74 - Weird Stone

"Well congratulations to Room 3, I wish you luck in discovering it's hidden secrets.." Rose said but she was secretly sending a message to the other staff.

"Check it again, it might have a secret we missed." A woman standing off to the side watching the ongoing auction heard Rose's voice in her mind.

She immediately used her magic to send Rose's message along to another person according to protocol.

Further inside, Henry the same appraiser was happily enjoying some nice tea, with his expensive china sent up in a ritual as sorts.

He prepared the tea with precision at every step, he even had a few short finger biscuits on a small plate next to him.

But his long awaited break was unfortunately interrupted, he paused for a few seconds before letting out a long tired sigh.

"And here they are again to make me more work more even on my break.. Sigh." He looked up and over to the door before carefully placing down his tea cup.

It was at this moment that knocking came from the door interrupting his carefully made atmosphere.

"Come in already, you've already ruined my mood." Henry sighed tiredly once more as he turned off the old radio playing his favourite music.

The door opened as a young lady hesitantly poked her head in, seeing that it was young Jessica he couldn't help but sigh further.

"Umm Mr Henry I'm sorry to interrupt your break." Jessica said her face full of nervousness and sorrow.

"Well it doesn't matter now Child, just come in and tell what it is." Henry knew that everyone would send Jessica to interrupt his break as he had a soft spot for her, as she reminded him of his own granddaughter.

That combined with the fact she was a nervous little wreck, made it easy for others to get her to do stuff for them.

"W-Well umm Miss Rose has requested for that Girmoire from the drack ruins to be examined once more, and... Umm well I was sent to ask if you possibly could, umm... Examin it..." Jessica opened the door fully as she now stood in the doorway nervously playing with her hands.

Now reviled, Jessica was very short in height, looking like a young kid, it didn't help that her medium length light blue hair was done up with a big dark blue bow either.

If anyone who didn't know her saw her, than they would have thought she was a young school girl.

"Sigh, I've already checked that Girmoire 12 times and couldn't even hint at there being anything special about it other than the fact it's a book written in another language." Henry suddenly felt even more annoyed that his break was interrupted.

"Hurry up and bring it here." Henry said now in a worse mood, after all he thought it was a emergency or something that required his attention.

"Y-yes." Jessica hurriedly left the room before coming back with the unknown Grimoire on a pillow.

The pillows were specially designed and crafted to not only make items light but also to protect the staff from the items.

After all there are items that will kill those who touch it when they don't have enough strength, or items that curse you.

But Henry ignored all these worries as he was at Tier 6, so he directly picked up the black book before using his strongest appraisal ability.

The whole room glowed in the light of him mana as he casted his spell.

"Secrets reveal yourselfs, in the name of the God of Knowledge Gigon reveal all you information to me!" The book got covered in the glow of his mana before the light gathered into a ball in front of him.

From there Henry pulled out a special piece of paper and let the ball of mana fall onto it.

Feeling a good chunk of his mana used Henry became even more annoyed at Rose.

Looking down he checked the paper.

[An Unknown Grimoire written in a lost language ]

(This Girmoire was found in a unknown Ruin filled with darkness, it is written in a long lost language, making it's contents unknown weather it contains anything of value )

"Sigh, what did she expect, the old book doesn't even have an mana within it. So even if you could read it there's no way to obtain any spells even if it had any." Henry no longer caring tossed the old black book back onto the pillow.

Jessica hurriedly bowed to him before leaving with the book and piece of paper.

Seeing the door shut behind her, Henry went right back to making tea but instead of continuing where he was interrupted he started from the beginning once more.

Rose on the stage although nervous that they had just sold a great treasure without knowing it, tried her best to focus on the auction.

"Now I do have some great news for those who wanted that unknown Grimoire, as there was a second item in the same Ruin." Rose cheered as once more another item was brought out on a pillow.

This time it was a completely black smooth stone the size and shape of a pigeon egg, but this stone messed with your senses not with illusions or anything.

Instead the egg absorbed all light that came into contact with it, making it hard for normal people to process looking at it.

"Now this small stone is a bit special as within it is a unique mana, this makes it the perfect subject to study. Who knows maybe it holds the key to learning new why's of controling mana." Rose explained while now feeling excited that this useless rock might be sold for a high price.

"As this is a item unlike any other and is a once in a lifetime opportunity the starting price will be 550,000 gold.." Rose said trying to increase the excitement in the crowd.

But it was ultimately completely unaffective as no one bid...

Rose felt embarrassment well right up within her, she had made a last second decision to sell off this strange stone after seeing how much the useless book went for.

But it would seem she had let her greed get the best of her, and she'd probably be punished later.

Victor sitting down felt his heart still beating quickly as he hadn't gotten his hands on the strange Girmoire yet.

What made it all even worse was that this was completely foreign to him, even if he didn't know why.

If he had to explain it, then it was like a itch you couldn't scratch, so unknowingly he tried to find something to distract himself.

And that was when he heard Rose introduced the strange Stone, looking up he locked his gaze upon the stone.

Unknowingly he became entirely focused on it, almost like it was a black hole.

Blinking Victor came back to himself before looking around, seeing that no one else was effected by the stone like himself he knew that he had to get it.

But seeing as no one else wanted it he knew that he couldn't bid much for it otherwise it might draw others attention into buying it.

So he did the best thing he could to not only safe money but to also acquire the stone, and that was to bid on its starting price of only 550,000 gold.

"We have our first bid from VIP room number 3 for 550,000 gold, do we have anyone else who wishes to explore the untold secrets of this stone?" Rose forced a sweet smile while winking at the weak minded amongst the crowd but it proved completely useless as no one else placed any bids.

Left with no choice she could only call Victor as the winner, while screaming hate at the crowd internally.

But she immediately halted her train of thoughts when she noticed that the crowd wasn't all that interested in the auction anymore.

Knowing she had to do something to spark interest once more she started to panic slightly, but it was luckily at this time that she was alerted that the auction would soon be coming to a close as there were only a few items left, all of which were gold equipment.

And that's just what she needed right now to get interest back, so while she was yelling at the other staff telepathically to hurry the hell up, she put on a wonderful smile in front of the crowd.

But quite a few in the audience could easily tell she was panicking while forcing a bright smile.

Following her yelled order a girl hurriedly to grab the next item before walking out onto the stage.

"Here ladies and gentlemen is a impressive piece of I do say so myself, a gold quality rapier." Rose said rekindling the audiences interest.

[Bright Silver Rapier] (Gold Quality: Average)

"It is as you see, a great weapon for any swordsman class. As not only is the Rapier incredibly light but it is also flexible." Rose sold the sword further gaining more interest in the weapon.

"Now a nice piece of equipment like this is incredibly rare for anyone to come across, let alone one perfect for dueling! So the price of it will have to be pained for with Platinum Coins.

After all we all do know how expensive a piece of gold equipment is..."
