Strange camp

Although I couldn't see Carter as we walked I could still picture his perfect blond curls and electric blue eyes as if he were right there in front of me. Suddenly Mary (who was in front of me for real) stopped and I slammed into her

"Sorry," I apologized but I don't think she had even felt it.

She was staring at something in the distance. I turned to where she was looking and saw a girl emerging from a lake but the weird thing was she was perfectly dry!

Carter must have seen us because he said "That girl is a child of Poseidon, god of the sea. She is the only one currently living in her cabin but she's very kind. Her name is River."

At the sound of her name, River came over to us

"Hi Carter," she said then she turned towards us "It's unusual to have 12 new campers at once. I can sense one of you is a child of Poseidon but I don't know which."

Well Alex (who was male today) answered her question by floating up into the air. A trident appeared above his head and he was engulfed in water but like River, he came out perfectly dry.

"I I guess I'm your new cabin mate then," he said to River

"River," said Carter "will you show Alex around?"

"Of course!" said River "See you at dinner!" she turned to Alex "You have much to learn" then she gestured for Alex to follow her as she walked away.

After Alex left we continued on our way and didn't stop again until we reached a cabin Carter called the Hermes cabin.

"Hermes is the messenger of the gods. He is also the god of travel so all new campers come to stay at his cabin until they get claimed by their godly parent," he explained.

He had just finished explaining when Wendy started to float. Winged shoes appeared over her head.

a boy from the next cabin over said "Appears we have a child of Hermes here. She's a little young to be your girlfriend don't ya think."

he started to laugh but then Sam started to float and a spear appeared above her head.

"She's a little young to be your girlfriend don't ya think Mark!" Carter said in a very mocking tone.

Mark looked dazed but recovered enough to come take Sam from Mary's arms.

As he did this Mary said "Don't you dare hurt her!" but Mark just laughed and walked into his cabin.

"Well, now you've met a child of Ares. Most of his kids are like that," said Carter as he entered the cabin.
