Chapter 39

Malia looked at him and nodded softly. Whatever it was, she didn't know, but she couldn't deny that she felt safe just by sitting beside him. 'Could it be a good thing to have a baby with him?' Her mind started to whirl around in thoughts again. She turned to take a peek at Alex, and she couldn't deny that he was one good-looking man. 'What were the odds that out of all the men in the world, it would be the most eligible bachelor to take her virginity?'

As stupid as it may sound, Malia had secretly breathed a sigh of relief when she realized he was the man she had slept with. Yes, it was shameful, especially because Mr. Ford was a total stranger then. It could have been a psycho or even a serial killer. The mere thought of all those possibilities made a cold chill run down Malia's spine.

"Hey," Alex tapped Malia, who seemed absent-minded, on the shoulders. Then, finally, she turned to look at him and gave him a little smile.

"So, Malia, as you might have been briefed already about being pregnant," Doctor Henry started but posed mid-sentence to confirm with Malia, who nodded. "Ok, since you know about the pregnancy, I am going to talk about the hard part that Alex couldn't tell you about."

Of course, it wasn't Alex who had told her everything, but doctor Henry didn't need to know that. The two sitting opposite the doctor turned to look at each other silently. Malia wasn't sure, but Alex seemed more nervous than she was. Was it her imagination, or was he? But why would he be scared when she was the one with the babies in her belly? He could choose to reject them, and she wouldn't do anything against him even if she wanted to.

"After you had fainted three days ago, I did a full-body check-up on you, and the results were not really that good" doctor Henry expected Malia to be scared or even give a reaction, but the girl only looked at him as if to tell him that it didn't matter

After so many years of not feeding well, her body would turn out bad. Malia wasn't surprised that her body condition was not good. She never got to feed well, even as a baby, and even when she was at the orphanage, feeding wasn't good. "I understand, doctor Henry," she said it so calmly for someone at the center of it all.

Alex, beside her, felt strange because even with what the doctor had said, her emotions remained stable. 'Was she not worried about the babies at all?' These thoughts were all colliding with what he thought of her earlier. He wanted his babies to come alive, and the thought of Malia suggesting a termination would be heartbreaking.

"Because of the weakness in your body, it makes it hard for you to carry a baby, not to talk about carrying two at the same time. After the results, I researched more on the issue, and the outcome promised hope. To put it simply, there is a solution to the problem." The doctor placed a file before Malia, who picked it up.

"I will explain those images and notes about the complications your body is experiencing. They are a detailed report of what is wrong with you and the body's position in harboring a child," the doctor explained patiently. He wanted her to know her problem before he could bring the one month's sleep.

Outside the door, both Daniel and Amber were sitting closely together. They were each praying deep within them that the outcome of whatever was going on inside would be positive. Then, finally, Daniel turned to Amber and asked the question that had been bagging him. "Love," he called.

"Yes," Amber answered softly as she turned to look at Daniel.

"Do you think Luna Malia would be willing to carry the Alpha's babies?" Daniel didn't know much about Malia, but he believed in her character as a person. But, despite his perception of her, It wasn't a simple thing for a girl to easily surrender her body for childbirth, especially with a stranger. Look at his own Amber, whom he had known for years; she wasn't ready to get pregnant, claiming it would distort her beautiful figure.

"Despite knowing Malia for a short time, I believe she would never turn herself against her own. So even though the babies are still embryos and their father could be said to be more or less a stranger to her, my good friend would never terminate the pregnancy."

She was confident about Malia's character as a person because of the way she carried herself. However, after listening to Malia earlier, Amber believed that her friend might have had a horrible childhood. To the point that she was questioning herself as a potential parent.

"I believe you, but....." Daniel was skeptical, although he trusted Amber. All in all, he only wanted his Alpha to find happiness too. Alpha Alex had gone through a lot through the years, and it was high time he saw a happy ending.

Malia was still in a daze inside the study after doctor Henry explained her condition. Was it really that bad that she needed to sleep for a month just to get nutrition in her body?

"Doctor Henry, can I listen to their heartbeats?" Maybe the children were a blessing from God as a reward for her being alone all this while.

"Yes, of course. I carried the equipment with me because that is what every mother loves to do once they find out they are pregnant. He was happy with Malia's request because, most times, the children's heartbeat would change the perception of women who wanted to terminate their pregnancies. But, unfortunately, although Malia hadn't said anything along the lines, she was too calm, disturbing Doctor Henry a bit.

He clearly remembers Mr. Ford's call earlier in the day. He wanted him to do everything possible to ensure that Malia didn't make suggestions for termination. Doctor Henry was really worried, but he was a little hopeful as far as it went.

"Mr. Ford, could we use your guest rooms for the scan?" Alex was more than happy to abide by the request

"Of course, doctor" He stood up and helped Malia, and together, they led doctor Henry to the main bedroom. He made Malia sit at the edge of the bed as he stood beside her as they both waited for the scanning equipment to be set up.

Henry was very efficient as a doctor, so he set the equipment fast and asked Malia to lay on the bed. With the help of Alex, she lay with her back down and her face to the ceiling. She felt awkward lying on the bed with her blouse lifted and two men in a closed room.

Alex looked at her and saw how she was flashed. He could tell what was going on in her mind. "He would have really wanted to hear her thoughts, but it was all thanks to the fact that he hadn't marked her yet. Yes, they had joined sexually, but that only helped him tell the changes in her emotions but not decipher them clearly to a point where he could pinpoint what she was thinking.

"The gel is a little cold," doctor Henry warned before he rubbed the gel on the lower part of Malia's belly.

When the gel was applied, Malia's hand grabbed Alex's out of reflex because she wanted something to hold onto, and he was sitting close by. As soon as she realized what she had done, she tried to pull her hand out, but Alex only held on tighter. He would be a fool not to take advantage of such rare moments.

Alex could feel the tingles and sparks due to their skin touching, and he loved every bit of it. He knew that Malia was feeling it, too, just by the way that it made her so relaxed and calm. He smiled a little, and the joy could also be seen in his eyes.
