Being her only family

"Your father did set a deadline but I can assure you Mr. Jones, my intention is good. I wanted her to get better and live her life." Mr. Mallady seemed sincere.

"Is there anything else that I need to know, doc?" I stand strainght and pocketed my hands.

The doctor looked at me and sighed before opening his mouth. "You are her only family now. The accident killed her parents and she's lucky enough to survive the tragedy."

"Her parents, who were they?"I ask, not caring if the doctor's face becomes confused. It's normal that he'd react that way. "I never got the chance to ask her," I reasoned.

He just nods and said, "Richard and Rose Simmer."

You've got to be kidding me! I clearly heard from dad that her name is Penelope Rose Braxton and not Simmer.

"She's the daughter of Richard Simmer,"I stated, still not believing the news.

I've met Richard Simmer in some business gatherings before. I knew he's married but never heard about his daughter.

"But her name is Penelope Rose Braxton."

"Her real name is Penelope Rose Simmer. In some unknown reason, she's never been introduced as a Simmer."

She is a mystery, indeed. If her parents decided to hide her real identity then so be it. But I must know the reason behind this mystery.

"Let's keep this matter to ourselves, Mr. Jones."

I nod. "Of course."

"And one more thing, being her only family, please talk to her every now and then. I believe part of her brain is active and can receive messages thus talking to her is a good approach," Dr. Mallady emphasized the last part of his request.

I don't have a problem coming here everyday but to create a one-way conversation is a crazy idea. In the first place, she's a total stranger to me and not to mention, she's unconscious. I don't do stupid things.

Dr. Mallady finally get up. He looked at me dead serious. "This is a request from your father and me, Mr. Jones. And besides, you're the one who's gonna tell her about her parents' death."

Now, that is big responsibility for me to make. "Why me? You can tell her yourself doc."

He smiled and said, "you are her fiancè, Mr. Jones."
