The Short Interview That She Never Expected

As the not so hot coffee dripped down Damien's face, he let out a furious scream of shame and rage. He turned around to face the man who had just humiliated him, his eyes blazing with anger."You think this is funny?" Damien growled, clenching his fists at his side.

Noah chuckled. "I think it's hilarious," he said, wiping the grin off his face. "You're lucky I didn't do worse. You should know better than to mess with women like that."

Damien glared at him, the coffee still dripping down his face. He was fuming with anger, but he didn't want to make more scenes in the coffee shop.

"Just wait until I get my hands on you," Damien seethed through gritted teeth.

Noah just laughed. "Yeah, right. Like you could take me," he taunted, before walking away from the table.

Sarah and Weyna were stunned. They couldn't believe what they had just witnessed. They exchanged a look of relief that the situation had been diffused, but also a sense of unease at the tension that still lingered in the air.

"Sir…" Matthew, his assistant, went straight to his side the moment Noah was walking out of the coffee shop. "That's Sarah…"

"I know…" That short answer sent Matthew, his assistant, in silence.

Noah suddenly stopped before they reached the car. "Change of plan…"

"Which plan sir?" Matthew asked in confusion.

"The interview…" He looked at Matthew, looking cold as usual. "Give her the job…"

"But sir…the position does not even exist. Don't tell me…" Matthew started to panic. He didn't want to lose this job. The position that he created for Sarah was personal assistant to the CEO but he is the assistant for him at that moment.

Noah sighed, "I heard there is a vacancy for a manager position in our branch in New City…"

"She is not- '' Matthew interruption received a glare from Noah.

"Let me finish, can you?" Noah said with a tone of warning. "Create a personal assistant vacancy under the manager…"

"According to our staffing, Manager didn't suppose to have a personal -"

"Can you stop following the book?" Noah started to get annoyed.

Matthew hesitated for a moment, but he knew better than to argue with his boss. "Yes, sir. Understood," he said, then rushed to open the door for Noah.

Noah turned to the coffee shop once again. Both of the ladies were not there anymore, perhaps they rushed out hurriedly the time he was busy talking to Matthew. But Damien, who was standing at the door of the shop staring at him with so much hate.

"Get me the info of that man too…he is getting on my nerves." Noah said and entered the car.

Sarah decided to go to the interview despite what happened earlier. She went straight to the company after the incident earlier.

"I will wait for you here…" Weyna said, taking a seat at the lobby waiting area.

"Are you sure you are okay?" Sarah asked, still concerned.

"I am, don't worry. I should apologise to you. Glad I knew his true colours early." Weyna held Sarah's hand. She and Damien had just been dating for two months and she didn't really know much about him as they communicated a lot on phone before deciding to start dating.

"It is not your fault." Sarah smiled. "Let me…" She pointed at the reception counter.

"Okay…good luck!" Weyna held up both of her thumbs to wish her best friend good luck.

Sarah arrived at the company building about thirty minutes early, her heart pounding with nerves. She had dressed carefully in a plain white blouse and black pants, hoping to make a good impression. As she entered the sleek, modern lobby, she was struck by the grandeur of the place. She had never been to such an impressive building before.

"Good morning, ma'am. May I help you?" a receptionist asked, noticing her hesitation.

"Yes, I have an interview today," Sarah replied, trying to steady her nerves.

The receptionist smiled warmly at her. "Of course. Let me just confirm your appointment." She quickly checked her computer and nodded. "Yes, everything is in order. Please take an elevator to the 10th floor and someone will come to escort you shortly."

Sarah thanked the receptionist and made her way to the elevator, feeling her nerves intensify as the doors closed. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down, reminding herself of all the research she had done about the company and the position she was applying for.

When she arrived on the 10th floor, she was met by a young woman in a sharp suit, who introduced herself as the HR representative.

"Good morning, Sarah. My name is Amy, and I'll be escorting you to your interview with Mrs. Thompson," she said with a smile.

"Thank you," Sarah replied, trying to match the woman's professional demeanour.

As they walked down a long hallway, Sarah couldn't help but feel intimidated by the sleek, modern decor and the hustle and bustle of employees rushing back and forth.

Finally, they arrived at a door with the nameplate 'Violet Thompson, Director' and Sarah's nerves spiked again.

"Good luck," Amy said with a smile before leaving Sarah alone to face the interview.

Sarah took a deep breath and knocked on the door. A woman's voice called out, "Come in."

"Thank you for coming, Sarah," Mrs. Thompson said as Sarah entered the room. "Please take a seat."

Sarah sat down nervously and tried to make eye contact with Mrs. Thompson, who was going through some papers on her desk.

"I understand that you are interested in the personal assistant position we have available," Mrs. Thompson said, looking up at Sarah.

"Yes, ma'am," Sarah replied, trying to sound confident.

"Can you tell me a little bit about your qualifications and experience?" Mrs. Thompson asked.

Sarah took a deep breath and began to tell Mrs. Thompson about her previous experience as an administrative assistant and her strong organisational skills. She also mentioned her proficiency with Microsoft Office and her ability to multitask.

Mrs. Thompson listened intently, occasionally nodding and taking notes.

"Very impressive," she said when Sarah finished. "One more question before we wrap up. What do you think is the most important quality for a personal assistant to possess?"

Sarah thought for a moment before replying, "I believe that the most important quality for a personal assistant is the ability to anticipate their employer's needs and be proactive in taking care of them."

Mrs. Thompson nodded, impressed. "I couldn't agree more," she said. "Well, Sarah, I think you would make a great addition to our team. I would like to offer you the position."

Sarah's heart leaped with joy but at the same time, she was surprised. "Is this true?" she said, with her eyes widened. Seeing the nod from Violet, she stood up and bowed a few times, "I will not let you down and do my best in everything!"

"That's what I would like to hear," Mrs. Thompson replied with a smile. "Welcome aboard, Sarah."

After Sarah went out of the door. Noah came out from the bathroom. As there was nowhere to hide in this room, he decided to just stay there for a while.

"Now tell me, who is she?" Violet put down her pen then her glasses.
