Chapter 6

Alex, who had flown out of the country to attend a meeting with a potential client, had to cancel everything and return. So he called his assistant Arnold to wrap everything up on his way to the airport.

"But Sir, Mr. Malcom will not be pleased with us if I attend the meeting in your place. you know..."

"I did not call you for a lecturer Arnold." Alex cut him off. He was not in the mood for any useless talk. "Do as I say. If he rejects you, then return to the country. understood?" He hung up before receiving a response from Arnold.

Arnold removed the phone from his ears when he heard the beeping sound. He looked at his phone and sighed, "Yes, Sir."

His boss seemed to be in a bad mood, and he had to cut his important trip short even before meeting the client speaks volumes. Something seems to be off. He had not received any alerts from the office, so he couldn't understand why Mr. Alex was in such a rush.

"None of your business Arnold; just perform your work and stay out of your boss' business." He said to himself.

Heading to his boss' hotel room, he was shocked to find broken pieces on the ground. And there was blood too. He shuddered in fear. Whatever sent him back home must be a life-and-death situation. He was glad that he still had two more days away from the office.

Mr. Alex's hard look appeared in his mind, and he shuddered again. Out of concern, though, he decided to call Mr. Christopher, his boss's right-hand man.

"You have reached Chris' phone; if it's not important, please leave no message," the answering machine was the reply.

"Mr. Christopher, I know that this is none of my business, but Mr. Alex has returned to the country, and he seemed in such a rush. We haven't signed the deal yet; you know how important it was to both the company and him. Also, there is blood on the bathroom floor and broken glass pieces from the mirror. Please check on him, Sir; I am apprehensive. Thank you.

He clutched his chest and released the breath he didn't know he was holding.

While on the plane, Alex was impatient, and the fact that he had to fly Business alongside everyone else made the situation two times worse. He regretted sending back his private jet immediately.

As he sat there, flashbacks from his past started creeping back to him. His face showed a pained expression, and his eyes were turning bright blue again. He had to wear his shades not to alert anyone. His hands were clenched on his side. A sign of helplessness. He wanted to punch the pilot for not starting the plane.

"We are third in priority for take-off; we should depart in about five minutes. Flight attendants, please prepare for take-off," Came the pilot's voice.

"Ladies and gentle....."

Alex turned the flight attendant off in his mind. He didn't like too much noise. This explains why he has his private jet. Then, he decided to shut his eyes, hoping that the plane shall land soon.

He was six hours away from his country, and danger loomed around his people.

"Hello, Sir, would you like to have any refreshments" The flight attendant called out politely, but the gentleman waved his hand dismissively. The lady beside him looked at the man and changed her mind about what she was thinking of him.

"How rude," She whispered with the intent that Alex should hear. Alex opened his eyes, and the stern look shocked the lady. She turned her head to the side and pretended to read her book more intently. Alex just closed his eyes and folded his arms around his chest.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to City A international Airport. Local time is 11 am, and the temperature is 23 degrees.

For your safety and comfort, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the Captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign." Announced the flight attendants

"Welcome back, Sir. the car is packed at the front." A young gentleman who looked like a bodyguard said as he directed Alex to where the car had been packed.

Alex, who had been irritated already, just gave a cat nod as a recognition of the bodyguard.

When they reached the car, Alex couldn't wait to get to his destination, so he opened his door, leaving the young man beside him disturbed. So he could only board since the boss seemed to be in a hurry.

Inside the car, there was an old man with graying hair. He looked, but he still bowed to Alex, and one could see the shiver that ran through him when Alex didn't answer his greetings.

"What happened?" Was Alex's reply. The old man pulled out some pieces of paper and handed one of them to Alex.

Looking through the paper, Alex was so angry that he scrunched the paper up in a fist. "How many were killed."

"Two, and one was seriously injured," answered the old man. The old man could smell blood just by looking at Alex. Whoever dared to cross him must have had a death wish.

"Family?" asked Alex.

"Yes, Sir. One of the men killed was Malcolm, a husband with a pregnant wife, and the other was Simon, who wasn't married. The old man possed his speech like he was scared to mention the last man's name.

"Eliot!" Alex warned

"Yes.. yes... Sir," He stuttered.

"You seem to have forgotten one name. Need I remind you that I hate wasting time" Alex said, but his eyes were looking out the window. One could think that he was reckless, but he was scared thinking of the possibility of the last name. He wanted to get the answer but still did not want to. Maybe if he did not hear it, it would be better.

"Da... Daniel, Sir," said Eliot. His eyes turned red too.

Alex shuddered from the mention of the name, and the pain was evident in his eyes. "Condition"

"Badly injured and in a coma. Doctor Patrick promised to do his best to bring him back. He fought with his all Alpha," Eliot said with tears.

On the other hand, Alex had red eyes, but he fought the tears from falling. Not a time to be weak. "Who is the snitch."

"It was Dennis, Alpha. The investigation shows that he has been a double agent for three months now, and we found some things that are pretty damaging to our life, and I don't know if he had told the enemy about them yet.

"Where is that snake? Tell them to send him to 02 and fill the tanks for me." The killing aura surrounded him, and the car felt so cold that no one dared to utter a single word.

"Code red," old man Eliot spoke into his phone.
