Chapter 11

I looked at Raguel as he introduced me as the duaghter of someone named Michael and Alyda Hayes. One of them had to be an angel at least and wanted to ask him more about my parents.

At his introduction, Pinacelia had gone quiet and said,"Does Michael know he has a daughter on this part of the world?"

"Apparently, no. You know what happens when we go back",Raguel answered him and I wondered if Michael, my father, was the angel parent. She only nodded and didn't say anything.

'But how did they know about my parents?',I wondered, but didn't voice out my thoughts, though I knew they would have been able to read my thoughts if they wanted to.

I was curious about my parents, no doubt, but I was more concerned about the forest spirit in front of me. What actually were forest spirits and how powerful were they.

Raphael, reading my thoughts, chuckled as he shook his head and said, "And here I thought you'd be curious about your own parents, but you're still stuck with forest spirits."

I gave him a sheepish smile as I shrugged and replied,"My parents, I'll be able to ask you guys about them later, but Pinacelia here, I don't know when I'll get to meet her next or know more about her."

"You do have a point here",he said, and Pinacelia, who was the subject of our discussion, only glided away and sat down in a stump that she conjured out of the earth.

I watched it all in amazement as she did same for all of us, and we could all sit on the stumps.

"Every surface, be it land or air or water, has a spirit protecting it, and just like humans, who have their own jurisdictions, all those surface spirits have their own jurisdictions", Raguel said as he tried to explain to me about Pinacelia.

I got the gist of what he was trying to say, but was simply dumbfounded at the new piece of information I got to learn from them.

"So, this area comes under your jurisdiction you mean?",I asked Pinacelia and she nodded.

"What happens when you don't like the people who enter your territory?",I asked, curious about what happened when people she didn't like entered her forest.

"I kill them and feed on their souls of course",she answered nonchalantly as though she was talking about eating some pizzas and burgers.

I was befuddled but still asked her,"And how do you do that?"

She smirked as she told me to stand up, which I did and she said,"Start from where you are, and come sit here by my side."

I was surprised at her invitation but I obeyed and tried to go to where she was, but no matter how many times I tried to, I ended up in my original position.

I was shocked as I didn't even need to take turns to reach where she was, but I always ended up at my own original place.

"That's just the first trick, do you still want to learn how I eat their soul?",she said, looking at me, and I realized that it was her trying to trap me in an illusion.

I quickly shook my head no, and sat down, not wanting to let my soul be eaten in a demonstration.

"Do all spirits have the same abilities? Like land, air and water spirits?",I asked and she replied,"Some are stronger than the others.", and I wondered how strong they actually were.

"By the way Raguel, you said you were fighting with them. Its only Pinacelia here, who else were you fighting with?",I asked out of curiosity and Pinacelia chuckled, which was more like an eery sob, and said,"Open your eyes and look around you."

I was startled at what she said as my eyes were already open. How much more was I supposed to open? Nevertheless, I still closed my eyes and reopend them.

What I saw next, scared the shit out of me, as surrounding us were hundreds, if not thousands of mini Pinacelias. They weren't tall like her, but looked exactly like her, and I wondered if they were the children Raguel was referring to.

I smiled sheepishly at them, who were blankly staring at me, as though ready to devour me anytime their mom gave her word to attack.

"Don't worry, my children won't harm you. I've given my word to the two of them here, and besides, you're Alyda's daughter. No harm will come to you as long as you're in my territory.",she said and I wondered why, as Alyda's daughter, she wouldn't harm me.

I couldn't hide my curiosity so I asked her directly,"Pinacelia, why won't you harm me? Even if I was Alyda's daughter?"

"Do you rather I harm you?",she answered me in bewilderment, as though I had asked her the most stupid question.

I shook my head quickly and replied,"No, I mean, do you know my mom?"

She seemed to be in some sort of trance and after a couple of minutes' silence, she said,"She was a powerful nephilim, your mother, and a very kind soul. She saved my life when I was birthing my hundredth child. She just fell for the wrong angel"

I gaped my mouth open at that piece of information. I was the daughter of a nephilim, and an angel. 'So what did that make me?', I wondered.

My dad's name was apparently Michael and there was only one angel Michael I knew of, Archangel Michael. So was I his daughter? If so, where was he? Why did he leave me and my mom? And what about Pinacelia saying that my mom had fallen for the wrong angel? Was my mom even alive or dead if she was as powerful as Pinacelia had said?

Pinacelia seemed to understand what was going in my head, as she said, "Your mother died protecting you from those who came after you. You are the only descendent of your father and the only one who is of a nephilim and angel descent, so you had enemies even before you were born."
