A Nefarious Scheme

In the distance, more werts could be seen flying towards where the fight was taking place, their number nearing a hundred.

There was a mixture of red and black blood along with body parts of humans and werts scattered all across the battlefield. Jake had done more than even the fight since now all the werts were dead and there were still some soldiers left alive despite the six-tailed wert drastically reducing their numbers the moment it arrived.

Back at the wert base where more werts were flying out from, a single six-tailed wert stood on the ground watching the others as they flew to join the fight. It had been the one to send them out and as it watched them fly off, a sly smile formed at the edges of its lips.

"Oxazel! Why did you send over half of our remaining forces to fight?" a five-tailed wert shouted as it walked over to meet the six-tailed wert.

"Watch your tone Horai. You wouldn't want to lose your life over nothing." Oxazel replied, her sight never leaving the flying werts. "I don't have to explain anything to you but I will, just for the fun of it. Some humans recently arrived on the planet. They tried their best to be subtle about it but the minute they passed near our base I saw them."

"Why didn't you do anything then?" Horai asked.

"Because they had the appearances of werts when they passed our base and soon more humans appeared out of nowhere. Most of them were what the humans call 'kids, children'. 'What harm could they do by running to the fight?' was what I thought at the time but their arrival tipped the scale in favour of the humans. It got me thinking: there are rumours about a human who is able to kill a five-tailed wert and is not in their army.

"The human that played an essential part in that fight just now did not look to be fully matured and was not wearing the uniform of those soldiers but he was able to kill that many werts whilst standing in one place. He is the one from those rumours."

"So aren't you sending the others to die?" Horai asked. "What if he does what he did before again?"

"I doubt that but..." Oxazel's six tails swayed confidently in the air as the smile on her face widened, enjoying the raw cunning of her plan. "We have an advantage fighting on this planet because there isn't any oxygen for the humans. You've seen the masks they were. Without that they are unable to fight. Surely it doesn't supply oxygen forever and if you get rid of the place where they get the masks from..."

"They cannot fight when they run out of oxygen." Horai said, finishing Oxazel's sentence after realizing what her plan was. "They are not going to join the fight. They are going to start another, right at the human base."

"And it's a good thing Saban is there right now."

The six-tailed wert was directly above Diane, its wings spread out and its claws raised high, ready to come down with a killing strike. Just as it had killed so many soldiers before now, it moved with such incredible speed that no one was able to keep up with it so it did not have to fight to defeat its opponents.

However as it descended its claws at the same speed it always did, about to cut into Diane's head and splatter her brain matter all over the ground, a really young looking human with black hair had appeared in his front and had taken a direct hit from him.

While Diane was doing everything she did with her colour magic, Jake had done what he wanted to do with the blood magic and now it was time for him to change it so they would stand a chance against the six-tailed wert and at least try to see it moving.

He had touched Sasha and mimicked her magic of super speed. Sasha had given him a look when he touched her as if she was about to hit him but he explained that he needed her magic.

He had replaced the blood magic with Sasha's super speed magic and although his combined magical strength had reduced, he would at least be able to see the six-tailed wert move and possibly keep up with it.

Jake had gotten a massive amount of stat points for killing those dozens of werts and although he was happy about that, he had just seen the six-tailed wert move and instantly break the sound barrier as it moved.

He had used the super speed magic to be moving on the spot until he saw where the six-tailed wert was going. He jumped towards Diane and used his back to take the hit she was about to receive from the six-tailed wert. He had the armour on so his attributes were increased and he knew even if the armour got damaged it would repair itself.

Now he was spiralling down to the ground with Diane after taking a hit from the six-tailed wert and he could not slow down or stop. They crashed into the ground and formed a small but very deep crater.

Jake groaned in pain as he tried to move but found he couldn't. His back ached after the hit even though he was wearing the enchanted armour and he was now in a crater which was more like a hole. He broke part of the ground around himself to give him more room to move before he jumped out with Diane.

She had taken more damage from the crash because she was in front of Jake but since her body had been fortified due to all the colour she had absorbed from the environment, she was still relatively fine.

"How was she able to take their strength just by taking colour from the werts' vision?" Smith asked. He always looked for a logical way to explain things which is what made him smart but right now he couldn't find any logical way of explaining how Diane got stronger by absorbing colour from the environment and from the werts. "It doesn't make any sense."

"It's magic dude." Kevin replied. "It doesn't have to make sense. Hell it does not make sense. How is Kyle able to shoot poison from his fingers? How are you able to steal health from others? Does that make any sense?"

Kevin had a point but Smith still wasn't satisfied. He wanted to know how she had done it and it was going to itch him at the back of his mind until he did. But right now there were far more pressing issues.

Jake had just jumped out of the crater/hole and the six-tailed wert was looking at Jake, his interest in Diane totally gone.
