Chapter 17

The two men looked at her, and Daniel could only shake his head as if to tell her that it was ok. After seeing how the Alpha was with her, he would give it to her even if she wanted the whole house.

Alex, who didn't like Daniel's muted response and the awkward way Malia was standing there nervously, nudged Daniel with his elbow. She looked innocent and too polite.

Daniel understood immediately and politely responded to Malia. He told her that he already knew because Amber had already informed him. He told her to stay for as long as she needed because she was his girlfriend's friend, and so she was his too. Malia was so grateful to the point that her eyes reddened. She bowed to Daniel and said thank you.

Amber held her arm and pulled her towards the dining telling her to come and eat since she hadn't eaten for the whole day. Malia asked Amber why she hadn't woken her up to help since she was the one who was supposed to cook food, but Amber only pushed her down on the seat to sit down and put a bowl of rice in front of her.

"Sorry, I couldn't make the hot pot I promised you. These guys can't handle a lot of spice. So I will take you to a place with the best hot pot. Ok?

Alex was taking notes as he sat at the table. 'So she loves hot pot?' He thought to himself. She was indeed meant to be his. She was so beautiful; his eyes hurt just by looking at her. He had to finish the sweeping mission to introduce himself to her officially. How wonderful it would be to have her with him all the time.

On the other hand, Malia wasn't comfortable; she could feel someone drilling holes in her face using his eyes, and it was getting hard even to swallow food. She was famished but couldn't bring herself to eat comfortably because of how Mr. Alex was looking at her.

The grievance in her heart was so much; how could she eat her food comfortably if someone wouldn't stop looking at her so much.

Amber realized that her friend wasn't eating her food, so she picked some meat and placed it on her plate, asking her to eat a bit more since she hadn't eaten the whole day. Malia could only smile and politely bow her head to her friend as a thank-you sign since she had some food in her mouth. It was even hard to chew.

As if God had listened to her silent prayer, Alex received a call, and they both left, saying they had some urgent matters to take care of. Malia was so happy because she could eat her food comfortably. How delicious the food was, and she almost failed to enjoy it because of someone who wouldn't stop looking at her.

"The food is so delicious," Amber complemented with a big smile as she put the meat in her mouth.

Amber, who had now read the situation, laughed so hard, catching Malia off guard so she could only look at her with questioning eyes since her mouth was filled with food.

"I am just wondering why someone suddenly has an appetite because a while ago........" Amber was stopped mid-sentence when Malia kicked her under the table. Malia had already suffered Mr. Alex's endless staring, and she wasn't going to add Amber's teasing. It wasn't fair on her.

Back in the car, Daniel, who was driving, couldn't stop stealing glances at the Alpha as if wanting to ask him something. However, he couldn't bring himself to phrase the question because he wasn't sure of how to put it.

Alex also pretended as if he hadn't seen him. He knew what his Beta wanted to ask exactly, but he wasn't ready to dive into the whole situation. Instead, his mind was on Christopher, whom he would meet, and all the other traitors who decided to work with the hunters to harm his family.

He felt guilty that he didn't share with his best friend, but he remembered the moments when he shared so much with Christopher and how Malia was included in some of those conversations. How could he speak about her to a traitor? He felt somehow guilty, although it wasn't his fault.

He didn't know how he would face Chris, but if there were one thing he would do once he got there, but he wanted to punch him in the face. Alex wanted Chris to tell him why he would do that to him. Was he part of the hunters way before they had met?

"We are here."
