Chapter 2 - Heart of stone

The first job of a love angel was to find the preference of his target, so many years later, he noticed a small clue. His target… hated women!!!

Since a young age, Hui Long has always been reserved. He had never had any contact with many people. He was homeschooled in America and later returned home to China. School life was kind of hard for the boy. He was used to speaking English, so he did not have many Chinese friends.

Soon, his reserved character bloomed into that of a full introvert.

He owned a gaming company for God's sake, but the man rarely left the house. The only opportunity he would leave the house was when he had meetings with his clients or when he was releasing a new game and had to give a press release for it.

Other than that, he was a shut-in!

A sitting duck!

How can a person like that meet people and develop feelings?

This was why his job was so hard.

Tian Shi had to find a person who could break his introverted shell and make this man's cold heart melt. It was easy to say, but no woman was willing to take that much time and effort on this wasted guy. Even if a few of these women tried to approach him for his money, he would brush them away and walk away coolly like a statue.

"Hateful!" Tian Shi bit into the bland sandwich in his clutch.

Currently, Hui Long was having lunch in a high-end restaurant. The very tempting smell of steak was wafting over to him. Biting his lips, Tian Shi gritted his teeth. 'Here I am eating a bland sandwich, but there he is eating steak… Why am I being tortured like this?'

He had been thrown into this mortal world to find a partner for Hui Long, but since it has been so long and he hadn't succeeded, he was demoted. His funds were reduced to nothing. A little love angel that had fallen to Earth was made to wash dishes to make a living.

Worse, He lived in a house that is the size of a shoebox and ate stale bread.

'Life is so unfair… this guy! When will he find his lover? At least in heaven, I don't have to worry about a growling stomach!' he touched his stomach that was still yet to be full.

"Hey," a soft voice whispered into his ears.

Tian jumped to the side with his arms clenched in a karate pose. "Fai! Oh my god, you almost gave me a heart attack."

"We're angels; we don't have heart attacks, you dummy," he sat down casually on the roof. "Once again stalking your beloved target."

"Beloved my ass, this pain in the ass is eating steak while I eat this… I've run out of funds, Fai! I'm a broke angel. A freaking broke angel… and…" he pulled out a few white feathers from his pockets. "It's happening. I'm going bald. My feathers are falling off…" he let out a soft sob.

"There, there," Fai smirkingly patted his head. "You will ascend before that, don't worry."

"No. Look at him." He pointed to Hui Long with a glare. "He is a stone. A freaking stone, I tell you!"

Fai raised a brow. "Have you tried my method?"

"I've arranged something for today. See there," he pointed to the waiter. He was young, about five feet tall, with a kind smile on his face. "That's Hui's schoolmate. A good guy who is charitable and kind. If your theory is correct, he would really like this guy."

Fai nodded appreciatively. "Good choice. If I were gay, I would bang him."

"Tsk, watch your words," he hit him playfully.

Fai giggled. "What are you doing here, though? Aren't you supposed to be in the field observing your target?"

"Me? I don't like appearing before him,"

Tian Shi's eyes narrowed. He had never told Fai, but he had a strange feeling that his target Hui Long could feel his presence. Once when Hui was ten years old, he had gotten into a small car accident and fallen into a coma. Worried for the child, he had followed him to the hospital. Weirdly, after opening his eyes, the first thing Hui saw was him. The kid was looking straight at him. It was very, very, very strange.

Tian Shi shook his head. 'I must have been imagining it. How can a human see me? No one can see angels.'

"Come on, go. Don't you wish to have a bit of fun?" Fai nudged him.

He sighed. "I wish to, but I can't afford to eat even a small piece of grass in that restaurant. Poor old me. Just a broke soul floating around in agony," he fell into Fai's embrace, pouting.

"Tsk. Here." The other angel handed him a black card. "Use up my balance. I'm leaving."

"What?" Tian peered up at him. "Did your target propose?!"

"Yes, and his lover accepted. They eloped today and registered their marriage." Fai grinned widely. "So one benefit you get from that is this…" he pushed the card into his friend's pocket. "you don't have to live in a matchbox, and you can eat all the steak you want."

"Fai~~" Tian jumped and hugged him tightly. "I'll miss you...."

"I'll miss you too. But soon, you'll come to join me in heaven. I'm sure of that," he peered at him with a smile.

Tian Shi grinned. "Okay... I hope your lovely words come true."

"Of course they will. Don't you know us angels have the power of words? When we say things, it happens. So be careful of what you say, okay?" he patted his head softly. "take care of yourself. I'll be waiting."

The angel jumped off the roof, and in a second, his huge white wings spread out behind him. A pure halo enveloped him and he ascended into the clouds, disappearing from the mortal world.

Tian Shi blankly gazed up.

He... he was alone again.

"It's okay... I'll join him soon. God is just testing me. I will definitely pass this test with flying colors."

He got up, patting his snowy butt.

"I won't sit and watch anymore. I'm going into the field."

He quickly put away his small angelic wings and jumped down the building. Just as he was about to hit the ground, he floated slightly and landed softly.

"I'm going make him fall in love!"
