The Slime's Lair

Silence.

Contrary to Vi's expectation, the slimes in the area didn't react at all after he sent one of them flying toward the lake. They even ignored his roar as if they didn't hear anything in the first place.

Vi waited silently for a few more moments only to receive the same response. Until then...

Just as Vi was getting a frown on his complexion, he suddenly received a small window notification. He looked at it and found out that someone was attacking him. There was just zero damage though.

Bewildered, Vi put his attention around him as only then did he notice that something soft and cold was banging on his legs. Thus, he turned to look behind him only to see a small slime trying to attack him with its little body. It jumped then and again toward Vi, only to be bounced back on its every try.

Vi smiled lightly at the pathetic retaliation of that little slime. How pitiful. This slime was trying its hardest to attack him, yet it only brought him zero damage. He couldn't help but shake his head slowly.

However, now that he thought about it, it seemed like these slimes weren't able to damage him. Nevertheless, since he had high base stats to begin with, it was only natural for these slimes to be unable to break his defense. If he remembered correctly, the slimes around its level wouldn't have a stat above 20. Since that was the case, even if its Strength stat actually reached 20, it would only have a maximum attack damage of 200. With his Endurance stat, he could have a defense totaling over 200. So, how could this slime possibly damage him? Unless this slime had an advanced attribute called Pierce, and it successfully triggered it, then it would be impossible for this slime to give him even the slightest damage.

With that in mind, Vi was about to turn to face the little slime only to find out that the nearby slimes were going at him. Since his attention earlier was focused on the slimes near the lake, he didn't notice that he attracted the aggro of the nearby slimes. With that, Vi had a sudden realization.

Vi learned that even if he attacked the slimes at a faraway distance, he wouldn't attract their aggro if he was outside their range. And since he was within the range of the slimes nearby, he naturally attracted their aggro after he beat up one of their kind.

Thus, these slimes went after him in revenge for their fallen companion.

And this was a good thing for Vi as well. He was getting annoyed seeing that the many slimes near the lake were just ignoring him. But now that some of these slimes were going at him, he couldn't help but smile slightly as he wanted to test out his new passive skill.

"You ants are finally going to make a move, huh? Come, bring it on! I will have you all strike me freely first for a few minutes." Vi spoke with a grin. Since these little things couldn't damage him, his confidence had leveled up as he let them attack him with widely opened arms.

Several slimes hopped across the grassland as they went in his direction. Including the slimes who attacked him first, there were now seven of them going at him.

Until finally, the moment the slimes had their target within their attack range, they immediately leaped toward Vi to deliver their furious attack.
