelopes her body, the love marks slowly fading away until her skin is once again spotless and unblemished. The spell she cast allowed her to erase the physical evidence of their lovemaking.

As Princess Rose opens her eyes, a smile plays on her lips. The marks are gone, but the memory of their lovemaking remains etched in her mind. It is a memory she would cherish forever, a memory of a night filled with passion and desire.

Princess Rose smells the scent of her mate before he even reaches her quarters. She gets up from her chair and heads to the door, she opens it before he knocks.

"Cone in," she says as she gracefully walks inside.

"Is it true?" Lord lungu asks her the moment he gets inside.

"Yes," she responds knowing exactly what he is asking.

"Were you going to tell me?" Lord lungu asks.

"No," Princess Rose answers as she sits down and continues looking at herself in the mirror.

"Are you serious right now Rose? You are going back to the Oval Kingdom and you didn't think I deserved to know. I am your mate for spirit's sake, your other half I should have been the first one to know." Lord lungu says his anger is evident.

Princess Rose gets up from the bed and goes where lord lungu is standing and starts hitting his chest in anger.

"What do you want me to do Davon? You are saying that you are my mate, my other half but you have caused me more pain than anyone has ever done, you have brought shame to me, Davon. So don't you dare claim to have any rights over me, because you lost those rights when you chose Lady Ruby over me." Princess Rose says with tears in her eyes.

"You know that's not true, I did not choose over you. How can you even think like that?" You are my true mate and no one can ever take your place in my heart." Lord lungu says as he tries to hug Princess Rose but she takes a few steps back.

"You had a chance to show me how much you care for me but all you did was show me how little you think of me." Princess Rose says.

"Rose, I didn't mean to insult you when I asked you to be my second mate," Lord says in a low voice.

"But you did not ask me, Davon."

"You asked me what I wanted to do about our relationship and I told you that I wanted both you and Lady Ruby."

"And you think that's asking Davon? You simply said what you wanted without even thinking about my feelings.

Lord lungu looks at Princess Rose, his heart heavy with conflict. He has finally found his true mate, but he can't bear the thought of abandoning Lady Ruby, the mother of his children. The weight of his responsibilities weighs heavily on his shoulders as he tries to find a solution to the complicated situation.

"What do you want me to do, Rose?" Lord Lungu asks, his voice filled with desperation. "Do you want me to abandon Lady Ruby, the mother of my children? I know Lady Ruby is not my true mate, but she has always supported me. I can't just leave because I found my true mate. Rose, you are my true mate, but you have to understand that I have a family with Lady Ruby."

Princess Rose looks at lord Lungu, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and frustration. "Then go back to your family Davon," she says, her voice tinged with resignation.

Lord lungu shakes his head, his heart torn between his duty and his love for Princess Rose. "Stop being stubborn Rose. You are my true mate, Rose, we belong together," he pleads.

Princess Rose's eyes flash with hurt as she speaks. "You should have thought about that before making me look like your second choice."

Lord lungu reaches out to her, his hand trembling slightly. "That was not my intention, Rose," he says softly.

Princess Rose took a step back, her resolve hardening. "Well, it doesn't matter now, does it? You have already made your choice. All I wanted was for you to tell me that you wanted me. If you had said that, I would have agreed to be in a triad. I would not have asked you to leave Lady Ruby or your children."

Lord lungu feels a pang of regret as he realizes the depth of Princess Rose's pain. "We can still become a family, let's end all this and start over," he suggests, his voice filled with hope.

But Princess Rose shakes her head, her decision final. "No, Davon, there is no starting over. I am going back to my kingdom," she says firmly.

A knock comes at the door and Princess Rose goes to answer it, she finds her maid and friend at the food who gives her a sad smile. "King Magnus will see you now, Your Highness," Lisa says.

"Okay, Lisa I will be there in a minute." Princess Rose says as she goes to where lord lungu is standing.

"King Magnus has finished his meeting, I will go and say goodbye to him, and then I will leave." Princess Rose says as she kisses lord lungu on the mouth. Lord lungu kisses her back. They kiss for some time and then she pulls away. "Goodbye, Davon." She says as she kisses his cheek and leaves the room.

Lord lungu feels his heart shatter as he watches Princess Rose turn away from him. "Rose, please don't leave." He pleads.

But Princess Rose is resolute as she walks away, her steps echoing the finality of her decision. Lord lungu remains standing in the room, his heart heavy with regret as he realizes that he has lost the love of his true mate. He knows that he will always carry the weight of his choices, the consequences of his actions forever etched in his heart.
