The director hesitated for a moment before nodding reluctantly.
"Fine," he said with a heavy sigh.
"But only for tonight. Tomorrow, we'll have to figure something out."
The guard nodded gratefully, knowing that at least for tonight, the little girl would have a roof over her head and a warm meal in her belly.
He went back outside to fetch the little girl, who was still standing in front of the orphanage with a blank expression.
"Come on," he said gently, extending a hand to her.
"Let's get you inside where it's warm."
