Chapter 3 - The Status and Skill Screen

As Ronald was looking at the floating blue screen, Jack called out to him.

"Oh, right. It is your first time seeing the floating blue screen. So, do you wanna let me explain everything in there?" Jack said as he noticed Ronald looking at the air in front of him.

"That would be great, uncle."

"Hmmm... Where should I start?" Jack said as he took a chair near the table, then he sat on it with one hand supporting his chin

"Okay, try saying status... Then, tell me what you see."

Hearing what jack said, Ronald followed.

"Status"

As Ronald uttered those words, a bigger floating blue screen appeared in front of him.

Seeing the blue screen, Ronald said what was in there to Jack.

"So, let's start with the "Title" as "Name" is self-explanatory. The title is..."

Jack continued telling Ronald what each word in the status screen are, and also how the status screen came to be.

Everything Ronald heard and learned in Jack's lecture can be summarized as;

Title - is what the "will of the world" recognizes you to be. Different titles have different effects. For you to receive a title, one's accomplishment must be recognized by the gods of this world before the "will of the world" will give its recognition. Immediately after you receive the recognition of the "will of the world," you will receive an appropriate title along with the title's effect. The fastest way to receive the recognition of the world is to accomplish something never accomplished before.

You can also receive the recognition of the world by accomplishing excellent feats that most people can't do. This is the reason why you will receive a title every time you level up.

Not all humans can be awakened, and not all awakened humans can achieve a higher level.

Class - is the thing that you awaken in the awakening ceremony for adulthood. Although it was said that the class that you would awaken is the class that has the highest suitability for your physique and constitution along with your knowledge and experience, but it still can be changed to another class. There are two situations where one could change his class.

The first situation is that if a person is not satisfied with the class he awakened and wanted to change it to another class. In this case, that person must first advance to level 2 before he can change his class into something that he wanted, but after changing his class, that person will return to level 1 also deducting that person's potential by one grade as the cost for the <class-changing ceremony>.

The second situation is that if a person received recognition from the world itself without receiving recognition from any one or more gods due to his achievements or accomplishments. In this case, that person would receive a class that is better than his current class without any cost or any other thing to be exchanged with. Also, another difference between the first and second situation is that the first should be performed in an altar of any god while the second can instantly change your class wherever and whenever you are.

Race - is the race one belongs to. There are many kinds of race in the world, and each race has its own strengths and weaknesses. For example;

Barbarians have a higher value in strength and constitution, but they have a lower value in dexterity and a very small amount of mana.

Ice demons have a lower value in strength, dexterity, and constitution, but they have a very high value in wisdom and intelligence.

And as for humans, they have average stats in all aspects, but they have great adaptability for any race. For example, if a human and a barbarian have a child, their child's race would either be human or half-barbarian. If the child's race is human, then the child would have a chance to awaken a bloodline form after awakening, boosting his stats and giving him the natural skill of the barbarians such as <Enhanced strength> and <Sturdy body>. But if the race of a child is half-barbarian, then that child would only receive a small boost in his stats, but he would have no chance of awakening a bloodline form. That child would be stronger than average humans but weaker than those who awakened their bloodline form. Although, that child can still undergo the awakening ceremony.

Level - represents your standing in the world.

Strength - is the amount of power you can apply in your attacks. It also indicates how strong your muscles and how much weight you can carry. Although having a huge amount of strength doesn't make someone more muscular, as a living being's muscles would only increase in size until it reaches the limit the body allows to. And from there, every increase in strength would only compress the muscles in one's body while not changing its size.

Dexterity - Affects the overall speed, such as movement speed, and attack speed.

Constitution - represent how much damage your body can bear and how tough your flesh is. This stat also affects how fast you can heal from the amount of damage you receive. There is even a legend saying that if your constitution stat is high enough, you will receive an immortal body. It is only a legend, though, as no one has ever proved or achieved this feat. Or maybe there is someone, but was not known by people.

Intelligence - Affects the amount of mana a person has and represents a person's overall ability to memorize and to think.

Wisdom - Affects the control a person has on his own mana, this also affects how well a person can control their magic skills. Thus reducing the cost of mana and increase the damage of the magic skill. This stat also represents one's comprehension and analyzation speed either in battle or in learning skills or in both.

Status effectiveness - determines the real value of your stats.

"Now, see the information about all the skills that you have by saying <Skills>."

After explaining the status screen to Ronald, Jack started explaining about the <Skill screen>.

Listening to what Jack had said, Ronald followed what he was instructed to do.

"Skill"

After he said that, another blue screen appeared, and shortly after, the status screen disappeared.

***Awakened Skills***

Tame (Active) - Lv 1: Uses mana to form a contract that will connect the user to the beast.

*Note: The amount of mana used depends on the level of the user and the level of the beast.

Beast Appraisal (Active) - Lv 1: This skill will show information about the targeted beast.

*Note: The higher the level of the skill, the more detailed the information that will be presented.

Beast Synchronization (Active) - Lv 1: Uses mana to achieve a partial synchronization with the user's tamed beast, which will temporarily give the user 20% of the tamed beast's stats, likewise, the beast will receive 20% of the user's stats.

Cost: 100 Mp/sec.

***Special Skills***

Identify (Active/Passive): A special skill that is also the blessing of the goddess of information to all human beings after their awakening. This skill shows the name and the public information of the target.

*Note: If certain conditions are met, this skill will automatically identify anything on the user's hands.

There are two types of skills; Passive skills and Active skills.

Passive skills - are skills that would immediately take effect as long as all the conditions of the skill are met.

Active skills - are skills that require specific resources to execute it or for it to take an effect, the most common resource that is used for activating these skills is mana.

There are also 3 classifications of skills.

Awakened Skills - are skills that are acquired by fulfilling certain conditions, and are mostly acquired by comprehending the foundation and structure of a skill. This skill also doesn't need any skill slot.

Acquired Skills - are skills that are acquired by using a core to build up the foundation and structure of the skill and don't require someone to comprehend and understand the skill to acquire it. This skill needs skill slots

Special Skills - are skills that have a low threshold for learning and are mostly auxiliary skills that cannot be used in battle.

Time passed slowly as the sun slowly left the horizon.

It was already evening when Jack finished explaining his knowledge about the system. Therefore, Jack decided to let Ronald sleep so that they can start their training early in the morning as he has to take care of his shop.

As the sun slowly rises, its rays woke up many creatures, big and small, telling all of them to wake up and start their daily lives.

Ronald, who was sleeping in an ordinary wooden bed that is found inside his uncle Jack's shop, slowly opened his eyes and woke up. He then started stretching his hands up in the air to wake his body and started preparing for his training with his uncle Jack.

As he went out of the house/shop, he saw his uncle in the backyard holding a big sword waving it in a particular way that makes it look like a chaotic dance.

Ronald watched his uncle's movements as he went to get a wooden sword, laying on a wall, and started following what his uncle was doing.

Jack was so immersed in his practice that he didn't notice what Ronald was doing or that Ronald was there.

After some time, Jack was done practicing his swordsmanship and then looked at Ronald, who was sweating buckets at the side.

"Rest for a while, then we'll eat our breakfast. Hannah had already prepared some food for us."

"Yes, uncle. By the way, uncle, how should we train today?"

Hearing Ronald's question, Jack showed a scary smile that scared his soul out of his body.

'I wouldn't die, right? Absolutely, uncle wouldn't let me die.'

Ronald thought to himself and then calmed his heart for a moment before he recalled something in the past that caused him to cover his butt unconsciously.

Seeing Ronald's reaction, Jack loudly laughed as he remembered the time when he was training Ronald on dodging attacks. The training's goal is for Ronald to dodge his hands from spanking his butt, but the gap between their strength and experience is so big that even if Jack controlled his strength, he would always hit Ronald's butt.

That time Ronald had trouble sitting for days and slept with his back facing the ceiling, causing him to have a stiff neck the next morning.

After they finished resting, they went back to the house and ate their breakfast.
