The New Way of Shinobi

The great hero of the Shinobi world died. As he was supposed to, his soul fell into the hands of the Shinigami. The God of Death purified the soul and sent it back to the world of the living. Thus, a new life was born. But the Shinigami didn't know one important thing... It had been a long time since the hero's soul had been bound to another soul, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox himself...

Prologue 4

"I see. You're a Shinigami, coming from a place called the Soul Society to destroy the Evil Spirit. I see…" I nodded, crossing my arms across my chest and abbreviating the girl's entire speech in a more comprehensible way.

"Hmm… I didn't expect you to believe me so easily…" sitting on the floor and rubbing the places where the fishing line clutched, she was surprised at my reaction.

"I don't believe you," I retorted with a flutter of my hands. "Yes, I admit that you're not human. But the rest, I demand proof."

Well, it's not that I don't believe it… it's just that I have my doubts. After all, I've seen the real God of Death before.

"Oh… You want proof…" she grinned wickedly, and then rose from the floor to face me. "Then get it!" she suddenly cried out and pointed two fingers at me. "Bakudō - Sai!"

After she said that, something invisible suddenly twisted me, put my hands behind my back, and pinned me to the floor! No matter how hard I tried and fluttered, I couldn't even move!

"What is it!?" I let out a shocked gasp, trying to get free, but to no avail.

'Naruto! It's some sort of mixture of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu! This technique binds the target and strips it of its balance! The girl is not as easy as she looks!' I heard Kurama's slightly agitated voice.

'That… I've noticed it myself…' clenching my teeth, I continued to flutter senselessly.

"Ha-ha… the hour of reckoning…" she laughed angrily, stepping on me.

"Now you won't be able to move. It's called Kido, and it's an advanced spell that only Shinigami can use!" she kicked me with force, clearly taking revenge for the recent one, and continued,

"Even though I look so young, I've been alive almost ten times longer than you have. So l-links… ah! How dare you behave like that to me!" she kicked me even harder. "I usually kill people like that, but the spiritual laws say you can't kill people without orders."

'Clearly, she can't hurt you… at least not fatally. She's obviously trying to intimidate you. Except…'

"You obviously enjoyed being tied up! And wait… you're an old woman?!" I wondered as I endured the pain and ignored her subsequent blows.

I had forgotten that all women are very "sensitive" about age…

After another kick to my frail body, the Shinigami, as if losing interest in me, drew her sword and pointed the blade in my direction. I was worried and even sweating from this turn. How petty do you have to be to kill someone just for the mention of age!But my fear was in vain. The Shinigami wasn't targeting me. The handle of her sword touched and imprinted on the forehead of that recent bespectacled ghost man, whereupon he glowed brightly and vanished into thin air with a face of utter bliss. All that was left in his place was a black, sharp-winged butterfly, flying away somewhere…

"What have you done…?" I asked, perplexed by the scene I had seen.

"I sent him to the Society of Souls. It's called 'soul burial' or 'going to Heaven' in your language," she explained calmly, putting her sword back into its scabbard. "Hmm? I see by the look on your face that you finally believe me. Ha-ha!" she smiled strangely and drew something resembling a sketchbook from her pocket. "I will graciously explain everything to you with illustrations, so that even a jerk like you can understand everything. Be quiet and listen!"
