CHAPTER 56

Yoo Na had told her parents about the investment and of course, they were ecstatic when they heard they could make millions from investing in APEX but she was careful not to let them know who the helper was as she told them it was Cha Eun which they easily believed.

It was a Saturday morning and Yoo Na scheduled the day for a visit to the station, she sensed something was not right with So Ra's death especially after seeing her following Min Hye and Dae Hyun at the party and was later found dead and said to have committed suicide, she didn't want to point fingers without any suitable leads as she reasoned it must have been a love triangle and she must have been jealous of the both of them which drove her to commit suicide but was Dae Hyun a man worth committing suicide for? That was a question she didn't have an answer to which meant that she had to get close enough to her suspect and helper, but he was more of her helper than a suspect as his actions slowly erased him from her suspect list but she could never be quite sure. The devil was once an Angel or was he really, the devil might have been a devil all along who only wore the mask of an Angel, so she wouldn't be surprised if someone with a good name in the society turned out to be the real devil all along.

She got dressed up and set to leave when she heard the doorbell ring. It was a delivery man with a small flat parcel in his hold. She thought, she had been receiving often deliveries. She took it and watched the delivery man disappear from sight before tearing it open, to find a wedding invitation card inside, it was plain but elegant.

It belonged to Min Hye and Dae Hyun but she wasn't surprised they had invited her. The wedding was taking place next month which she thought was quite early, it seemed like they couldn't wait to get married to each other.

She saw a small note on the side that requested her to come to the office when she was free. She thought it was a good idea to go so that she could observe him more but she wondered why he had requested her presence, maybe it was the investment.

She didn't want to suspect him since he had been so helpful to her but her instincts said otherwise as he had been connected to the deaths at his workplace but of course, there was no hard evidence that would suspect him as the murderer and the fact that society was on his side as they perceived him to be a perfect citizen didn't help in convincing her that he was the killer but for now that was the only leads she had and unless she had more, she would observe him and everyone around.

She kept the wedding invitation carefully in her room before dashing out to visit the station in case the officers had any more information for her.

She arrived at the station and went in, Officer Jung moon saw her and immediately invited her into Inspector Han's office with a plastered smile on his face.

She greeted them and she was motioned to sit down.

"Do you have any information?" She asked immediately and the Inspector pressed his lips in a thin line before saying,

"No, it's almost impossible to catch such a genius." The Inspector said and Yoo Na sighed in disappointment.

"Don't you have any suspects yet? Or even a tiny lead?" She asked.

"I do have a suspect but the station won't acknowledge it since there's not enough evidence to bring him in, not a fingerprint or even a strand of hair, he's more like a ghost. It's like he cleans up his victims thoroughly before disposing their bodies, he's very carefu and smart, I've never seen such a smart criminal before." Inspector Han said and her eyes shone in bewilderment.

"You have a suspect? Who is it?" She asked immediately.

"I can't tell you that and besides I'm not so sure either, I don't have any evidence to back up my words, I'm only relying on my instincts." The Inspector said and she wondered if it was a good idea to rely only on his instinct.

"Why can't you tell me? I promise I'll be very discreet about it." She promised with hope filled eyes.

"It's confidential and besides, you don't even have any information for me." The inspector reasoned out and she pressed her lips shut. She couldn't tell him about her leads, she didn't want the police to get to the culprit before her that was why she was getting information from them without her giving them any. She knew they would only punish him by putting him in jail but it was too merciful for her, she wanted him dead.

"I don't have any, it's been pointless all through." She lied, she couldn't tell them about her plans of searching CCTV cameras around the area the victims were last seen to find a recurring plate number in the vicinity which would enable her draw out a suspect since it would awfully be suspicious for a car to appear around all the areas where the anonymous gift killer victims were last seen.

"So why do you even bother? Just focus on school or something, aisshh it's so tiring." The inspector said.

"If you're tired, then leave the rest to me, tell me who the suspect is." She demanded in a hard tone and the place was silent for a minute as the inspector saw the burning fire in her eyes.

"I'll give you a hint, the suspect was present in the opening event of APEX manufacturing company." The inspector said and her eyes went as wide as saucers.

"Is it Dae Hyun?" She asked in shock as she forcefully gulped down the possibility of Dae Hyun being the anonymous gift killer.

"How did you find out? I guess instincts are very powerful, right? I never knew anyone would be able to suspect him, I wasn't even sure of myself anymore." The inspector said, a mixture of surprise and impressed look on his face.

"He's helping me out with an investment, he said his sister was a victim too so he's helping me catch the killer but I made him a suspect since the deaths were connected to him, not that I have any hard evidence against him" She said truthfully and the inspector nodded in consideration at her words.

"You're right, sometimes I wonder myself if he's the actual culprit but we won't know the whole truth if we don't have any evidence." The inspector said and she nodded. He was right, Dae Hyun might or might not be the killer. "I've done my research on his family, they died in a fire accident but he didn't have any siblings so, why did he lie?" The inspector said as he squinted his eyes suspiciously and Yoo Na couldn't help but doubt him more.

"Really? He's definitely hiding something if he lied but why would he lie when he knows I'm working with the police and I'd easily find the truth out?" She mumbled to herself more than talking to the Inspector but he heard her clearly enough.

"You told him you were working with the police? Why would you do that?" The Inspector said in alert.

"He was helping me catch the killer but we don't know if he's the culprit or not so we shouldn't assume he is..." Yoo Na said immediately, she didn't want to jump into conclusions that Dae Hyun was the killer. If he was the killer then why would he be helping her make money or capturing the killer? It was all so confusing but she would soon find out the truth once she got her hands on those CCTV footages.

"But if he is, then he knows we're after him and he'll definitely try to kill the both of us with that genius mind of his." Inspector Han said thoughtfully and Yoo Na realized how right he was, he would not only kill the both of them but Jisoo and Cha Eun too since they were involved but it was all confusing and at the same time starting to make sense to her.

He was close to Cha Eun's family and that would have given him a better access to kill his mother but why was he close to their family? Was he planning something else? If he was truly the anonymous gift killer, then he was definitely harbouring a slow, devious plan in his head which no one was aware of.

She wondered if he had set out the plan to be close to their family in the first place and if this was part of his plan all along from the beginning and he had targeted Cha Eun's family, then what was his true motive?
