Balance of Yin and Yang

"Morning, Class," Zariel said.

"Is this some kind of joke?" Renford Sotri, a Lord from a foreign kingdom to the west, shouted, taking a stand.

"Agreed. Where is our Professor?" Another, by the name of Alis, remarked, placing her hands over her slender waist. Her tender brow lifted in a questioning way.

"Sit your ass down!"

"The hell is your mama, boy!"

"Fuck off!"

Facing the brutal onslaught of shouts and screams, many students rose one after another, raising their voices. Discontent began to spread like wildfire as many of the students slowly approached the Young Master.

Resisting the urge to snap their necks, Zariel maintained his smile and lifted his hand. Slowly closing his palm, everyone who spoke out suddenly froze. Their eyes grew wide as Zariel's palm slowly closed, forcing their windpipes to contract.

The faces of various Young Men and Women began to pale as their lips began to turn a deep shade of purple and blue. Clenching their necks to relieve the pressure crushing their lives, the only thing they saw was the demonic smile on the young master's lips.

"It said that the average human can hold their breath for three minutes, and depending on your race, that number will either go up or down, "The Silver Devil said, coldly watching the faces of the children trying to gasp for air. "Now, since most of you are not even adults, we can lower that number."

"P-Please!" Alis stammered out, crawling towards the young master, with tears filling her pink eyes. Gasping for air, the best she could sweat trickled down her brow.

"Those who have a brain will continue to remain still and try to preserve oxygen," He continued in a cold demeanor, "The more energy you excerpt, the more oxygen your body will require; this is a basic fundamental fact for most races."

"Professor—" Sionn shouted.

"They have learned their lesson," Ella finished.

"Maybe," Zariel remarked, "But what is punishment without consequences?" Shifting his gaze to Renford, shaking uncontrollably, the Devil's smile deepened, "I will wait for them to blackout, wait five minutes, and let some brain-damage kick in."

A deadly realization sunk into those who had not spoken and had remained seated. Thoughts spun, but no one dared to speak out as they all stared at their fellow students slowly dying before them. Terror grabbed at their hearts, and they dared not make a sound.

"Sir! That will be enough!" A stern, rigid voice sounded as the door to the classroom was shot open. Eyeing the seven or so knights, all around the middle age, Zariel whipped his free hand in a jerking motion as the necks of all seven knights twisted till the skin on their necks broke. And their heads slipped from their bodies.

Pushing their bloodied remains out of his room without so much as a second thought, he shifted his attention back to everyone, "I don't know who knights those were, but I don't care. There will be order in my class, or there will be chaos. And I assure you all; you don't want the chaos." He chuckled, releasing his hold as echoes of gasps spilled into the air.

"Everyone can return to their seats." He finally said, and the lesson began, "For those who do not know me, I am a duke of the kingdom of Ferrum. The very duke who forced the King into granting me a title at infancy. I care not for the kingdom nor the rule of others. The only reason I allow you insects who insult me to live is due to the respect I have for the Deans Coven. No other reason. In Ferrum, I am known as the Devil of the North, a fitting name, as I can either be your savor or demise."

"Dear God, he is loving this," Aurelia mumbled to herself, watching her Dumb-Dumb, smiling from ear to ear.

"Questions?"

No one raised their hands. None dared to meet his mischievous gaze. He nodded, clapping his hands, "I don't know what the Hell you learned last year, and I don't give a damn. This class will be about the Theory of Arcana. By the end of this semester, you should be able to manipulate any tier one spell. And to do so, we will be talking about the opposite of your spells and your elemental nature."

"So starting today, everyone will form now on-use their opposite element. So if you're a fire user, you will use water. If you are light, you will use darkness. If your wind, you will use earth. So on and so forth."

"What about Lightning," Aurelia, the only one who dared to speak, asked, raising her hand.

Eyes darted to her, filled with terror, and pity, as they foresaw her being tormented by the Silver Devil.

"It could be Earth or Water," Zariel explained, shocking everyone by not tormenting the golden eye girl like they thought he would. "As Lightning is a part of the higher elements like Darkness and Light, it could have more than one weakness depending on how one uses it. So if you use Lightning, I recommend you focus on both elements.

"What are higher elements!" Ella asked.

"Someone didn't read the books I granted her," The Young Lord chastised, glaring at the little elf whose cheeks began to redden.

"They are elements that 'could' require the fusion of elements. For example, to get Lighting, you can merge Air and Wind. Higher Elements like Light, Blood, Gravity, Darkness, or whatnot are usually variants or just freaks of nature that stand out. They are innately stronger than most elements and require much attunement to cast any spells that require them."

Scrunching her brow, Aurelia looked up at Zariel, pondering the theory of Life and Death. She had only focused on Death till now and hadn't bothered to think of Life.

"As this is the College of Twilight, none of you should technically have a weakness if you follow my lesson; this will be the first step you take into becoming Immortals."

Continuing on, one by one, many of the students Zariel had begun to fall entranced in his lesson as they heard him speak regarding the Ying and Yang of the various elements and how that being the opposites did not necessarily mean they were a weakness. When Fire clashed with water, the water turned to a vaper, and the Fire died out, leaving only a lingering heat while the vaper would rise into the air. No side one,

There was only Balance.
