Completing The Quests (Part 2)

Jake, you're back." Andrea said as he saw Jake walk through the door. "I heard you went shopping, is that the only thing you bought." he said, pointing to the bag Jake was holding. "Did Sky tell you I went shopping?" Jake asked. "Yes. Didn't you?" answered Sky coming down the stairs after hearing Jake and his Dad talking. "Oh please, you know I didn't go shopping. Dad, don't listen to Sky. I only went to the mall to look around that's all, I decided to buy this last minute." Jake said, lifting the bag in his hand. "Well that's not a problem. You're just in time for dinner." Andrea told Jake while taking off the apron he was wearing. "Sky set the table. Tonight's dinner is pasta with diced meat, tomato sauce, and just a little bit of vegetables." "Really dad, vegetables?" complained Sky. "Yeah dad. I mean, I love vegetables but couldn't you have made the pasta without the vegetables?" said Jake, supporting Sky. "Now you two be quiet. I won't give the whole speech about how vegetables are important and nutritious and stuff but the vegetables are in the food, so deal with it. But there's a catch, for dessert, we're having blueberry pie filled with mincemeat. Made it myself." "Okay then," said Sky "let's dig in quickly 'cause I can't wait for dessert."

While eating, Jake decided to talk to Sky about following him to the gym. "Hey Sky, when next are you gonna hit the gym?" "Uh, maybe tomorrow. Why?" "Nothing much, I was thinking about following you." "I didn't know you go to the gym Jake." Andrea said, putting another fork of pasta in his mouth. "I don't. I just want to check it out." "The same way you checked out the mall today?" Sky asked him. "Yes Sky, the same way I checked out the mall today." "In that case we better prepare for you to come home with a membership card." Sky said, teasing Jake again. Seeing the annoyed expression on Jake's face, Sky apologized. "Sorry bro I'm just messing with you. You can follow me if you want."

Inside Cat's room, Cassie and Cat were talking about things that had happened in school, the annoying teacher who seemed to have turned on overdrive, the boys who were chasing Cat and Cassie, Cassie's boyfriend and so on. "So, when's the next date?" Cassie asked Cat who just stared at her blankly. "Oh don't be like that. I talk to you about my personal life, though not the very personal one." Cassie urged Cat. "Fine I don't know when the next date is, okay?" Cat gave in, "He might meet me at the mall tomorrow but not as a date." Cassie stared at her. "Really? You guys are gonna meet up tomorrow but it's not gonna be a date?" "Yeah so?" "Nothing. What do you see in him?" Cassie asked. "What do you mean?" "I mean, why do you like him so much?" "I don't know." Cat replied, "Maybe it's because he's sweet, and gentle, he's not egotistical like most guys, he actually pays close attention to the things I say. He might be a little naughty at times but in a good way." "Ugh," Cassie groaned, "you're getting that look again." "What look?" "The look you get anytime you think of Jake. Seriously, can you make it any less obvious that you're into the guy? At this rate, the whole world's gonna know by the end of the month." "Let them know, I don't care. I like Jake and nothing can change that." Cat said defiantly. "Whatever coz. Just take it easy, before you pass out from love." "Girls?" Aunt Maggie called from the living room, "Who's doing the dishes?" "It's Cassie's turn aunt." Cat answered. Getting up and leaving the room, Cassie went to do the dishes.

"Jake? Dude you there?" Sky asked, knocking on Jake's door. "Huh? What is it?" Jake asked groggily. "Just wanted to let you know I'll be leaving for the gym in an hour." Sky replied. "What?" Getting off his bed and taking a look at Sky, it seemed like he'd been up for at least 30 minutes already. "Sky, it's 6 O'clock in the morning. Why'd you have to leave so early?" "I just like going early. That way it doesn't interfere with any plans I have for the day." "Yeah whatever. Give me some time to get ready." "Don't take too long." Sky said as he left.

After getting ready, Jake and Sky left for the gym. "Hey, I'm meeting up with one of my friends there, you don't mind right?" Sky asked Jake. "It's cool bro."

Arriving at the gym, Sky saw his friend who went to the gym with him. "What's up?" Sky greeted him, "Hey man." Cole replied as they shook hands and walked into the gym. The gym had two sections, one for the beginners and the other for those who knew what they were doing. Walking towards the beginner section, Sky spoke to a muscular man about this being Jake's first time. "Jake, this is Hank. He'll be the one showing you the ropes and what to do so you don't kill yourself. The first time's free so no need to pay today, Cole and I are going to the other section because, you know, we know what we're doing." Sky said with a silly smile at the end. "Gee, thanks man. That was very helpful." said Jake sarcastically.

Following Hank deeper into the beginner section, Jake looked at all the equipments that were available. There were equipments for different kinds of people, those who came only to stay fit, those who came to get muscles, those who came only to get abs and so on. "So newbie, which one do you wanna try first?" Hank asked Jake. "I'll start with the 30kg dumbbells." Jake answered, choosing the dumbbells so he could complete his quest. "Okay. You sure you can lift it though?" Hank asked not sure about giving him the dumbbells. "Yeah I'm sure." "Suit yourself." Hank replied handing Jake the dumbbells. Lifting the dumbbells, they were heavier than Jake thought. He lifted them a few times just to get the hang of it, then asked his instructor, Hank, how to do it right. After learning how to do it right, Jake lifted the dumbbells 15 times and completed his quest.
