I'm Done...

The man standing gloomily with a sack of fruit in his hand hadn't even noticed Luck's arrival.

Sighing, the man muttered to himself.

"I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky to have caught the attention of the master of the settlement..."

For Adam, the day had been a roller coaster of emotions from one end to the other.

At first, after seeing that the fruit he had given to the master of the compound had been appreciated, he had been excited, thinking how he would sell the fruit that 'Nikolai, the master of the compound, was eating with pleasure', but then his joy had turned to fear when it turned out that he was selling unripe fruit.

After being dragged by the arm to Nikolai's house by Nikolai, who did not even listen to his explanation, he found himself waiting outside Nikolai's room, not knowing what would happen to him.

With countless unpleasant thoughts running through his mind, the man whimpered. "Maybe this is the end of my life.... what a joke, I'm going to die because of a fruit..."

Overhearing the man's grumbling without noticing him, Luck curiously approached the man and nudged his arm.

"Please don't kill me!"

Suddenly someone touched him and the poor man cried out in fear, thinking that the executioner was standing right next to him!"

Luck: 0_o

Shouldn't I kill you?

What makes you think I'm going to kill you?

Shocked for a moment, Luck said with a crooked smile on his face, "I'm not going to kill you, calm down."

Looking at the young man with the strange smile, the man breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't feel any threat from Luck.

"Why are you sneaking up on me like that, I'm scared to death!"

Luck: 0_o

Did I sneak up on you?

Even a deaf person would wake up because of the stairs that make noise when I walk!

Luck, overcome with curiosity, said, "What's got you so scared? I overheard you talking to yourself."

Realizing he was thinking out loud, the man looked around in fear for a moment.

"Did anyone else hear me?"

Luck looked at the man for a moment, not knowing what to say.

"How the hell do I know if anyone else heard you but me! There are super strong people around!

"I was the only one here...I don't think anyone else heard you." said Luck, trying to calm the man down despite all his thoughts.

The man cautiously looked around once more and approached Luck.

"Yes, seriously, there is no one else around, only you must have heard me."

Luck nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah no one else could have heard you but me...now tell me what were you saying?"

The man covered Luck's mouth with his hand.

"Shhh be quiet! They will hear us if you shout like that!"

Looking around furtively with his eyes, the man began to speak in a whisper.

"Today I was selling fruit in the market and suddenly the settlement master came to my stall and tried the fruit I was selling!"

Looking at Luck, the man sighed as he met Luck's meaningless blank eyes.

"If only that were all! Then he misunderstood me when he bought another fruit from my stall!"

Confused, Luck said, "How could he misunderstand you over a fruit?"

"He thought I was selling unripe fruit, so I think he's going to kill me!"

Although Luck didn't think that Nikolai would kill someone just because of a fruit, he still wasn't sure because he hadn't known Nikolai for very long.

"I don't think he would kill you over a fruit..." Luck said hesitantly.

The man shook his head in despair.

"He grabbed me after that moment and brought me here! He didn't even give me a chance to explain!"

Wondering why Nikolai might be so angry, Luck asked, "So what really happened? Are you really selling unripe fruit?"

The man quickly shook his head in denial and took a fruit out of the bag he was carrying and showed it to Luck.

"I brought this fruit from a distant city! If you let it sit for a while after plucking it from the branch, it softens and ripens! It's good to eat with a salad or as an appetizer with a squeeze of lemon!"

Luck's gaze suddenly fell on the fruit in the man's hand.

Avocado?

Luck recognized the green pear-shaped fruit as soon as he saw it.

Realizing what might have happened, Luck murmured with awareness. "So that's why..."

Realizing that Luck had recognized the fruit, the man became excited.

"You know this fruit? You know I'm telling the truth, right?"

"Can you tell the settlement master that I'm not lying to him? Maybe he will stop killing me!"

Luck put his hand on the man's shoulder to calm him down.

"Sure, man, I'll do my best."

The poor man felt relieved for a moment, but after a glance at Luck's clothes he felt depressed again.

Luck's clothes were not too bad, but they were not of good quality for someone who could talk to someone like Nikolay...

The man in front of him trying to calm him down must have been an ordinary employee of Nikolai....

Accepting his fate, the man said, "Never mind...there's no way to prevent it...the master of the settlement is known for his ruthlessness, the devil!"

As Luck stared at the man, not knowing what to say, the door to Nikolay's room opened and out came none other than Nikolay.

As soon as Nikolay saw Luck, he put his arm around Luck's shoulder as if they were close friends.

"Luck! There you are! Why didn't you tell me before?"

As soon as Nikolay stepped out of the door, the fruit vendor man broke out in a cold sweat.

I'm really dead now! I'm really dead!

Maybe I could have had a chance to live...

The fruit vendor was in despair as his eyes darted between Luck and Nikolay.

The two seemed to be close friends.

Maybe if he had spoken well of me I could have gotten out of this! But after he called Nikolay a devil...I really died.
