Chapter 2: Losing Mrs. Barbara

It has been fifteen years since the kids accepted to involve with Mrs. Barbara's work, but first they were obliged to develop their powers, to train day and night, to be powerful as much as they can, so that they will be able to accomplish their missions safely and without getting caught.

Anna was able to manifest a yellow sparkle that can grab, restrain, shield anything she wants and that by looking at it, her eyes glow yellow as will, her powers are still in progress as for the much she trains the more a new green color appears from her hands, nevertheless she can't control it nor make it visible for only some time. Despite that, when she uses her powers for a long time it could affect her health causing her to fall from dizziness or faints or even falling into a coma or die.

On the other side, John's powers are not physically effective as much as its psychologically effective, he is able to make his target fall asleep by simply saying the word "sleep" and it lasts for two days, and he can make his target awake again when he wants, but that can't happen if he is far from his target, he needs to be close so that he can make someone asleep or awake. For that, Mrs. Barbara focused on training John as a fighter more than focusing on developing his powers.

And for Felicity, her powers give her the ability to disappear, in which everything she touches can disappear too, anyway, there is no time limit for her disappearing but that doesn't apply to the things she touches, where they can appear again after ten minutes.

Regarding Roland and Briar, Roland is able to summon minions by his hands, and he can order them, see through them, control their moves and also holds and touch anything he wants, but this ability required a lot of efforts, so when he uses it, it prevents him from moving, just sitting still, in addition to that, he can summon more than twenty minions, but once two of them die, they all disappear making him conscious again, while for Briar, he can control air, causing a destruction. Moreover, his limits stop on controlling nature and nothing more.

For the past fifteen years Mrs. Barbara has been committed on training them with all what she can and even she started engaging them with her missions of stealing in the city, and the responsibility they took was never a barrier for them to enjoy their childhood, indeed, they felt this great rock they are holding on their back.

And now they are living the days trying to help their people, whatever their means are, Mrs. Barbara left them with a big responsibility that they need to take care off.

And as usual in that time of the year, in Mrs. Barbara's office sat Felicity and Anna Looking at her empty office.

_" Do you remember that day?" Felicity talking to Anna.

_" How can I forget" Anna replied.

_" You've never sit there, despite that Mrs. Barbara recommended you to do so" Felicity said.

_" I can't, no one can take her place" Anna standing up touching the table when the door knocked suddenly cutting the silence of the room.

_" Girls, are you here?" Roland said in a loud voice, letting himself in.

_" Why you even ask!, knock first" Felicity said.

Roland gave a sarcastic smile and said "We have a visitor".

The three of them went out, seeing a man holding fresh flowers in his right hand, wearing a formal cloth.

_" Mr. Owen, you are here" Anna said walking toward him.

_" In this day I should be here, don't you think so" Mr. Owen said while he hugs Anna greeting her.

_" How are you Mr. Owen?" Felicity said as she hugs him too.

_" Fine dear, I've missed you all" Mr. Owen said looking to their faces.

Then, they walked heading to the back of the house, where a grave came to their beholder and Briar was sitting there crying, and John putting his hand on his shoulder soothing him with sadness hovering the place, at this day if the sun is shiny they can't see it shiny, if the air is fresh they can't sense it fresh.

Mr. Owen got closer to Briar, sitting beside him, putting the flowers on Mrs. Barbara's grave.

_" It's hard, I know" Mrs. Owen said looking at Briar.

_" She was our mum, our friend, the one that had never gave up on us, but she's not here anymore" Briar said while crying and looking at Mrs. Barbara's grave.

Then John took Briar by his hand, helping him to go rest for a while, Felicity and Roland followed them to the inside leaving Anna and Mr. Owen alone.

_" Anna come sit beside me" Mr. Owen said turning around waving his hand to Anna to come.

_" There I am" Anna sitting beside Mr. Owen.

_" They told me that you are still refusing Mrs. Barbara's will" Mr. Owen said.

_" I don't refuse it, I do take the leadership as she said, but I couldn't take her place" Anna said justifying her situation.

_" Try to sit there, in her place, feel like her, that what she wants, to remind you with your responsibility, your duty of protecting your family, you need to do that" Mr. Owen recommended.

_" It has been five years since her death, I don't know if I will be able to do it now" Anna said putting her hands on the grave.

_" You can, I believed in you a long time ago to do many dangerous things after I have worked with Mrs. Barbara alone, so yeah you can do it" Mr. Owen smiling to Anna.

After Mr. Owen left, they sat eating dinner except for Briar.

_" How is Briar?" Anna said holding the spoon and rolling it in the plate having no appetite to eat nor anyone else.

_" He slept after a lot of tears" Felicity said putting the spoon of her hand.

_" It has been five years, but he couldn't find comfort every time this day comes" John said.

_" He will never get used to it" Roland said.

_" We already know that Briar is a sensitive guy" John replied to Roland.

_" Let us go join him" Anna said.

They left their food barely unfinished and head upstairs, they entered seeing briar sitting on his bed crying.

_" Who let you in?" Briar said after sniffing.

_" Roland did" Felicity looking at Roland and laughs.

_" Hay" Roland replied.

They all gathered around him and hugged him.

_" Ok guys you can stop now" Briar said smiling for a second.

_" But first you should promise us to stop, because the last time you didn't, our room was destroyed because of your lovely power" Roland said giving him a reason to laugh.

_" Oh yeah, my bed was divided to two pieces last time, because the ground was shaking crazy" John commenting.

_" Don't worry, I'm not going to do so" Briar laughed for a bit.

_" Now you are ok" Anna beamed.

_" Thank you guys, you are the best" Briar said after taking a deep breath.

They went to their rooms wishing things will get better in the future.
