The brothers.

Chris and Evan were walking when they came across a small village, it seemed abandoned so they decided to camp there for the night. "Chris, just grab the other end!" "I'm trying, why does it have to be so big?" Chris shouted back while grabbing a pole. "It's a tent, there all this size!" Evan shouted back. Chris didn't respond because he didn't want to argue any more. Chris stuck the last pole through the fabric, Evan did a little magic and before Chris knew it, there was a tent. Not a normal tent, Chris thought it would be smaller the more they built it. But no, it got bigger the more they built it. "Now how does that work?" Chris thought to himself as he ran to meet up with Evan at the entrance of the tent, "So, how does it look?" Evan asked. Chris was in awe, it was probably the biggest tent he had seen. But then he remembered the argument. "It looks… good." "It does, doesn't it." Evan said as he walked inside. Chris followed Evan inside the tent.

"What the…" "It's only temporary, so don't get too attached to this dump." Chris looked at Evan when he said that. The walls were made of expensive rug, the floors were probably even more expensive. Chris looked to the right and saw a kitchen. It was about a yard away from the wall. And to finish there was a staircase. The kitchen itself had a bar where Evan would serve food. The floor changed to what looked like marble. There were small round ceiling lights everywhere because there were no windows. Along the walls were statues and treasures. In the middle of the room was an L shaped couch facing the opposite way of the kitchen. Chris guessed that it was so Evan could watch the T.V. In between the T.V and the couch was a small oval foot table, with 2 cups and a plate of cookies on it. Chris stared straight at the cookies and Evan noticed, "You can help yourself." Evan said without looking at him. Chris smiled and ran over to the cookies, some were peanut butter, some were sugar and some were chocolate chip. Chris grabbed a chocolate chip on and gobbled it down. He hadn't had a cookie in years! He looked in the glass mugs and there was milk, he gulped that with the cookie. He grabbed another one and took a bite. "Woah there Chris, save some room for dinner." Evan yelled across the room. Chris didn't talk, he couldn't talk, the cookies were amazing. He dipped the remaining cookie into the other mug of milk, and ate with a smile. Evan yelled again, "Hey foods ready!" Chris looked over as Evan put two plates of food on the little counter. Chris walked over and grabbed a plate. He looked at it and there was an omelette, bacon and apple sauce. Evan handed him a mug and filled it up with a red liquid. Chris sat down and took a sip of the red drink, it tasted like cherries and some carbonation.

The next morning when Chris woke up, he walked to the kitchen where he saw Evan talking to someone. "I…" Evan started but got cut off, "We should come with you!" A voice yelled. "No! That's an awful idea!" Evan yelled back. "Well, i'm coming in!" The voice yelled at Evan, then a kid, about the same age, and height as Chris walked in, followed by another boy that was about as tall as Evan, and even looked the same age. Evan was exasperated, "I never said you could come in." "But we did." The taller one responded. He looked around and made eye contact with Chris who was trying to be invisible. "Who are you?" The kid yelled across the room. "Who are you?" Chris yelled back. "I asked you first!" The kid yelled but Chris was quick to respond, "But I asked you second, and two is bigger than one." Chris was grinning as the kid tried to find words. Chris already knew what to say before the kid even said anything. Chris was still smiling then the kid whipped the smile right off his face, "I work for the king's guard, I have orders to arrest you, and your little friend. Come over peacefully, or you will die under his foot." Chris and Evan looked at each other. "Then I guess we'll die." Evan said all of a sudden. The kid looked at him, "W-what?" Evan didn't flinch, "Who are you? The king's men would have attacked by now." That question stumped the kid, "Well we er." The kid stuttered. "Yeah… that's what I thought. Who are you?" Evan asked. The taller kid looked at the other kid, "We live in this abandoned town. Just the two of us. We haven't seen other people in such a long time." He finished. Evan gave him a plain look. "I don't buy it, where everyone else is."  The kid looked at Evan with a confused look. Chris looked at the smaller one. His face looked slightly pale, like he knew the truth. "We are the only one's here." The other boy said. All eyes were on him. He walked into the house. As he took his first step inside, a shadow ran through an old house. "Wait!" Chris yelled. He ran to the door and looked outside. The morning sun had come up fully. Chris stared at the stillness of the old town. Something is wrong, Chris thought to himself. He took a step outside. He turned around and glanced at the smaller kid, he looked more nervous than before. Chris turned back around and saw the slightest bit of movement. Chris stared at the building from which the movement came from. His eyes were locked on that building when he felt a heavy object smash upon the back of his head. Chris went down with a groan as he saw the taller kid hit the floor next to him. He shut his eyes and tried to get rid of the massive head-ach he now had.

Chris woke up, and strolled down the stairs, he saw Evan towering over the taller kid. The younger one was in the kitchen using the appliances. "The young one's name is Dean, he cracked before I even did anything." Chris looked over to Dean, who smiled at him then flipped what looked to be an egg. "And what about him?" Chris asked, "Well, Dean said his name was Dakota, but won't talk." Chris looked at the older one, who glared at him. "Oh and Dean also said that there was an entire civilization, but they're all gone now." Chris didn't fully understand. "What do you mean they're gone?" "I mean they're gone." Evan finished in a stern voice. "But you can help him cook." Evan said in a more polite tone of voice. Chris looked at Dean and decided this would be a good chance to get to know him.  "Hey there." There was a pause of awkward silence. Chris looked around, then stepped out of the kitchen. "Let's go outside then." Evan said to Dakota. The two walked outside, followed by Chris. In an instant, Evan had Dakota at the tip of his staff. "Who are you?" Evan yelled. Dakota didn't respond. "Alright then." Evan said while taking a few steps backward. Dakota didn't move as Evan shot a blast of light right at him, making him fly into a tree, and crash on the ground. Dakota tried to get back up, but he collapsed on the ground. Evan walked over to him. "Wanna talk now?" Dakota looked at him and nodded and the 3 of them walked inside.
